Old person with semi-lengthy professional history here. I find it mildly useful to keep in touch with people I've worked with, or met at professional events, but with whom I'm not necessarily particularly friendly. Not everyone's card makes it into my various contact lists. I don't have many personal friends on LinkedIn, and I am not Facebook friends with professional colleagues, so they're useful separate networks.
Does anyone have any good suggestion for software to use to manage a portfolio? I can login online on the company's website and view it, but I'd like to have a separate software so i could set up different scenarios and see what the differences would be.

So I recently found out that my transaction history online for my payments with Bank of America do not last forever, not only that, but they barely last over a year.
This is pathetic and makes me want to switch banks immediately.
Yes, I should have backed up my payment history myself but I thought this would be available until I closed the account.
For $12 a month in maintenance, you'd expect them to keep the logs available for the life of the account. We're not talking gigabytes here, we're talking mega or maybe even kilobytes of data they're deleting for no reason.

I mean, online shopping sites keep your shit on record for longer. This is retarded. I want to ditch BoA and go with another bank which keeps these logs forever. Is that possible or am I SOL?
Preferably I'd like one which lets you delete them manually if you choose, or hide them.
BoA lets you rename transactions to things like "Dildo from Amazon" but it's pointless to organize this shit which gets auto deleted in a year.

I work at a community bank as an underwriter, but I have my personal accounts at the bank. Our system keeps transaction data for the life of the account. They also send a monthly statement with all transactions.
Do you not have your prior monthly statements? I'm not sure about the regulations but I'd think they'd at least have to keep that info for a few years. Try to stop by or call them to see if you can get copies of prior monthly statements.

You can't "test it out" with minimal capital. You'll be losing $16-20 each time you wish to buy a meme(fees for buying and then selling).

Assuming you're sufficiently educated on the languages, (front end, back end, or full stack up to you) create a portfolio of your projects.
Then go to small businesses and professionals and say they have a shit website and cite some research about $x increase in sales from a better website for only $x/y. Don't ever do anything for free even if you are just starting off. Insist on your value add and go else where if they refuse.
Replace your portfolio with the better websites or work as you get better. Now fill in your resume with consulting experience for x months for the previous companies and professionals. Then network with other developers and ask them to try to get you in their company and also apply through standard routes everywhere. And I mean everywhere. You only need a few accepted applications even from shitty companies to leverage better offers. You probably won't get to Google or Amazon, but you can still get a comfy salary if you prove your expertise.

Look, you need to make it through the CompSci program. Two big reasons:
1. The dummies in HR aren't even going to look at a resume without a degree and tons of buzzwords. It doesn't matter how good you are or how relevant it is to the job, they're just ticking off boxes.
2. Assuming you really want to be a decent developer, you have to know backend technologies. You'll have to interact with Java/C#/PHP and a database (SQL) on almost any project. As a new hire, you don't have the luxury of faking and failing than an established, but equally incompetent, dev would.

Yes you would have to pay taxes on it. In the US if you only make 16 an hour your taxes won't be too bad.
Your quality of life/ standard of living would probably be about the same, but at least the US has some warmer climates than Poland.

I'm halfway through the final year of my economics degree at a shit tier university and on track for a run of the mill 2.1 (3.4-8gpa i think), I'm hoping to complete the GMAT when I am done too and with a current, no training, mock score of 600 I hope to push that up to 650+ and if i still find no luck on entering the industry I will look to do a masters in finance at a top business school.
But sadly that is all I have to offer and I am aware that I find myself at the bottom of the pile but I don't want to be deterred just yet since I am happy to take any low level position available in the whole of London and I want to give it my best shot

Do you plan on immediately going to grad school? I did so to get my MBA since I graduated from undergrad in 2009 so the job market, especially finance, was shitty.
The good thing about going to grad school is that the internships there are so much better than undergrad. Basically all my undergrad internships were unpaid busy work. In the MBA program, I did corporate finance work at Lockheed Martin for $20 an hour. Of course, the downside is a lot of grad programs don't accept people without work experience. But grad school is a great place to network.
As for the GMAT, it's literally SAT 2.0 and was stupid. There are a lot of schools that don't really care for score and rely more on GPA and recommendations. I went to grad school at the same school for undergrad and had recommendations from several tenured professors in the school of business making it easy to get accepted into the MBA program.

Eh, I don't really recommend that. If you want to get into investments, just study to get your CFA, it will be helpful.

Network, network, network. Join organizations like the CFA. Are you a minority? If so, they have National Society of Hispanic MBA's and Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting. Through them, I got multiple interviews with Goldman Sachs, Target, Disney, BoA, etc. Even if you aren't a minority, you can still go to their job fairs. I went one year to one with my white friend and he ended up with a corporate finance offer from Chick-fil-a.

Not a minority, just a poor white kid from the suburbs in London, the one thing I do have is a nice story of how I used to be a labourer and set up trading desks in almost all the top banks, Credit Suisse, JP Morgan, Citi Group etc that someone might hopefully sympathise with. Was kind of fun being in some of the most secure data centres in the world with the potential to cause a catastrophe as an 18 year old
I haven't done an internship (probably a poor decision on my part) as I started Uni late and didn't want to fall even further back. My plan is to finish this year off and secure whatever position I can in the summer and see where it takes me but all my income will go towards a masters the following year if I am unhappy with where I am
