How's training going? Any dojo stories?
I'm having a little difficulty learning the whole "counter before the opponent moves" thing. Can't quite seem to get the grasp of baiting them into moving for my attack to hit. Any advice on that?
I was never good at doing a men strike this way, but debana kote was one of my goto technique.
I don't think that baiting them into striking is very realistic to attempt. A better use for the technique is against someone who you know is going to attack. I tended to go for debana kote as a counter to someone who was "attacking me too much" but which I mean attacking a lot, even at times when I wasn't vulnerable. I knew they were going to attack and so I would just wait until my eye picked up the slightest hint of intent to attack or movement towards...

Interesting. How would you go about doing it to partners you've never really practiced with, or if they're ultra defensive and mostly go for counters?
I'm not talking about knowing someone is going to attack because you practice with them all the time, I mean figuring someone out during a match. Debana is always a gamble, but it's taking the educated risk that makes it so fast and therefore so effective.
If someone seems defensive, debana isn't a good technique to use on them unless you think you can force an attack some how.
Name a professional wrestler that could actually beat Scott Steiner in a shoot fight.
Pro Tip: You can't
Two hours of nothing but Steiner stories:

Brock Lesnar
Kurt Angle

Just because you're more technical in a wrestling ring, doesn't' mean you could beat Steiner in a legit fight.
>>804630
Brock Lesnar is a former heavyweight MMA champ. He would absolutely destroy Steiner in a shoot fight.

>WWE sent out an email blast to its WWE Fan Council yesterday, asking them to take a survey concerning the state of Raw.
>They asked questions such as when a viewer actually watches the show, when they change the channel, etc. The company was curious if the respondent would change the channel during talking segments, backstage bits, recaps, etc.
>It’s no secret that Raw’s ratings have lost about 25% of their number since June. It’s nice that the company is asking the questions....

should've sent it here smĥ tbph pham
they turned the best wrestler in the company into a mini triple H, got rid of his awesome finisher, and made him a whiny little bitch instead of the unstoppable killing machine they teased when he broke brock's ribs, cena's nose, threatened to kill edge etc.
then to make matters worse they put him up against guys that even the markiest of marks couldn't believe actually had a chance of winning for 2 straight ppvs
they let the top face leave with no adequate replacement, instead opting to go for the guy who only appeals to those who don't actually...

Thread for the truly heartbreaking stories that were supposed to happen but didn't.
Gregory Helms is a really sad story about what couldve been. He was given the green light for a huge main event push that would have seen him win the World Heavyweight title around 2007- 2008 and be a headlining superstar. Vince had a lot of high hopes for Helms mostly for his dedication and willingness to just go with the flow. Helms was going to be bigger than ever. That was derailed when he was in his motorcycle accident back in may of 2007.
It was also rumored that had...

His neck injury put him on thin ice, and then he got that DUI while he had THAT GUT
Tough break. He was in TNA's Bound for Glory this year just for a bit and still looked out of shape.
>>803937
Yeah tough break about his neck. Hes wrestling on borrowed time. And what's worse is he was significantly older than Edge when his happened. I'll give Helms another 5 years at most before he hangs up the Cape and mask
What if WWE made their schedule more reasonable (breaks between tours like puro or less nights wrestling per week) which allowed them to de-sterilize their style and have fresh matches?
Will he be the best in the world in the UFC?
hes a barely trained amateur that was only allowed in because he brings a draw
he has a background in kempo, like every 6 year old that has ever taken a karate class
and a blue belt in jiujitsu.
They are going to throw him up against a cream puff a few times to see if he can even survive against low tier people before they let him fight actual fighters.
>>803861
Wouldn't it make them more money to pair him up against a legit world class fighter in his first fight? I mean he fights a bunch of no name amateurs and potentially loses, the hype will die down when people realize he sucks. He fights someone legit, Dana gets a huge payday and gets to shittalk pro wrestling as a former world champion gets knocked the fuck out in 10 seconds of his UFC debut.

dana doesn't give a fuck about pro wrestling looking bad and is only doing this because CM is a draw to attract wrestling fans
Am I the only one who thinks that 2015 has been an overall bad year for wrestling? From deaths in the ring, deaths of legends all over the place, forced pushes, low ratings or even being kicked off their network, shoot fights, premature retirements, wrestlers leaving their companies, and a large sum of injuries?
The last year that I can recall that had a ton of shit wreck everybody was 2007.
Smarks ruined wrestling
NXT has been consistently good outside of that rough patch, ROH has been solid this year and Lucha Underground was amazing

He has no chin
>>800330
Holds his chin too high, hands a bit too low for carrying the chin so high, footwork is almost nonexistent and he likes to work a reaching, prodding jab that has no real threat to it and gets him swarmed in the first. When he squares up and throws heavier jabs they at least seem to have an effect. Not a whole lot of variety, but he does know to use his range against the shorter guy, clinch when he's in trouble and go for the kill when the other guy is hurt. He clearly had more stamina, which is good. Overall, an...

Listen, being a wrestling smark isn't bad. 80% are assholes who seek to destroy every bit of enjoyment one can get from pro wrestling. But that doesn't mean being a smark is a bad thing.

I'm 20 years old and would like to get into... something. Some sort of physical hobby that's fun and gives me the motivation to stay in peak health, something to work at and improve at.
There are ~500 billion martial arts out there. Where the fuck do I start? I'm in decent shape (3plate deadlift
awhile ago
and can run a 5k
last summer
) but I find it hard to maintain interest in fitness if it isn't directed at something else.
Is there like a flowchart or some shit to help me figure out what I should go for?...

tell us where you live maybe there is a good coach around you. For the most part style and schools that promote resistant training, sparring, etc like boxing, Muay thai, judo, wrestling BJJ will get you the most bang for your buck. Besides that it depends on your price range, schdule and how you mesh with the coaches. So there you go.
Boxing/muay thai + bjj/judo/wrestling
Avoid anything korean, Chinese or Jewish
