Hi everyone, my title is pretty much it. Apologies if my English is bad, it is not my first language.
My 9 year old son is Muslim, loves the culture and history, and loves reading about and looking up to Muslim people. My wife and I aren't practicing, (we don't force religion) but he just loves it all. My son is a huge fan of WWE, especially John Cena, Bayley, Roman Reigns, Enzo/Big Cass, and Sami Zayn. He has been having some trouble at school recently, being bullied for being Muslim/terrorist jokes and such.
He loves Sami Zayn, and has noticed the script on his tights. I have told him that Sami's family comes from Syria and Canada (that was confusing for him at 8 haha) but I don't know if Sami is Muslim as well. I know many Syrian-Canadians are Christian. I know this might be intrusive and rude to ask about private religion. Has Sami ever said anything publicly about being Muslim? I've read people say he is, but not any proof. It would make my son so happy if he was.
P.S. My son doesn't know Sami is returning at Takeover: London. He's gonna go crazy :)

If you don't already know how to fight, go for it.
I'd chose that over weight-lifting, track and field, or whatever else they offer, any day of the week.
It teaches technique, which is which is what (most) beginners need, and it even has sparring (which, for most people even though it's 2015 and I shouldn't have to mention that part, is very important for using technique in a fight, be it a tournament fight, or street fight).

I enjoy weightlifting, I figure it would be good to take it as a class rather than go in my leisure. But if this karate class will teach me skills (I want to box, I would take boxing if they had it) then I'll gladly take it and just weight lift in my spare time.

Any trained person (with sparring) will have an upper hand on an untrained fighter (unarmed) or a thug with no formal training. Kicking isn't ineffective, but a missed kick could set you up for a counter.
Which is better for you depends largely on: why you want to fight and what suits you best.
General consesus is (arguably) that:
0. Firenship is the most powerful MA of all
1. Pipebombs are the best MA if you have no friends
2. Parkour is a close second
3. Going to the ground is generally a bad idea, because lava, syringes and rule 0.

Avoiding fights is better than not avoiding them. You never know when someone will pull a knife on you.
