I'm trying to decide which kind of house loan is better for me, and I'm hoping for some advice
House is $285k
30 year fixed rate is quoting 3.537% APR
15 year fixed rate is quoting 2.850% APR
I'm putting up 30K as down payment
resulting in a monthly payment of
30y: $1,452
15y: $2,048
My debate is is it better to save that ~$600/mo and try to invest
or bite the bullet and try to pay as little interest as possible.
my total paid at the end of the loan math works out to

Paying off loans is for suckers. Get a short term loan with a small interest rate, only pay the interest. Then after 10 years or do take out another loan and pay off the old loan. Repeat forever

Open up an excel spreadsheet, and put in your mortgage payments/balance.
Now, calculate your net worth after 15 years if you took the 15-year mortgage.
Then, assume some interest rate for investments (say, 5-6% in some index fund), and assume you pay the 30-year rate, and dump the $600 difference into investments every month.
Compare your net worth under each plan after fifteen years. Pick the plan with the higher net worth (hint: it's the 30-year mortgage.)

Hi Anons. I'm going to be attending a Liberal Arts School starting this fall. It's not a top school, but it's decent (top 75 LAC).
Anyways, I already know I want to major in Economics. However, with all the AP credits I have, I have come to the conclusion I'll be able to double major pretty easily. You take 36 courses, and I need to take about 10 or 12 more to fulfill my general graduation and major specific requirements.
Because I'll be able to potentially finish up Economics my second year, I figure a double major might be a good solution....

So I'm about to come into a large amount of money, and I want the absolute safest investments one can make.
No stock market gambling and shit, I mean real secure, like government bonds.
Suggestions?
Nothing is totally "safe". Right now govt bonds pay very low interest rates. If it's really a lot of money I'd break it into pieces:
40% Income Property (Commercial, Residential, etc)
40% Vanguard Low Cost Total Market Index Fund VTSMX
15% CDs and Bonds
5% Liquid Cash
This mix protects you in many ways. No need to trade or gamble or time the markets if you don't want to. Just buy, hold, live off the rental income. You can get a property manager if you don't want to handle the day to day. That's what I do. :) Good luck!

We got the finished sequences last day, without testing it likely won't work. We have tomorrow, if I'd be there I couldn't do more, why would I cancel a 2000€ vacation if it doesn't help? I've been on a project that was years late before I came on board and the employer, after tying my hands for 6 months, had a shit fit over the lack of progress. It's not a fun place to be, especially when you need the paychecks to keep coming in.

Can someone explain to me what "Financial Aid" really is? The technical college I want to go to said Financial aid and grants pay for most of the school there. But my mom told me that financial aid is a loan you pay back, and she makes too much money for me to qualify. Is there truth to this? I dont want to pay the 6k for the schooling

Financial Aid is a mixture of loans and grants. Mostly loans though
You fill out a free form called FAFSA. If you are under 24, you are a dependent, and so you need to fill out your parent's income information. Once you are done, you get a number called the Expected Family Contribution(EFC). This goes to your school. The school uses this information to give you financial aid.
Financial aid comes in several forms. Financial aid from the government comes in both grants and loans. The name of the grants are the PELL grant and SEOG. There are several loans from the government. Each college can also offer their own grants and loans....
