I mean heres ewy (another south korean etf) and it bounced back nicely after the collapse. What am i missing? Why did ewy bounce and kf rot in hell?

Look at the differences between them. I haven't looked at this at all but the most likely reason is large vs smaller caps. Or currency hedged.

Is it better to get situated in life when you get money or to immediately invest? Like say you inherited enough to buy a house, car and some clothes. Would it be better to buy those things or just invest it all and stay where you are in life. JW

>>
Clothes depreciate rapidly. As does a car.
I'd change absolutely nothing expect a dollar cost averaging program that occurs monthly or biweekly into an index fund. I suggest VNQ or VOO.
>>
>>1259158

houses depreciate rapidly too after adjustment for inflation.
>>
It depends what sort of lifestyle you want, your goals, your environment, etc. Any advice you get that says X is always better than Y is bullshit.

Do you simply want to subsist? In that case the house and car might be the best option, then you don't have to be too concerned about your income outside of saving for retirement.

Do you want to maximize your net worth in the long-term? In that case investing in an index fund might be the better choice.

The fundamental question: is it better to spend $X to eliminate costs of $Y, or to invest $X and deal with costs $Y?

Here's a good article on the subject: http://jlcollinsnh.com/2012/02/23/rent-v-owning-your-home-opportunity-cost-and-running-some-numbers/

because they don't need to. they have enough money being privately held.

Going long on big taxi companies obviously. Seems highly speculative though.
>>
>>1258246
>>1258833

From a logistics standpoint, there is no way taxi takes back its market. Uber destroys it in pretty much every facet; cost, options, service, etc.

Am I missing something?

What dogs ate most business orientated?
If i did animal breeding on the side, which pupper would make me the most per litter? I think black russian terriers.

Depends on your local market.

Here it's french bulldogs and I have put serious consideration into breeding them just for as side income. My job's travel requirements prevent it unfortunately.
>>
>>1258109
Short answer, No.

Sure logically it's a good idea for some cash but you have to find a purebred male for your female and either pay for breeding or buy him outright.

Then when you do get puppers what are you going to do when you only sell half the litter?

Edging on puppy mill if you ask me.

I would suggest a few other options.

A small home based dog rescue. If you promote it enough locally you could get local government funding in addition there are national grants you can apply for, it is needed.

Chickens.

Depending on your area Urban or Rural you could raise between 20 to 100 chickens half for eggs half for meat (different types) they are cheap to raise and require little maintenance compared to other livestock.
>>
>>1258109
Most per litter isn't your main metric. For any business with inventory its velocity of sales.

In your case too you need to consider velocity of restocking.

If it takes you 3 months to sell a litter that's b/s
If it takes you 3 days that's good.
As a general rule.
Unless you have some obscenely valuable dog that just sells for 10x per puppy more or offer ancillary services like pretrained dogs and charge 10x more.

So I'm writing a paper on the Great Depression and the New Deal for this history college course I'm taking. My professor (a historian) seems to have a very rudimentary knowledge of economics and has a hard-on for FDR and his policies.

What economic insights about the Great Depression and the New Deal could I talk about that would blow him away? Like I said, he's not an economist and has never heard anyone actually pronounce Keynesian correctly.

I need to be disgustingly rich.

The only way to get there is OWNING A BUSINESS that DOMINATES AN INDUSTRY.

And, that requires being top-10% in one industry's technology, in Sales, in Management, and in Will to Power.

My networth is close to $40k, does that make me below the poverty line?

Yup. With the 4% rule, $2 million generates $80,000 per year income. That's barely a middle-class income.

All of the money in the US economy has to go to paying for the military industrial complex, supporting boomers, and mexicant/dindu welfare

All the money in Canadacuck, Ausfailia, and EUcuck countries has to go towards mass refugee welfare, sanddindu welfare, and government surveillance of all whites
>>
>>1262984

All Aus money goes into financing mortgages and boomer retirements. Something like 62% of welfare goes to pensioners, 33% to disability and the remaining 5% to unemployment benefits.

How, with fantastic amounts of capital. It is literally the most expensive real estate in the world.

lol No it's not. You can buy a brand new one room apartment for around 260,000USD in downtown Tokyo, that's on par or cheaper than what's found in most Western capitals and far behind the prices found other Asian cities such as Singapore or Hong Kong.

How does a U.S. American profit off something like this over the next coming years on a tiny starting budget?

Not necessarily asking for specific plans, but maybe a vague idea?

How often does Robinhood or yahoo refresh a stock price change and how often does yahoo refresh stock market changes? If i see a 2 dollar stock price per stock is it possible it changes in the time it takes me to choose the number of stocks i want, accept the price, and pay?

No idea. As it's a broker, I should imagine it will be real time.

>how often does yahoo refresh stock market changes?
Yahoo! quotes are 15-20 minutes delayed depending on market.

https://finance.yahoo.com/exchanges

>s it possible it changes in the time it takes me to choose the number of stocks i want, accept the price, and pay?
Of course. The market price is changing every second. You need real time quotes.

Little tip: do as much market research as possible when the markets are closed. That way you don't have to think so much about what/how much to buy when they're open.
>>
>>1262474
yes. use limit orders instead of market orders if you want to avoid buying above a certain price. read up on the different order types on ivestopedia, dicknose. most amateur investors can probably live without real time data if theyre not trying to get rick daytrading

Hey /biz/ how would you go about making 700 bucks per month, I don't need it immediately but it would be good if it was some kind of business that could start making that money on the short term (2-6 months).

But I figured that since it isn't that much money I would like to make it semi-automated or at least something that doesn't consume that much time (2hr max per day once it takes off)
I was thinking something web like a blog or maybe coding a website that does some simple shit where I deliver the content or reselling etc.

Any ideas /biz/? any of you guys done anything similar? any warnings or tips?
(I would probably manage with only making 500 but I'm aiming at 700, also if it matters I'm not in the US)
