If at all possible you should be contributing the IRS limit which is $18000 this year ($24000 if you are 50+), or as near to it as you can afford. Figure out what percentage of your salary that is and contribute that much.

Hello,

So I worked for this company, for years, where I was paid 50k to work 50 hour weeks and sell shit on commission- however, after a few weeks in, I met people, and well, I met the people that owned the OTHER gold recycling facilities and had no employee, and the same kind of inventory to use.

Well, I threw as much of my personal savings as I could, mostly money paid to me by the company, and bought as much of that shit as I could- and flipped it to people to people overseas when I got home from work, all night long.

So the company that has employed me has gone out of business. Creditors seized all assets.

I want to offer the creditor a lump sum of my money (I'm making more than I know what to do with it) and buy the damn plant myself.

Then I know I will always have a steady supply of the shit I sell- and I can make money on the actual plant's operations, the melting cash for gold junk bracelets, etc.

Any advice? Great idea? Bad idea?

Sounds like a plan if you know the business. You seem like the kind of guy to have good credit, so this is the kind of thing you'd want to get a bank loan for.

What's the hottest STEM degree right now? What's it gonna be in 2020?

I hear a lot of people splerg over CS, but isn't an EE degree just an applied and superior CS degree?

Is a math degree worth anything more than concrete proof of your autism? Is there 'bad' engineering degrees, or is it just memes upon memes?

Is STEM overhyped garbage in general, or is it worth pursuing beyond academia lustfest reasons?

>enlighten me

I'm probs going into MechE, but something like CompSci could be cool because I think AI / machine learning is dank af.

You can't go wrong with EE. It seems the least saturated and plenty of work out there. EE and CS are pretty much completely different unless you take a path of EE with logic programming or a lot of computer courses.IMO, math is garbage compared to EE or ME. ME is definitely alot more saturated than EE.
>>
>>1020649
lol that's not a lambo.
>>
>>1020649
ME, EE, and CivilE are still the trifecta of engineering; everything else is just a derivative

Math can be useful if you have a plan and do internships and extracurriculars accordingly. You won't do engineering with it though.

STEM is overhyped, companies are actively promoting it to bring up supply and drive down cost (salary). Still worth it if you love it, of course.

Might seem like a stupid question, but apart from things like GDP decreasing, how do you actually tell that whatever country youre in is experiencing a recession?

For example im in NewZealand and want to capitalize off a recession and buy stocks, at what point do I know that my country is in a recessive state? OCR is low? Rely on the news if they report unemployment is rising?

Or is going on google and looking at countries history of GDP and look at the business cycle which peaks and troughs every 8 years or so? (I think?)

Just look at the increase of money that has to compensate the expenses of the government.
For example, real one though,
The US government is in deep debt shit and is increasing tax money, insurance, tuition money etc, money has to come from somewhere to make up for the economic downturn the nation is experiencing. The United States will fall if it does not reform it's economy. They're depending on their currency value mostly now. "Hurr durr it's okay the country is going to shit, everyone is buying our currency" - stupid government. What they don't realize is investors sooner or later will realize that the country is going to shit like brazil or Venezuela or whatever and pull out.
>>
If you plot the posting data and that country happens to be shitpoating on /int/ more than usual desu.

How do I kill my desire for a family?

I'm 20 and I'm constantly thinking about getting married and having a big family, but I don't want that to fuck up my dreams of becoming a multimillionaire...

what do?

Just realize that as a man you can have a family at any point and you'll be fine. In fact your ability to get good female partners increases with your net worth. Getting married now is selling yourself short. I've already made this mistake, you shouldn't.

Travel. Once you see how other people have to travel with shitty kids you feel sorry for them. When you travel you actually change the chemistry of your brain into survival and exploration. Like being a kid again and kids don't think about having kids.

Im 29 years old and have been raising beef cattle for the last 5 years I only have a small operation with 12 cows, but I enjoy it and would like to make this my full time source of income, I was noticing even in the rural area I live in no one my age is into this type of business except maybe 2 other guys and I wonder why? I know that it is profitable so why do young ppl shy from this type of career ?
76 posts and 4 images submitted.
>>
Well, I have no land and no cattle. Plus I know nothing about animals. How on earth could I possibly get such a career? It's easier to get a deskjob or start my own business. That's why no one does it.

If you start such a business I might be wise to diversify your products a bit though. And get a good insurance in case something happens to your products.

I'm 24 and I would love to earn a living doing something related to agriculture. The main obstacles to someone like me doing this sort of thing is the fact that it seems like a difficult profession to break into. Most people who do this lifestyle were born into families that have been doing it for years. There seems to be a lot that can go wrong - especially if you don't know what you're doing.
>>

This line of work interests me but I don't come from that culture and would find trouble getting started. I'm 19 right now and I've applied to SO many ranch hand jobs but they pretty much only want experience. Any advice on how to get into this stuff would be greatly appreciated.

Also, how profitable would you say it really is? As far as I know, cattle ranches have been offering other sorts of entertainment (horse rides and shit to stay afloat).
