So I've been doing jiu-jitsu again for a month now, and at least once a week we do something called King of the Hill.
Two guys go in, whoever taps leaves, whoever wins stays in and fights the next guy. Repeat until we're all tired.
I have always lost these, sometimes painfully. Last night I had to go against a professional fighter. He fucking wrecked both my shoulders in seconds.
But today I finally became king of the hill. Right after the guy got a lecture from the coach about needing to secure position before submission, we start rolling, and he starts passing my guard and doing shit while not quite in side control while I have his arm.
And somehow, I turn that into a behind the back Chicken Wing-Z-lock. Total and complete bullshit that I managed to pull off.

In my 3rd week of shotokan karate.
Holy shit it is boring and nearly useless, but I have nothing better to do on Tuesdays and Thursdays and it is practically free so far.
Plus I spend around a hour after class working out so it is not a total waste of time.
I found out from the head instructor that you actually have to go up 3 ranks before they even teach round house kick, and two ranks to learn one kind of side kick. Have to wait all the way to black belt to even learn a single spin kick.
I learned all that stuff in my first few weeks in my main art. I though a striking art would progress faster then this but instead most of the time is just useless kata.
I wish I had money, then I could just cross-train in a actual combat sport.

I miss this guy. After dumping the WWE during the early days of Cena's rise and Benoit's self-destruction, I came back to the WWE became of CM Punk. But he's gone and the WWE has now reached newer lows. I gave up after the 2015 Wrestlemania, when it became apparent he was not coming back.

The worse part is that Punk's sacrifice (bailing after RR and effectively escalating the fan backlash and removing the planned HHH/Punk match) was for nothing. They waited too long to pull the trigger on Daniel Bryan and by the time they put the belt on him, he had suffered a career ending injury and had to be stripped of the belt as soon as he won it. And the entire farce basically killed Batista's legacy to the point that he's never going to come back to the WWE.
