Would World War 2 have been affected if the Easter Uprising in Ireland had actually worked? If yes, how so?
By "worked", I'm implying that it ends in a British defeat and Ireland is unified and functions perfectly as its own country.
Pic related, John Connolly.

I'm so autistic

I see no reason why that would affect the outcome of WW2.

What was the best Crusader State? Which was the most martial/warlike?
i always liked the Principality of Antioch
But the Kingdom of Jerusalem was the best
>>1080483
It had the best flag at least.
>>1080468
Principality of Galilee m8.
Tancred was always bit of a lad, but uncle Bohemond wasn't having none of his shit.
While it may be considered admirable to spare your enemy in war, such as in the Charlie Brown and Franz Stigler Incident, is it really logical? If sparing your enemy means that they will just come back to kill your comrades later on, wouldn't it make more sense to kill them, even if they are vulnerable?
it also means you or your comrades wont have to face execution in case of being captured

>To a surrounded enemy, you must leave a way of escape.
>>1080391
True, you do have a good point there. Violence begets violence, etc.
>>1080391
I think you're taking that sun tzu quote out of context. He was talking about minimizing losses while pursuing a routed enemy.
The next line:
> To a surrounded enemy you must leave a way of escape. Do not press an enemy at bay.
> Prince Fu Ch’ai said: ‘Wild beasts, when at bay, fight desperately. How much more is this true of men! If they know there is no alternative they will fight to the death.’
What would the world look like today if the mongols had never sacked Baghdad?
>largest city in the world, over 1 million people
>capital of knowledge, filled with science, maths, literature. the Tigris flowed black with ink when it was destroyed
>centre of trade between east and west, between Europe and China
If it was never destroyed, is it possible to think the middle east would not have slunk backwards and lapsed behind Europe in terms of development? Is it possible...

The Mongols brought in an era of learnedness and prosperity though.
I mean yeah, burning Baghdad was a loss for humanity as a whole, but they improved things in the region on a grand scale.
>>1080488
>Mongols brought in an era of learnedness and prosperity though
Maybe in Iran and inadvertently through the Mughals. But how can you say that slaughtering hundreds of thousands of middle-easterners good for the region?
Nomads (Turks, Mongols) literally fucked up every place they went to. The reason the Islamic world fell behind is because it went from being led by Arabs and Persians to being led by Turco-Mongols.
Why do wehraboos and popcult militaryfags in general jerk off to Erwin Rommel, but nobody gives much credence to the real Axis military genius, General Guderian
>>1080264
I made this exact thread (give or change a few words) with this exact pic like a week ago. r u memeing me
if not, there were a few ideas
>Guderian mostly fought in the East and had less combat encounters with Western troops therefore less ingrained in our popular conscious
>Likewise, British propaganda hyped up Rommel's talents (which there certainly were, he was a gifted officer) to make him out as some sort of Hannibal or Napoleon, in...

Are there any well known Israeli born philosophers/Israeli philosophical essays or books that you know about?
pic unrelated, he wasnt born in Israel.
Yoav Eliasi
Amir Hetzroni
Chanoch Daum
Yair Lapid (inspired by the Greeks, mainly)
>>1080739
Yair Lapid is a journalist, a politician and a celebrity.

Was Afghanistan really the Soviet union's Vietnam?
it was the soviet union's afghanistan
That depends on whether Soviet Helicopter Pilots liked Creedence Clearwater Rivival.
Wonder what the USSR's equivalent of "It ain't me" is...
how can i create a nation
what things i need to do to become a good leader
how can i unite different races under one flag
thank you in advance for the answers /his/
>Straya Stronk
>>1079986
Anyone can create a nation. I could declare that my house is now the 'Independant Republic of Dragon Dildos', but no-one's going to acknowledge that. So long as your 'nation' isn't acknowledged by other sovereign nations, it's not legitimate.
>>1079998
yeah thats why i need followers and if i want followers i need to be a good leader
Why has this yet to come to pass? More so why is it getting further and further from the goal?
Because basing your state on fairy tales isn't a good idea
>>1079578
This.
Always fails, eventually. People either stop believing, or get tired of the current belief and go after some other one, and whenever it does, we all know what happens.
Why do we need morals? Philosophy doesn't actually make progress and have proves no unified facts, so it's worthless in regards to morality, and we all know religion must be rejected if we hope to advance, and those are the only two sources of complex morality, so are we ready, as humanity, to transcend morality altogether?
>>1079652
Maybe
>getting rid of morality is good
no
even if try to make it sound good with words like transcend
What works should I read in order to learn and understand existentialism?
To put it another way, what are the essential texts of this philosophy?
Sartre invented existentialism, so you'll want to read him and the thinkers he draws on
Notes from Underground is, without a doubt, the best introduction to existentialism. The narrator gives an in depth explanation of it in the first ten chapters.
