Hey /biz/. How do I not get robbed paying over $600 for car insurance every month?I'm a 19 year old community college student and I currently hold 2 points on my license (blew a red light in NJ) but I plan on taking that Safe Driving course shit and apparently it would make them go away. The other thing is, convincing somebody to put me under their policy is not a choice simply because nobody wants to take that risk upon themselves. Parents is a no also (family issues). What do I do ? Should I invest in kneepads even more every month? Pic related

I have an accounting exam tomorrow and I cannot wrap my head around IRR. The internet tells me one thing, my fucking stupid lecturer tells me another
Now I do not have the slightest clue as to how to work this out, some help would be great:
In a calculation of the internal rate of return (IRR) of a project it is found that the net present value is +£140m at 20% discount rate and -£84m at 22% discount rate. What is the IRR?

Disclaimer: I'm only a MathsFag and have not a fucking clue about finance or what IRR is.
Now, assuming we're looking for a value between 20% and 22% discount rate to give £0, I did:
(£140/(£140--£84) * 2% + 20% = 21.25%.

oil has been fairly volatile lately so personally i just stay away from risky investments like this.
If you really do want to invest i would spend a whole boat load of time researching oil. From what i've read, it doesn't seem that a lot of people expect oil to rally anytime soon.

I have ~13000USD in stock that my grandfather gave me when i was 10. Thankfully my parents didn't let me sell it and blow it when I was 18. Im 22 now, they still have technical control but I'd like to start really investing it smarter and generating something resembling a monthly income. It's in some kind of high dividend stock right now, with all the dividends going back into the stock. Sorry I dont know much about it desu.

Find out which stock first, if its linked too heavily with the price of oil then I'd wait till later to start fiddling around.
I wouldn't expect too much money from it - high reward always comes with high risk. As a rule of thumb you might gain a 20th of your money per year.
Stocks are great and all but for most people they'll never replace a job.
