I think this is the right board for this.
For quite a while I've thought archery looked like fun. I'm not the most physically fit, I know, shocker, and I've been looking for something to help get me to get up a bit more. I've tried my hand at knife throwing, which is actually really fun, but it strains my back and I'm not in the best condition for that. Don't know if I ever will be. I don't know if shooting a bow would be better or worse for this, but I'd still like to at least try it out.
The problem is, I live in a small town. No club or anything, noone I know who does it, and I don't have much money. All I want is a simple bow that's not going to cost too much in case it's too hard on me. I just don't know where to start though. I don't care about all these bows with pulleys and little holders for your arrows on it or whatever. A simple cheap wooden bow would be fine with me.
I was hopin someone on here could help me out. Tips on finding a good bow, if there's anything I should know before even considering it or what. I'd really appreciate any help I can get.

Hey man, i don't know shit about arrows but I definitely wanna own one at some point. You probably want to look for a traditional bow with light draw weight. Do you research online, watch youtube videos too and make sure you find the right draw weight. That's all i can suggest, i hope you find the right one!

We used to have general archery threads before WoW showed up. They also have one on /out/. I'm no robin hood, but this is the basic standard advice for newfriends iirc.

I started archery a few months ago and i really enjoy it.
I wanted to start cheap, in case i didn't like it that much.
Got myself a bear titan which is a sturdy, universal 30 # beginners bow around 40 usd.
I shoot it in the backyard in a range of about 30 to 35 yards.
It's good and fun and i enjoy it but a replacement string and 3 decent arrows to achieve some good results were as much as the bow itself.
Also its harder to pull and less accurate than a similar recurve take down bow and I'm not able to upgrade the strength of the bow.
So consider this if you really want to start on low cost.
It is said that the samick sage is a nobrainer in case of cost/quality/performance ratio.
