What does /his/ think about the History of Rome podcast?
>>1331290
Just getting into Roman history, so I guess I'll get through at least some of it before my interest shifts.
>>1331290
I've heard the ones regarding constantine they were really good.
>>1331290
I just got to Augustus Caesar, I think it's a really great podcast, Mike makes some great observations and explains things really clearly.
>Hammer head for smashing.
>Pick head for piercing.
>Stabbing head for thrusting.
It's the perfect weapon!
It can be mounted on a pole, increasing its range!

How come it wasn't used at all in civilian and urban context ?
Guess it wasn't the best then... as if something could be.
Nothing can beat the Emperor of Battlefield, a Mighty Whip Sword. Whips are literally super sonic weapons, combine that with a sharpest blade known to man and you got The Weapon worth of being wield by The Jesus Christ himself.
With the Statehood day today, Slovenia celebrates its 25th birthday and is part of history according to /his/'s rules. Therefore, I've decided to create this thread where I will once again dump maps, but only those related to Slovenia. I will also try and answer any question related to Slovenia and its history all the way back to settling in the East Alps.
Unfortunately, I haven't yet had the time to translate all of my maps so if anyone has any question, ask away.
I'm starting off with a modern map of (purely geographical, not historical) regions...

25 years of being a meme. Slovenia was a mistake.
>>1330657
Slovenia is a good meme 2bh.
Meme magic will lead to Slovenia being the number 1 superpower. Just wait until the first lady of the US is Slovene.
Tell me more about Armenian history and culture /his/, I've found myself suddenly fascinated by their breathtaking landscapes and millenar history and would like to know more.
First nation to make Christianity the official religion. Best known for continually starting shit between the Romans and Parthia, being genocided by Ottoman Turks, System of a Down and the Kardashian family.

They had a borderline atheist, genderequality promoting, feudaldenying uprising in the 9th century that spooked the rulers so much that they allied with muslims to crush it.
Anyone else find Middle English far more pleasing to ear, heart and tongue than Modern or Early Modern English?
>>1330529
Why?
Sure, but only because of the "older languages always sound better because they're old" effect
Yes. Modern Englsih seems like Spanish in the way it's simplified, for example there being no distinction between plural 'you' or singular 'you' makes it seem so.

I don't come often on 4chan... what I'm looking for is one or more decent documentaries on what happened in Jugoslavia in the 90s.
I was too young to remember the details and would like to fill the gap.
I can understand:
>English (good)
>French (good)
>Italian (okay)
>Spanish (okay)
>Portuguese (kinda)
So I would appreciate...

You need a fucking documentary to understand what happens when the eternal Serb does his thing? Fine, I guess.
>Tito died
>nationalism on the rise
>it all fell apart
That's it

I thought I could get decent discussion outside of /pol/.

Okay man... but I am curious about the unfolding. Who did what. How things collapsed. How the international community reacted.
How the strategy of the different armies unfolded... I don't feel I am asking for the Moon... but neither it's a 5 minutes thing.
I read some diaries of people who got caught up in sieges. But frankly I am missing the big picture and the military/political...

When we look back at the history of Northern Africa, Egypt is almost always the topic of conversation. But what about the surrounding nations? What were they up to?
>>1328053
Living in shitty huts, hunting animals, singing songs, and chilling out.

And invading Egypt

Hey, /his/. Since we realized that there wasn't one yet, and its a form of education that's sorely lacking in modern day we're making a discord chatroom to be a general community of philosophy, and its general overlap with science, sociology, or other forms of theory. As well as to be a community in general.

We only just started up, but this is something that could be useful if if becomes big.

So Confucian role ethics are the right way?
>>1327156
No, ethics in the face of the Other is correct
>>1327190
Why do edgy philosophers always try to come up with their own non standard form of ethics. It just makes everyone look retarded.
What will be considered great literary works of this century?
I know Harry Potter will be LOTR-tier but what else?
Fuck this was supposed to be on /lit/.

desu it makes me sad that a series of books for children may be considered one of the greatest works from this century. on a side note if this was meant for /lit/ can we talk about the infantilisation of western society instead? just the other day I saw characters from a childrens film advertising broadband companies. its embarrassing
Hey everyone! Which nation has always had the best uniforms for the army or navy?

The Danish army mid 20th century was the goofiest shit
Why are some countries (Italy/France/Japan) so great at creating culture/art, while others (Germany/China) are fucking terrible? I just don't get it.
(also, no plebs/germanboos ITT please)
>>1332235
China? Really?
Germany ok, but China has plenty of history and culture, art. Less known to the west.
Germanic ppl come from rather unpleasant lands, Mediterranean climate meant ppl can do other things except trying to survive the winter.
Patriarchal family structure values material success more than spiritual one.
>>1332235
