How did you figure out what you wanted to do in life

I just picked something, ideally I'd like to do everything I figured I would just start doing one thing first and work my way up there. Just pick something and off you go.

Pick something useful. Something that will make you money. If you're going to be unhappy you might as well be rich.

Never seen one of these before so here goes,

Thread about brands
When picking stocks, I think brand development is one of the most overlooked and intuitive aspects of investing

So who's growing their brand and who's coasting
>most powerful brands (hardmode: no blue chips)

>weakest brands (hardmode: specifically blue chips)

for keks
>best and worst ad campaigns

I'll try to stick to industries I've actually done in depth financial analysis on. Like I said, intuition usually prevails in these industries

Brands gaining momentum
>Nike
>UA
>Home Depot
Becoming the exclusive go-to store for contractors
>Amazon
>Yuengling
private company whatever
>>

ew, gross formating

Weakening brands

Apple
>Terrible design and no innovation since jobs died, they survive entirely off the excitement of their next product and people are losing excitement
Facebook
Pepsi
>most people can't even recognize their new logo, when was the last time you bought a pepsi
McDonalds
>biggest branding flop of all time, they grossly over reacted to supersize me and the whole health craze
Taco Bell
>What are they even doing these days
Adidas/every other athletic clothing company, they're just handing market share to Nike and UA
Walmart
>Not handling online distributors' success well
Subway

how are you measuring 'brand development' - it seems like a potentially interesting parameter to look at but you're not begin clear how you're quantifying it. It is something that ought to be quantified if you want to give it any serious weight - some subjective personal opinion of how well a brand is doing is likely to be unreliable.

How risky is a public storage business?

I'd like to buy a plot of land and have it fenced with 24h keycard access and fill the land with shipping containers and rent them out.
14 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
It's not that risky as long as you don't take on a lot of debt and can get all the zoning done without hassle.

Was actual looking to do one of these projects myself with a carwash on half the property but ended up starting another company with more potential. Even if you have it fully rented it you aren't looking at alot of cash relatively compared to a a tech based startup.
>>
enjoy not getting paid properly by your customers and/or ending up being liable for the shady shit they do there
>>
I was thinking of starting one, like specifically for storing cars. It's a very simple business, it usually works as long as startup costs are low, so do it in a cheap area

typos in your summary first off.

>within non for profit sector
It's also too long. THat's not much of a summary when it's a section of it self.
>>
Remove the extra line spaces

After that, your resume will be about 1/4 of a page. Think of some shit to say about yourself which is valuable to a company beyond typing "gaytabase" over and over

This.

There's people with phds and 10+ years of work experience who fit their resume on a single page. Why can't you?

Any /biz/nessmen with experience using them or adderall? I think I might have depression, but (reasonably, though long story) don't trust therapists/psychiatrists so I've never gotten any counsel beyond two initial concerns of having dysthymia.

I'm going back to uni and cannot talk to the counseling services there, so I need to self-medicate. I just want to be driven again, to be honest.

Adderall won't treat depression.

I have depression. I tried antidepressants (an SSRI, specifically) very briefly. It worked. However I felt like a different person. I didn't want to take a pill and be someone I'm not.

Learn natural ways to cope with depression. Stay busy. Find a hobby. Do things that make you happy. Idle hands are the devil's workshop.

It's not your fault for being born poor - it IS your fault for staying poor. Go back to /r9k/ you fucking faggot
>>
Poverty is the state of nature.

However, nowadays if you were born in a 1st world country and you can't hit middle class, you're either stupid, emotionally unstable, or you fucked up big time.

Really the question becomes: can you blame someone for being stupid/lazy/etc?
>>
>>979741
See.
>>979743

Now not every poor person is going to be uber elite 1% and it'd be stupid to say "It's poor people's fault they aren't billionaires" when nearly every billionaire had millionaire parents, that elite level of wealth comes down largely to the foundation established during your childhood and poorfag parents just can't give you that.

But a poor person can make it to living comfortably, oh undoubtedly so.

>not buying iron instead

OK, /biz/, I've got a bit of a situation here. My father was a business owner who process and sold agricultural commodities. However, he recently suffered a completely debilitating stroke. I just graduated college and my mother has asked me to manage/sell the company and in return she will give me partial ownership. The company itself is no longer profitable and is in a declining and consolidating industry. Also, with no experience, I've got no idea what the fuck I'm doing. The company is nearly out of cash, but we still own the property (pic related).

The 2 main warehouses are pretty much open air. There is no heating/cooling and it is not sealed against the elements. Also, the roof leaks and it is dirty/smelly as fuck. We do have rail access.

Wut do?

Liquidate everything as soon as possible.
>>
>>979586
Turn the business into something profitable or liquidate all remaining assets and cash out for pennies on the dollar.

Not sure what you expect /biz/ to tell you. You could probably lease the warehouses for storage assuming you own the property and aren't just leasing it yourself.

I think dad would be proud to see his son revolutionize his creation and make it successful again.

Can we discuss online brokers /biz/?

I want to start putting all my money into ETFs slowly. How can I do this in the easiest manner possible? I don't really understand a lot of the terminology especially regarding fees. I'm guessing most of it doesn't apply to me since I just need the "simplest package".

I'm in Canada but we can discuss others as well.

I was looking at TD memehouse and it says $9.99 flat commission rate. Is that per trade? So if I were to be buying $200 worth of ETFs every week or two would I be paying 5% of my money JUST on fees? Seems a little strange...

Interactive Brokers not listed? Into the garbage.
>>
>>979587
Damn that's really cheap compared to other brokers.

What exactly makes the price vary between them? And is TD memehouse $10 per trade even if im buying ETFs?

I'll probably use interactive memers then

Is teaching a good job to get into nowadays?
Could I earn decent money?

Being a teacher today is a shit fucking idea because of stagnate pay, uncontrollable millennial children and the fact that more and more of a burden is being placed on teachers, meaning that if Tyrone is being a stupid little shit and wont shut the fuck up, YOU get blamed.

Don't do it.
>>
>>979514
I have 100% confidence in the following statement:

Do NOT teach in American public schools this decade or the next. The system is broken and disgusting and getting worse still.
>>
>>979514
The only reason you should get into teaching is because you value time off AND you really, honestly WANT to help kids. Otherwise, you'll be absolutely miserable most of the year and make shit pay. Summers off are glorious. Everything else is horrible.

Hi /biz/
I'm a college student but my grandfather owns a trucking business that rakes in half a million gross and he gets paid around 200k.

Should I study trucking or something like web development? I have experience in neither.
18 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>979510
web development is a huge fucking waste of time.

you will literally be competing in an oversaturated field with a low barrier to entry with one or more of the following: 3rd world cheap labor that will undercut your price by atleast 60-80%, college graduates with infinitely more social skills and business acumen (and or simply women who studied marketing and advertising and will get the business owner hot) than you who will also undercut your price, actual professional web development firms that have established reputations who will charge 2x more than the average for a shittier job than the 3rd world country developers will do.

change your major to either mathematics or physics if you don't want to be a loser.
>>
The trucking industry is on the cusp of disruptive change due to automation, getting in to it now would be quite risky
