Anyone here read Anti-Oedipus by Deleuze and Guattari?
Let's start a post-structuralism thread.
Positives, limitations, what is trying to accomplish and can it lead us to asking better questions?
Is their criticism of Freud fair, seeing that a lot of continental philosophy still acknowledges Freudian frameworks?

The problem with post-structuralists is the synchronic approach (looking at 'snapshots in time') rather than taking a more historical view.

>The problem with post-structuralists is the synchronic approach (looking at 'snapshots in time') rather than taking a more historical view.
I mean that is a major problem that they discuss in this book. But they want to draw a line between phenomenalism (sort of what you just discussed) and structuralism. Instead of fitting everything into structures or looking at everything as a snapshot they look at events as machines, and flows and junctures. Everything being connected...

Then the structuralist position would seem to parallel Nietzsche's idea of radical perspectivism - the world being 'in flux', and the structure of it being somehow imposed by the mind.
Quick quest, has the connotations of various facial expressions remained mostly the same for around the last 500 years or so?
If we were to analyse this picture using our interpretation, we would see a Voltaire, smug and sarcastic about the claims of the holiness, Roman-ness and imperial-ness of a certain political entity in Central Europe.
What would've contemporaries like Frederick the Great and Catherine the Great seen in this facial expression, however?

He has always been seen as smug and sarcastic, so we may reasonably suppose that his expression in this painting was meant to convey the same impression.
Either that or he just let out a sick fart.

Quran (4:34) - "Men are the maintainers of women because Allah has made some of them to excel others and because they spend out of their property; the good women are therefore obedient, guarding the unseen as Allah has guarded; and (as to) those on whose part you fear desertion, admonish them, and leave them alone in the sleeping-places and beat them; then if they obey you, do not seek a way against them; surely Allah is High, Great."
This is so vague, does it mean you can just slap them, or does it mean you can bruise them up...

I believe it means "Muh feel feels, therefore women should be constantly satisfying a beta like me"
Truly, Islam was the first version of the MRA movement
>>1338641
>a religion that allows polygamy where 25% of the male population could have all of the wives and it would still be considered a just and pious society
>MRA movement
Pick only one.
Not that I like Islam mind you, it's just that Islam hates anyone who's not chad or doesn't want to be chad.

So, I was wondering. What kind of history does Jamaica have? I don't really know much about the country other than that it's where reggae and Rastafari come from. Are there any good articles/books/videos on Jamaica?
Any notable events or interesting periods?

How come the ancients considered Pyrrhus to be hot shit? He didn't really achieve anything of note.
I can't explain it anon, you woulda just had to have met the guy to understand. A total party animal.
>>1337081
He was a great tactician. He won battles. Battles aren't the end all though.

The most effective Greek counter to Roman expansionism came from the literal ass end of the Greek world.
Today retards just meme about phyyric victories but they've never read about the battles and don't understand the war he waged.
What are the actual tenants of taoism, practically speaking?
>>1336229
Living with the will of God and living a simple life free of vices.
>>1336359
So it has nothing to do with the way it's described on the OP pic?
>>1336374
That's exactly what I said. The stiff who fight against God's will are never at peace, but the flexible people who accept God's will are at peace.
Let's seriously consider this. Is this true?
Yes. If you kill your enemy, he becomes a zombie, he'll be immune for any bullets and he'll continue until he eats your brain
In a political situation within a domestic environment then yes. Example being liberals and BLM chimping out against Trump supporters.
I a situation between countries, if you kill your enemies you win, as long as you don't do any genocide.
Circumstantially.
Consider a culture that idolizes martyrs. There are times when you need to actually be careful who you kill. The Romans killed a bunch of Christians and look how that turned out.
For the most part the quote is retarded though.
I've read some people speak bad about it, but is there anything, concretely, inaccurate about it?
>>1335798
Absolutely nothing is wrong with it and anyone who says otherwise is being bias and is probably a communist
>>1335798
It's filled with ridiculous revisionism. Just to take one point apart, TGSNT claims, following the likes of guys like Viktor Suvorov, that the attack into the USSR was actually a premptive/preventive attack, spurred on by worries of Soviet expansionism.
It's bullshit. For starters, the Germans well encouraged Soviet "expansionism", as the Molotov-Ribbentorp pact recognized areas outside the USSR as part of their "sphere of influence", including Germany's "ally",...

Are the civilizations of ancient Mesopotamia and their spiritual Traditions the most influential in all of human history?
No, Persia and Greece are
>>1332749
The cultures of Persia and Greece were built upon the spiritual Traditions founded by the priesthoods of Mesopotamia civilizations though
>>1332767
Aspects of Persian culture (writings, architecture) were built on the work of Mesopotamians. Persians had Zoroastrianism which was based on pagan proto-Indo-european roots and Greeks had their own mythology which was slowly switched out for their much better philosophy.
What is this meme called falun gong? Why does the chink gov hate it so much and why are western so accepting toward it?

Are racism and genocide direct byproducts of accepting the evolutionary theory?
>>1331779
>Did racism exist before 1859?
You can't be serious.
>>1331784
yep he's serious
I dunno, how much influence did the theory evolution have on this?
Nationalism is a recent invention and I never liked it as it meant suppression of regional cultures (think Wales, Brittany, Low Saxon regions, Basque etc.). The only good thing - to me - of a nation station is a larger military.
Here's the article I am referring to:
https://www.newscientist.com/article/mg22329850-600-end-of-nations-is-there-an-alternative-to-countries/?utm_source=NSNS&utm_medium=SOC&utm_campaign=hoot&cmpid=SOC%7CNSNS%7C2016-GLOBAL-hoot
I would welcome more autonomy of regions and the remergence of city-states. What about you?

A lot of those new nations or whatever to call them makes no sense. The push for independence in a lot of them is so small as not hardly exist.

Can someone recommend me some good books that go into not only the history of Rhodesia and Apartheid South Africa, but delineates the specifics in how they ran their societies?
Also any recommendations in any related books like biographies of Ian Smith, race relations, economics, agricultural policies or the Boer wars/people would also be appreciated.
I'm going to bump this out of interest
Any1 know where i can get that hartseer land documentary for free? Been searching for that shit for years now
Let's get this out of the way...
>it's been like 1000 years since apartheid ended and africans still don't have flying cars, clearly they are inferior apes
