$50,000? Fuck... I started my business with $50, some scrap wood, and a beat up $25 saw I got off craigslist two years ago. Today it pays all the bills, and at any given point I'm sitting on $20,000 in inventory and about $7,500 in capital equipment.

Is it unethical that I visit every thrift store in my city every day in search of goods that are worth much more then they are sold for? ($5 clothing that's brand-name and worth $50+, quality books and antiques, random furniture that sells well on Etsy, etc.)
This is stuff that is supposed to be sold to people who are struggling and I'm taking it and selling it for a profit.

Currently work at a retail store and get this, I actually like to work with the costumers and help them find what they need. As long as they don't smell or aren't complete assholes. Right now I'm in college about to start my courses in Computer Science next semester, but I'm afraid I won't find a job or won't like Computer Science. So, as a backup, I'm considering getting my real estate license and doing that. I haven't done any research on real estate yet, so I have no idea what to expect. Is it a good career? What if you live in NYC?
If you want to earn around minimum wage on average unless you're the top 2% of real estate agents making millions, sure.

Nothing wrong with having a backup plan. I think making a living in real estate would be harder than in computer science, so don't give that up. There are tons of real estate agents, it's not easy to compete, but it can be done.
insurance selling license would probably be better for someone younger!
also, look into accounting if you dont like computer science!... a combination of both would likely land you a nice job!

So, /biz/, I'm 31 years old and come to the realization that I wasted these 31 years. I'm a high school dropout, make only 31k/year, $1,400 to my name, around 14k in company stocks, and a few thousand worth of firearms and ammo. At least im only around 1.5-2k in debt and have good credit.
Now I have a 21 year old gf of 2 years that wants to move in, get married, etc... Problem is, I couldn't motivate myself to get a GED if my life depended on it. Are there any other professions I could seek that don't require a high school diploma, that would bump...
