/biz/ I'm in a quandry.
I know if I want to become independent and start my family off the right way, with trust funds etc, I need to start and own my own business. The problem is I'm really, really, bad at seeing problems that the general populace needs solved. The only business idea I have is opening a bank (unrealistic because of the huge amount of capital involved) or some kind of investment fund (again, highly regulated and requires huge amounts of up front investment I simply don't have). What types of businesses are out there that don't require...

I've considered going that route, my only concern is that it requires some time in the field to fully grasp the pricing models that work well. I'm already older than my student peers because I took time off from school to work full-time and feel this route would put me even further behind.

Work for a few random businesses until you find one that is rolling in money and has ridiculous profit margins.
Learn everything.
Then leave and start your own.
This is what I did.

The tears of fearful no coiners will be so delicious once this gains traction and I sell small part of my bag to a laggard for exchange of a nice, sleek, black Lambo. :)

The tears of ETH investors when they lose all their money cause "Bitcoin 2.0" can't compete with the real shit :^)
>>1105509
The tears of chinese bitcoin miners after they realise their mining farms are obsolete because they ran out of bagholding white devils due to their own greed.
just a friendly reminder to buy btc back,
ethereum pump is over.
I have tried to find the retards in this board in numerous occasions:
>>1096360
Imagine if they:
1) Maintained a long term BTC position by understanding BTC is all that matters
2) Shorted ETH and dumped during the clear peak before the dump
2) Profitted by diversifying on some MAID and profiting for the initial pump (still done)
3) Basically keep making your BTC wallet bigger and see it grow as we march towards the next ATH
Jesus fucking christ. Im making too much money.
Buy the Ethereum dip. Soon Ethereum will double in value. Do not end up a BTC bagholder for chinese miners.
Ethereum will make crypto real.
Ethereum will be the biggest and most secure blockchain very quickly. The number of nodes is growing very fast and will overtake bitcoin this year.
Ethereum will become the de facto blockchain by 2017.
Guaranteed to be over a billion market cap before christmas 2016
Ethereum is a breath of fresh air to the general public who are sick to death of bitcoin and are not easily fooled by the bitcoin pyramid...

I have paid a Freelancer in India to program an app for me. I'm now looking into how to market it. Do you guys have any marketing and monetization insights? I'm new at this.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pbi.whatsappsafe
I tried to name the app otherwise at first but Google Play said I infringed Whatsapp's copyright. Which was strange because they allow other Whatsapp 'mods' too.
>trying to sell a shitty made by pajeet app in 2016
LOL try harder kiddo
>>1108455
I hate to say your app is shit

I'd put a little bit more effort into the storefront. Idk if you're paying for reviews but, the grammar is pretty bad on the one I saw. I can't speak for the product quality itself, but that page should be full of content and features before you begin any sort of marketing campaign. Overdo that page bro. Then push...do market tests and rely heavily....HEAVILY on the subsequent data. Best of luck.
How important is college GPA in the real world?
How important is your GPA if you have a non-meme major?
what the fuck is a meme major
the majors at the top of that list?
yes GPA fucking matters
my colleagues were fucking astounded when they found out where I got a job
yeah it's because i worked hard and got good grades (and interned a lot)
Pretty important I think.
Internships are by far the most important thing and considering most of them, if not at least the best ones only look for good GPAs as a bare minimum with needs of exceeding it to be competitive it's pretty important.
>>1107704
C's get degrees. If you've done your work right, >>1108342 has hit the nail on the head. If you have a 2.9 and a year long paid internship in your field, it's better than some Joe with a 4.0 and his thumb up his ass. Preferably, you'll have both, but if not, the experience with an ok GPA will go farther than a know-nothing with a high GPA.
Recently was fired from a former fortune 500 company going down the shitter quick. Nothing illegal, I was pretty much on my way out and was job hunting before this happened. Basically I made 1 mistake (nothing illegal, just against procedure) to help a customer out which snowballed because everything is being looked at under a microscope. Company recently laid off 200+ people and dissolved entire business segments.
I have a 50% chance of getting another job soon, but obviously not putting all my eggs in one basket so I've been tunneling out applications.
I...

just tell them you left and that you didn't feel the job was right for you, if they do a detailed background check your fucked though.
>>1107381
Or tell them your former employer is going under and flailing randomly.
>>1107387
I've heard it's not a good idea to bash former employer (even though that's literally what's happening)
>>1107381
Yea but saying I left already looks pretty sketchy imo.
Right now I've just been saying I'm looking for new opportunities and I'm still with them. Either that or I was affected by the cutbacks.
How does /biz/ think of The Economist?
>>1104776
With my dick.
It seems reddit as fuck. The pseuds on reddit always mention it as being good. tl;dr: Hurrdurr, if it increases GDP then it's good, no questions asked.
>>1104796
>Reddit encompasses both conservative and liberal idealism now.
The meme has gone beyond my understanding.
OK, /boz/, I've been working a couple years now and would like to become more responsible with my money. Every year I've put about 5k into a Roth IRA account with the broker/financial advisor that my parents use. If I'm only purchasing Vanguard index funds, is this a bad idea? Is there a way in which I can do this with lower trading and management fees since I'm just buying index funds?
I want to take a hands-off approach to investing and minimize the expenses that would eat into my fund growth.
bumpy for interest, 'cause I want to pick an etf but dunno which one.Try vanguard.
>>1108257
>is this a bad idea?
Yes. You're literally paying an advisor for nothing. Kudos on being smart enough to go with index funds, but you're giving up probably 1.0-1.5% annually in fees to an advisor who provides absolutely zero value.
Open an account at Vanguard and transfer the IRA there. Tomorrow.
>>1108560
Thanks. So I can just open an IRA account with Vanguard?
Sorry, yes, I am this stupid.
Why LISK called a scam and why participating in their ICO is a bad idea? They've been getting a lot hate, can't understand why.
>>1108605
They are getting hate, because of shady history, no added value, copycatting and trying to piggyback success of ETH.
Its another shitcoin ICO pyramid scheme, just what the world needed /s.
That being said I put in some BTC to dump as soon rhe value triples (yes it is a gamble).
I wanted to participate in the ico, when i browsed their website the lisk-ceo “max idontknow“ opened a pop-out chat asking me if i needed any help...too weird
Hey /biz!
I am software developer and analyst for 8 years. I decided to create a software that will act as programming assistant and publish it as open-source under GPL license. Since going to a global market is a great challenge, I am trying to decide how to make money of it. I'm trying to decide between donations or selling support. I am kinda against big corporate investment because I am afraid they could ruin my work. Do you have any kind of experience with this? If you do, feel free to share. Thank you in advance!
>>1107344
I'm trying to imagine what's meant by "programming assistant." I worked with alot of developers who were totally helpless without a few dozen special tools.
Hey /biz/. Making money is important, but watching how you spend your money effects your net worth just as much.
>Buy bulk food and learn to cook using staples
>Turn lights off in rooms you aren't using
>Drive fuel efficient cars
>Buy things that appreciate or stave inflation in value over time that you can still enjoy (Precious metals, collector items, guns)
The savings add up quick. These are pretty obvious but I want to hear...

How do i profit if the UK either leaves or stays in the EU?
I don't want George Soros stealing all the fun
Buy/sell GBP/EUR
Problem is, jt could go either way. For real this time. And if it goes your way that's great. But if it doesn't (and I assume you put in a lot of cash so you actually make something) it cost disappear before your eyes before you have the time to react.
Very risky
Also speculation
>>1108734
Yeah, it's a gamble. You think the UK is on the way out, then short GBP, if you think it's staying in then long GBP. Don't make the wrong call.

1. Find a keyword you can rank highly for on Google that isn't over-saturated and not dominated by big websites
2. Make shitty Wordpress website for it and pay some dudes on fiverr to spam it to get your PageRank up
3. Make money with ads
4. ???
5. Profit and repeat for 5-10 websites until you're making decent money
Really not hard at all.
a masters degree in international trade its useful or just another meme? pls, be serious
Of course it's useful. You'll have to work hard as fuck because every one wants the jobs. You won't see the top job till you're in your 50s.
not as useful as sucking dick
most masters degrees are a waste of time.
Even an MBA is falling into this category slowly.
