Why doesn't Japan just print tons of money?
I keep seeing mentioned that Japan tries to get inflation into its economy and failing. I also see how an issue is represented by the fact that they have a huge debt.
So why don't they just print money? If it causes inflation, they wanted that anyway, if it doesn't then they can just pay off some of their debt.
Seems like win-win to me.
because printing money is actually more expensive than the value of the money printed
>>976249
That's only true for really low value coins.
And then there's electronic printing that doesn't involve any printing other than creating new bank reserves.
So what you said does not answer the question.
>>976249
why don't they turn grass into money?
Hello /biz/ nerds. Need to write a term paper tracing current economics back to a prior economist/philosopher. Was thinking of doing size of government and Adam Smith's laissez faire policies. This sounds like the most boring thing I could possibly write about, though, and I want to shoot my dick off. Any thoughts?
JK Galbraith doesn't get enough love

You should write about David Ricardo and comparative advantage. Maybe throw in some shit about the TPP.
Shit is simple and practically writes itself.
Monetary policy and Friedman
Fiscal stimulus and Keynes
Rational expectations and Lucas
Comparative advantage and Ricardo

So I recently inherited $10,000 upon my grandfather's death, and I have no idea what to do with it. I really want to turn it into a lot and live a luxurious life, and at the young age of 21 I don't believe that's such a far off dream with 10k starting. What do you guys suggest? What kind of account or fund do I put it in for the safest, but still good return? Should I look into investing and learn a lot about it? Any advice helps.

Once you have these, you can start investing. In my case the above cost 60k, so don't invest until your primary necessities are reached.

but actually, i've been thinking about this a lot: if enough hype is generated around a small cap company (think smaller than 100million but larger than a penny stock founded in the basement of your neighbors house), the price can definitely be manipulated, especially if the PPS is small and huge volume can be generated.
but something even more concerning for me is how little hype is required IN THIS DAY AND AGE to move these mid-cap stocks, especially biotechs. Martin Shkreli bought KBIO last week and their share price went easily from 1-2 bucks to 40 bucks a share - easy 2000% growth because some 23 year old decided to step in and buy a failing pharma company.
Look at CYCC, cyclacel pharma. One dingus reporter at bazinga news outlet decides to publish an article saying there are RUMORS that martin is buying out the company, and the next thing you know, CYCC jumps 49% on a half holiday market day on huge volume.
is manipulaitng the market this easy? can i just become a reporter, put a thousand g's in a biotch, and then take advantage of the situation by saying "i may have heard someone say this influential dude is gonna buy this company" and then ride the rollercoaster? it's free speech, and the SEC shouldn't have a problem with it, right?
It's the same thing as if I went on biz and told all you dingos that berkshire halfway home was gonna buy some bullshit iron company, right? I'm just trying to wrap my head around the malleability of the market, and maybe some of you understand it better than i do.
>>976076
As far as I know, if you write articles about stock companies, you have to disclose whether you own stocks in them or not. Can't back up that claim with anything, though.
>>976076
what about the blogosphere and twitter and such?
4chan has shown us that starting rumors that will be reported on by the press as fact until someone catches it is way easier than it ought to be.
>>976100
i know when you give stock advice you have to say whether ot not you are invested and the liscenses you have to advise clients on investing. however, in this case, it's a journal reporter not giving "advice" per se on a specific investment but rather spreading a possibly true rumor about an acquisition...blurry line
>>976111
i bought PRAN at one point under a 4chan ignorance phase where i thought the little guys were right, made .5% and broke even but i imagine posts on this board have screwed people over real bad......can't imagine real blogs that have follows and stuff
I work on the road doing construction. Make 65k per year, 90% of my expenses are covered. I invest on my lunch breaks over my phone. I have 250k in stocks right now and 32k in savings. Started with 1k. Am I focusing too much on investing? I'm 26. Also this type of job seemed to hold the highest profit margin for me due to low cost of living. I can save thousands per year for whatever I choose to do with it, in just a few more years I'll be sitting very happily.
Did I make the right choice in not going to college and getting right into blue collar? At my age I would be just now getting into entry level 40k jobs if I had gone to college but instead I have quite a comfy amount of money and I'm doubtful 80-120k per year could catch up to my headstart.
The best thing you can do is get into your own construction gig. Start learning about the project management and estimation side, if you can learn that and have decent business acumen, you can start your own general contracting firm or even a specialized sub contractor (just need to get a couple workers and rent equipment till you can own it).
If I had 250K it would be an easy decision to start my own construction company. Even with just 50K you would be able to launch a rather precipitous company.
Worst case, it fails and you can go back to working road construction via labor or operator.
>>976011
Well that is a lot of things to get tied into. With stocks it's just a hobby. I am considering buying about 50k in semi-automatic rifles to sell when the next gun scare happens, completely simple profit and they wouldn't cost a dime for me to hold onto in a storage locker until that point. I am looking toward getting promoted in the next 4 years at my job which would mean less travel and about 140k yearly and less actual working in general. Once I get there I'll probably have at least 500k in the market and who knows how about physical assets. I suggest others get into construction, the right company and you can retire at 35.
>>976002
You don't go to college to make more money, you go to college so you don't have to work blue collar.
Otherwise we'd all be HVAC techs, truck drivers, electricians, etc. I get it though, we NEED people that will work these jobs and if it satisfies you then that's great. I did it fresh out of high school, made $35K starting out with almost no job experience while my friends were going to college. I felt rich as I had essentially no expenses other than a small apartment every month. I quickly realized I was missing out on the social aspect and everything that comes along with going to school. I realized I'm not cut out for using my body from dusk to dawn to do a job that was physically demanding and totally meaningless to me, I was miserable working around construction workers who had no aspirations other than to get hammered after a 12hr day. I work a part time job now while I focus on school and I'm much happier, I think that job was essential to helping me realize what I wanted out of life as those daunting 4 years of school seemed like nothing after busting my ass. It all depends on what you want out of this thing.
How do you get motivated? What do you do every morning that gets you ready to shove your dick into anything, and just impregnate the shit out of it, to make a baby that will bring you income?
I have an idea for a business, and I'm about to share it with you, and I need your help on how to actually start. So my idea is basically selling pizza, but like, instead of pizza slices, I want to sell pizza cones. So you know how they have those little cone paper cups for water? I was thinking of making pizzas, shaping each slice into a cone, and then putting it into that cup, and selling it. Basically I'm redefining how pizza is sold, instead of slices on a plate, its sold in a cone cup, aka Pizza Cone. Or just cook the pizza itself, in cone shapes. That could work too.
This has been done in Asia, and I'm sure some speciality restaurants carry it, but it hasn't gone to mass market for mass consumer consumption, and I'm not sure why, I think it's one of those "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" kind of things, but I'm not fixing it, I'm innovating upon it. It's just like how Panzerottis came into existence basically, a spin on the way pizza is served/presented.
I think my first step would probably be market research, and LOTS of it, so I was thinking to start researching on a few university campuses near me, and see what students think of it. Then rent a food truck and start selling out of that for a few weeks to gauge interest, then after that I should be able to open a store front in a strategic location, close to the university students, so they can hop by on their lunch breaks or something.
What do you guys think of it though? It's nothing new or inventive, but its just new to my city I guess, and my country, since North America doesn't really have this yet.
You should just jump in. You want to do some preliminary market research? Take 20 of them down to your college campus and see how many you can sell for 5 bucks apiece.
>>975997
I was gonna charge $2 for one....
You think people will lay $5? If its like a big cone, like 5 inches high, and a diameter of 3 inches?
>>975993
fuck that looks delicious
how do you make them, and wtf is the thing in the bottom right?
id buy some OP, gl.
Anons need help and some guidance, or at least some advice on this subject, I am planning on opening a porn webcam site, I wonder if any of you guys have experience on this subject.

What will make you better than the others?
How badly do you want to succeed?
A major problem mentioned throughout this series is the fractional reserve principle that the current private banking system operates in, that has monopolized the control of credit in the economy.
This is retards fascinated by learning what is taught in every high school.
No, fractional reserve banking isn't a scam, and it isn't being exposed.
>>975657

Literally what? The stockholders of each branch bank are the MEMBER banks. I seriously don't know what you conspiracytards are on about this time.
What will this say in a year when the FFR is about 4%, since the 0% interest rate is apparently proof of conspiracy?

I don't believe in second chances. If you screw up once, you're going to screw up again. So the best course of action would be to fire the guy then and there regardless of their circumstances. I'm not paying him to make mistakes after all.
Who agree?
>>975211
I disagree with you and I think you're retarded. It should always be on a case by case basis; there's no point in assigning a fixed number to something like that.
because you know what will happen if you do that? people are gonna stop admitting mistakes and start burying flaws and lying to you.
My people love me so much that they're willing to work for free for me. Obviously I can't not pay them but they're definitely willing to go the extra mile even if they're not compensated for it monetarily.
And that is worth every screwup. Because no screwup is fatal. and if it is a fatal screwup you need to close shop anyways so so the question is irrelevant.
Of course, that doesn't mean you need to support incompetence, but those two things are two completely separate things.
>>975214
I like your point of view anon. Who doesn't make a mistake once in a while
>>975217
The most sensible course of action in most cases is to remain sensible ;)
Is America the only culture in the world with that kind of work-till-you-die spirit? Where we all have big ambition, lust for power and success? I went to Europe this summer and they pretty much just sit around, it's totally different from the USA
>>975197
That's why they're poor and refugees are raping their assholes.
Japan
>>975197
Japan and USA.
But it comes from different places.
In japan it is the social.norm for a harmonious society.
In the usa it is how you pull yourself up. So it comes from an individual success viewpoint
After one wild night of shilling buttcoins, asking how to get into JP Morgan, and general shitposting on /biz/, you go get a glass of water.
When you turn on the faucet, a Djinn comes out, and he allows you to pick one of the following wishes:
I-) You can reduce your lifespan by any number of years, and for each one that you lose, he will give you the equivalent of $60K in any currency that you chose. You won't grow older because of that transaction, just naturally dying sooner, however, he won't reveal how long you have left.
II-) He will flip a coin. If it is heads, you will gain $2000000 in cash, if it is tails, you will die twenty years sooner. The flip is absolutely random and, because of cosmic laws, the Djinn can't cheat.
III-) He will clean your house, fix broken stuff lying around and give you €20000 in small bills.
Which one do you chose and what do you do with your potential gains?
Sheeeiit
It's be happy with just having him clean the house
>>974857
Easy. Number 1. I would take 30 years off of my life (assuming I have 30 left) and take the last few years of my life investing it so my kids never have to worry about money.
>>974857
The first one.
I don't give a fuck about dying 10 years earlier, it's boring as fuck anyway when you're like 60+.
