Trying to into modeling
Anyone use monte carlo?
>>1032948
Male modeling or RC modeling?
I used to have a Monte Carlo in 1973.
>>1032948
From the slight exposure I have to modeling, yes, Monte Carlo method is invaluable. How are you applying it?
>>1032948
>monte carlo
useless shit
/biz/ I recently gave out a loan of $450 to a young mother I met online. She promised me $600 in return and let me hold on to some of her sentimental valuables, a necklase, pins, and a vape pen.
She was beating around the bush about meeting up with me again and has not contacted me in 4 days after I have called and texter her. i know Her address because I met her at her small apartment complex the first time.
What should I do? Any legal action I can take? Any experience with loaning money?
Did you write a contract? How do you know these things had sentimental value? Sounds like junk to me
>vape pen
>sentimental value
kek

It sounds like you bought some cheap jewelry and a vape pen for 450 dollars you extreme moron
So I'm a college student, I attend Santa Barbara city college. I'm receiving yearly checks due to a settlement I got as a child. I'm originally from Bakersfield, where the housing prices are a lot cheaper. Should I move back and finish my college there? My next check is going to be $20,000. How should I invest this? My uncle is a realtor and says I should invest it into units (property) and rent it out. Can someone give me some tips or advice?
The answer to that depends on how active you want to be with that money. If you want it to be completely passive just put it into an index fund.
More actively is your uncle offering to help you find a cheap rental property? 20k is only enough for a down payment and you'd have to go through the trouble of finding and keeping tenants.
If you want to actively trade your money. Then you've got a whole lot of studying to do.
These three answers range from least to highest reward and least to most effort.
>>1032825
No. Buy royalty trusts. BPT and PBT and others for example. pays you the same as a rent house and you don't have to fix anything or deal with meth makers. Valuation fluctuates just liie fucking houses. Houses are high now and oil is low. Hint, hint.
If you had 1 billion dollars to spend to increase innovation in your country what would you do?
With automation just around the corner western countries are going to have to innovate or die.

/future trend/ thread
Why Future Trend? So you can see WHAT'S NOT WORKING, and focus on what ACTUALLY works.
So let's get into the low down.
** Malls are dying off. Here is a news link:
http://www.cbsnews.com/news/a-dying-breed-the-american-shopping-mall/
http://www.businessinsider.com/shopping-malls-are-going-extinct-2014-1?op=1
http://www.newyorker.com/business/currency/are-malls-over
Why are malls dying?
Too much over heads - space rental, employees.
Too expensive for the consumers - why do I need to buy an overpriced "gold plated" $40 HDMI cable from future shop when I can get it $1 online AND have it shipped to my home
** Big MEDIA retails are dying off. Example: Blockbuster vs Netflix
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a4GjI8mNW2Q
Blockbuster was a media retail giant and it died because netflix took over. Why did Blockbuster died? Because Netflix is cheaper and more convenient.
Why do I want to drive to Blockbuster, rent a video and return it 3 days later, when I can watch on Netflix anytime I want, whenever I want?
What this means to you:
The future consumption of media is netflix, Amazon streaming etc. It's all about streaming into the tablets and smart phones. It isn't the "future" - it's now. It's mostly the baby boomers that still subscribe to cable TV.
>FUTURE
LMFAO
Bro, every new business should always consider oline retailing and commerce these days.
No space to rent, no employees, everything is automated and it's all online.
Who needs hulu and Netflix to give you what you want a week after TV where Googling "watch TV show sXXeYY online" can get you the episode an hour before TV on the west coast for free?
>>1032558
Despite what the haters say, I think VR technology is gonna be HUGE.
I think the automated car is still 10 years away at least.
China will be back, just gotta give them time.
VW will definitely be back. Give it 6 months for some more dust to settle, then invest.
Student loan bubble is for real, although IDK what that pop is gonna look like and how significant any reprocussions are gonna be.
Next president is gonna have a significant impact on what happens next with USA economy....

provided this isn't a troll thread
One should always take a step back before hitting the /buy or /sell buttons in your accounts.
Take into consideration what happens aftewards. In reality, the best strategy when you are affected by emotion is to do nothing and wait it out.
Hey /biz/, what's the best website to buy silver from? Planning on buying some in the near future in case the economy does something fucky.
Also questions that don't deserve their own thread I guess.
>>1032417
Where do you live?
How much capital are you wanting to invest?
Give some details.
You can find awesome shit on ebay. Look up spot prices on Google and find the best deal on ebay.

Who makes the best silver? American silver eagles?
>be me 18
>graduated high school
>forced to take gap year
>keep all my money in cash, around 10k
>start university in September, will commute from home
>would like to graduate university without taking loans
Is it bad that I'm keeping all my money in cash? I want to get that 30% off OSAP grant. I'm working 25-30 hours per week, until I start school. I'll probably...

the -30% has been around for years its not going anywhere.
osap is pretty generous with me and I just hold the excess in my bank. I'm one year from graduating though, so after any expenses relating to employment, ex. a car, a wardrobe, etc. I'll dump a sizeable amount into the debt.
the amount of funding I received really hasn't changed year by year after I've disclosed, roughly, the value of my bank balance and stock portfolio.
I guess you should just invest/spend a bit,...

dude /biz/ thought the entire economy was going to crash when the s&p fell 3% in one day back in...august I think?
/biz/ is populated primarily by rubes and wannabees with no actual skin in the game hence /biz/ is always bearish (also 4chan in general is cynical)
>>1032220
it did.
this is just a really long dead cat bounce.
if you haven't doubled your shorts you've made an irrevocable mistake.
only because china stopped letting most investors sell stocks so now they have toxic assets which will cause their bankruptcy, and in tandem the bankruptcy of their banks
I have about 1000 shares in Alcoa, 512 I bought at 7.88 and 482 or so I bought at 8.28. How fucked am I?
>>1032178
why did you even buy it?
>>1032195
Because they're profitable, low competition, aren't saddled with alot of debt and have the largest supply of Alumina and Aluminum in the world. The closure of some of their production facilities indicates that they could be trying to stem supply to keep the price of aluminum up and with a potential shortage in China's Manufacturing this could jack the price up which would benefit the largest holder of Aluminum. Panic sellers go nuts at the thought that they're closing a production facility and now the price has just collapsed.
Wait it out
I have a feeling that apple will crash really badly next year.
I have a feeling that OP is a faggot.
Oh what do you know I was right
>>1032135
Apple might be "too big to fail".
>>1032136
Yeah especially since they barely pay any taxes, use children for labor, and a ton of other shady business practices. Its like how Samsung practically controls the South Korean government.

Has America become this rich through capitalism? would they ever be this rich if their society was based around Marxism?
>>1031948
define "rich"
But in terms of pure power, capitalism has proved to be far better as it's just a more efficient system in terms of both giving people the ability to buy things, as well as giving the government the ability to buy better equipment.
As for your image, which is clearly bait, the EU may have a larger GDP than the US but it's also a "country" that won't be around in ten years due to conflicts of interest between France, Germany, and the PIGS.
>>1031948
no nigga lol
>>1031950
It's not bait at all Europe has almost double the population over America.
Just want to find out if the living standard and GDP would be a lot worse under a marxism society.
