/biz/ I'm in a quandry.
I know if I want to become independent and start my family off the right way, with trust funds etc, I need to start and own my own business. The problem is I'm really, really, bad at seeing problems that the general populace needs solved. The only business idea I have is opening a bank (unrealistic because of the huge amount of capital involved) or some kind of investment fund (again, highly regulated and requires huge amounts of up front investment I simply don't have). What types of businesses are out there that don't require huge start up costs but for someone who only knows finance? I'm studying finance because I was told that I'm a sociopath and only care about money, and perhaps that's true, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of room for new businesses in this space.
Any advice?

Tax prep. You will want to be an enrolled agent eventually.

I've considered going that route, my only concern is that it requires some time in the field to fully grasp the pricing models that work well. I'm already older than my student peers because I took time off from school to work full-time and feel this route would put me even further behind.

Work for a few random businesses until you find one that is rolling in money and has ridiculous profit margins.
Learn everything.
Then leave and start your own.
This is what I did.

Not that I intend to copy you but just out of curiousity what does your business do?

Unless you have time machine, you only waste more time and energy thinking that you are behind others.
You can only start now or later. You can only be you.
What is better: Turn 50 and start doing something that brings in $$$ or turn 50 and still do nothing because younger people already do it?
Just fucking do it, what ever it is, at any time it is.

That definitely makes sense. I just worry because my wife and I are going to start out family soon and my goal is that I want to send all of my children to good private schools. So essentially I have 15 years to be able to afford $50K a year in school costs. Not to mention good colleges.

Gay porn still has good margins.
Plenty of gay porn dudes have a waifu.
