General discussion - whats a more effective strategy, passively investing through a index tracking fund, or seeking out individual stocks with high dividend yields (income investing through stocks)?

You go into the s&p 500 for a minimum liability monetization.
It's not the best thing in the world, as this year shows the s&p can dip for periods of months on end, and that's time you've lost potentially monetizing the money.
If you are a financial analyst or have lots of free time/are a fulltime daytrader, you can manage the liability of short term trading and make large gains. Outside of that, the capital gains tax makes daytrading not really worth it.
Anyway those are the meme answers. There are dramatic exceptions to them, but they are rarer.

Hey guys, Eurofag here. I'm a managing member in an American (CA) LLC which owns some websites. The reason I set that up in the US is legal, and we've been paying taxes yearly, no problems so far.
However, now I'd like to sell one of the websites, and the price is about $60k. My accountant tell me that I will likely have to pay 15% of that money as "long term capital gains" tax.
Is there any way to avoid this, or reduce it? I know there's plenty of investors here and, from my understanding, long-term investments are treated the same,...

Actually the site mostly has visitors from rich oil countries and Europe, so what I'm doing is paying taxes on foreign profits in the USA. You're welcome.

There's this lottery here in germany that costs you 9€/month and you get the chance to win a monthly rent of 3750€ per month until you die.

So /biz/ness men, I'm going to my first conference in a few weeks. I'm in my early 30s and will be away from the senpai for 3 nights at a hotel. During this time the conference has all sorts of activities lined up, a dance party, drinking, and dinners. It's gonna be filled with old white people from what I hear and pics I've seen of the past conferences, but I I did spot a few younger women.
My question to you /biz/ is this, have any of you hooked up at a conference? What's the etiquette? Any pointers? Or should I expect to remain in my room...

Tell me your study method
I'm 23 years old. In a year I'll be graduating from an average state school with an MA in international relations. I did my undergraduate degree in political science. I only have about $5,000 in debt from undergrad. I live at home with my parents and my stipend comes out to about $1,100 a month during the school year.
Past year:
