Hey Biz,
I've had an idea for an app for about two years and when i tell people about it they think its awesome.
I'm doing a Diploma of Software Dev and moving onto a bachelor in software engineering afterwards. My app has profiles and is a social media based app. The problem is : I dont know enough yet to create it and to be honest I dont know where to start. I'm told that as soon as users have profiles you need a massive backend and it seems a bit intimidating at this point.
How do I even start?
>>1105299
Think big, start small, scale fast.
Build a prototype. Go from there.
>>1105299
I had an idea once when I was 17. I taught myself programming trying to develop it for 6 years. On the plus side I got a bachelor's in CS, and I'm now a level 2 programmer.
I don't really know what to tell you. Even after graduating college I still had a – ton – of stuff I didn't know about programming. In retrospect, such an ambitious project was impossible for a 17 yr old noob. The only advice I can give you is: read a book about agile. Watch Roy Osherov and uncle Bob's videos...

I always found WinForms and before that VB6 really intuitive and learned a lot in that environment. But I find OSX and Android development really backwards from Visual Studio and struggle.
Here's the situation. I'm selling an item online. I just found out the guy who agreed to buy this item is the store manager at one of the places where I'm looking for a job.
Is there anyway I can use this to increase my chances of getting a job there?
The only thing I can think of is to think of a way to casually bring up I'm looking for a job. I'd give him the item for free if it helped, but I can't imagine a way to do that without it seeming inappriopriate.
Pic unrelated.
Don't call me an orange fag
>>1105334
A fag is a BUNDLE of sticks, fag.
Be a good and likeable seller. Make the customer (in this case your potential employer) like you, then after that casually mention how you were actually interested for a job at the place he manages.
Godspeed

Sprinkle your money from the top of a high building. When everyone is going crazy grabbing it in the street below, jump.
Asking a bunch of neets is the right first step!
You should invest in ethereum and learn forex! You'll be rich in no time!
>pound has devalued in relation to dollar because of euro referendum
>british people are spineless and gullible so they'll vote to stay in
>pound is guaranteed to strengthen in relation to the dollar straight after the referendum
>bet on this with leverage
Bish bash bosh, lovely jubbly. Don't say OP never did anything for you.
If they leave the EU then it will take another hit.
Public opinion is pretty much 50/50 on this right now.
What do you guys think about the future of Staples?
If they merge with Office Depot do they win? Or will that end up hurting the company?
Back when I was in high school I used to work at a local one, I can tell you we made a fuck ton of money servicing small businesses from our store. I was a tech person there and some of my biggest sales were a couple grand (multiple laser printers added up quick). At the time I assumed that the company as a whole was doing well. Now they're laying off significant numbers and their stock ain't looking too hot.
>>1105822
I forgot office Depot and staples were even around anymore kek.
>>1105822
Like most large corporations, they are scorching the earth. Once they collapse under their own stupidity, incompetence. and greed, the market will be too toxic for another office supply store to open up anywhere. I guess they win but everybody else who needs office supplies loses.

So what's the verdict on kickstarting your new Youtube channel by buying views/subs/likes etc?
Is it worth it?
Who provides the best service?
And most importantly, how likely are you to get banned for doing this?
Don't even bother dude, You'd have to make sure those subs/views/likes are consistent because Google will see that spike and know something's up. Buying views is a bigger no-no than subscribers because that's where the $$$ comes from. There are annual wipes of inactive and bot accounts so you'd need to make sure that these accounts are legit :C
>>1105765
I've heard this before and I've also heard that you'd have to have a very large amount of bot accounts to be flagged.
But I have to wonder if it's FUD or if there is some actual evidence out there.
Surely people who sell bot services will tell you it's fine. But Google also makes the threat known because they want to keep their ad partners happy.
If it were true, couldn't people just false-flag with bots to get competitor channels banned?
>>1105808
>false-flagging with bots
Once again, bots, so if a ton of reports come out of nowhere, Google will probably look at the accounts which were involved with the flagging.
Back on the topic of buying subs, there are also sub4sub sites which involve real people (most of which unsubscribe) who subscribe to channels to gain points on the site, which are in turn used to get their own channel early in the queue of channels they need to sub to. You will need to subscribe to a lot of accounts...

I'm a freelance web developer, I built many websites for a sort of customers over the years. Recently I've been thinking about starting a website for myself to run and manage content... but I'm not sure what kind of website I should start. I want something that generates traffic and money... moreover I want to stay outside of Facebook and other social media... so I am considering porn. What do you think about it? Does porn make money anymore?

I was beyond frustrated too. I had been looking for 6 months. It felt like I burned out all of the possibilities, responded to all the jobs in my field, I was turned down after every interview, and my inbox was full of rejection emails. Felt bretty bad.
I accepted an offer last week at $12k/yr more than I'm currently making.

Its great you got it bro. I am literally looking for anything easier than food processing desu. 9$/hr isn't much for what we're doing
Me and my friend have saved on his computer about 100 arcade games. We have found that we can build a tabletop Arcade Machine (aka MAMEs) for $300 a unit and 5-6 hours of our time. These arcade machines normally sell for around 1500-3500 on the internet. We can undercut all of these faggots at half their price if we wanted to, however our only problem is the legality. First off, we really dont give a flying fuck about getting caught, because we will be selling this "door-to-door" (bars, hotel rec rooms, restaurants with mini-arcades, bowling alleys, on craigslist for rent at b-day parties etc.) and operating from a burner phone to make things clear to you that we will be selling this anyway. However I was reading that Namco is releasing 17 IP's for pacman, galaga, galaxia, etc. that could actually make what we are doing legal. Right now we are just going to offer the machines with all 123 illegally obtained arcade games on it but were pondering a legal version with just 17 of the NAMCO games plus other eminent domain arcade games on the machine. Is our "legal" version legit or is it just as illegal? Please let me know what your thoughts are /biz/. I apologize if I am on the wrong board for this, I normally go on /pol/,/liy/,/g/, and /fit/
wow guys sorry for the shitty formatting.
>>1104538
honestly it would probably be easier to go to newgrounds or something and purchase the rights to some flash games directly from the person who uploaded it. They won't be classics like Pacman but kids don't play that shit, anyway.
>>1104554
not a bad idea but that defeats the "classic arcade games" pitch we are going to give to the people buying these games.
How many jobs do most recent-grads apply to before finally getting hired?
On average, I'd say 50 or so.
Don't rely on numbers, man. Rely on your ability craft great marketing materials (CV, cover letter, references, etc.) and your ability interview. This all easier said than done, of course!
You need to learn how to fine tune your CV. You need to get proactive about reaching out to professionals. Learn how to conduct an informational interview and pick the brains of your references.
Most importantly, you need to practice interviewing. You have to sell yourself, bruv! Find out what the employer is looking for and then craft yourself in that image! Record yourself and get so comfortable with your answering, articulation, and voice that you'll start convincing yourself when you review this stuff!
When you're asking something like "How many jobs do I apply for before I get an offer", you're just fucking yourself over. Why send out 50 average applications when you can send out 5 great applications?
- Buy several broad based ETFs (domestic, international and bond)
- Keep adding to them regularly
- Occasionally rebalance to keep your asset allocation in check
- Just ride it out for decades
Is this it? Is it really this easy to invest and achieve good results?
Don't forget dividend reinvestment and dollar-cost averaging. Otherwise, yeah, you got it buddy. Oh, and maybe buy the VIX
>>1103301
I was assuming both of those when I meant "keep adding to them regularly". This sounds too easy and good to be true. Is this really all there is to letting your wealth compound and grow?
>>1103301
Dollar cost averaging has been proven to be absolutely meaningless. Makes no difference. It's effectively the same thing as trying to time the market (ie you can't). However, dividend reinvestment is a yes.
>>1103305
Yep that's it. The hard part for your average retard is the "keep adding to it" part. The reason you don't see everyone around you with millions of dollars in net worth is because the common person wants to buy the...
