What does /biz/ think about a career in the pharma industry? Is it mostly wagecuckery or a goldmine like the financial industry?

>Is it mostly wagecuckery or a goldmine like the financial industry?
How good are you at outside investments?
Holding an offer for MSc Statistics (Pharmaceutical), which I will accept.
I plan to study CFA Level 1 and take the exam in December. Furthermore, I can attend lectures from other courses (like the much more expensive MSc Quantitative Finance or the interesting MSc Data Science), for free, at the University.
Monitoring this thread.

That depends. Bean counter or lab mo key?
Curious about what sort of people browse /biz/
I came here when it opened and took a break for the board to mature a bit.
How many of you are home business owners?
Growth? ( positive, negative, steady, etc)
Or are some of you employed looking to progress in a career?
I'd imagine some are day traders (in memecoins and stocks )
I see a few people pushing real negative memes but it's natural for failures to try and bring people down to their level.
What do you get out of /biz/ ? - what do you want to get out of /biz/ ?
OH LOOK HE POSTED IT AGAIN
>>1173946
posted what again?
soz I don't come on often enough to catch if it's been posted earlier,
unless you're talking about the pic :^)
>What do you get out of /biz/ ?
Some sort of sick fun I guess. Biz isn't bad if you're looking for basic information. It's a decent place to spend an hour every few days. Mostly because the good threads stay up that long. Can learn some interesting things time to time.
How do you get motivated when in a rut?
What do you watch or listen to, or even think about to get yourselves to keep in the game?
>>1173927
Les Brown, Neville Goddard, and the Shia LaBeouf "just do it" video.
get better bro.
it usually depends on what rut. if i think it's more than just business, like personal rut ( place is messy, yadda yadda ) - go for a walk outside, spend some me-time, maybe go get a coffee and buy a good book I've been meaning to read.
If it's a business-related rut ( can't get up to work etc) I give myself a day to review why I'm doing it, what's in store, where I can take it, possibilities ( I'm a huge dreamer haha )
and scramble up the todo list, sometimes doing a few little things instead of the big things

Are you a headhunter?
If so, what is the typical pay-through to the worker in a W-2 contracting situation? I have a friend working with a contracting company and my gut tells me that they're trying to take 40% of what the hiring company is paying for the position.
>>1173891
I'm targeting a career in finance, but can't decide between IB/PE etc or Management Consulting.
I go to a target school and have spoken to recruiters for both, but I still don't know
>>1173907
Headhunter? I'm not sure I understand under what context.
I do not work with a contracting company; about 95% of our positions are direct-hire full time.
I'm fairly sure that the employee contracted is paid an hourly wage by the company while the contracting company's income comes from their client. In our cases, the contracts are a certain percentage of the hourly pay, but it's not taken from the employee but rather the company.
So if I contracted you for 10/hr, and assuming...

What do you usually look at when deciding for a stock, /biz/?
Whether is has momentum or not.
I check when earning report is coming out. If it earning is >20% expected, and
>price >$10 per shares
>average volume >100,000
>price to sales ratio <1.0
>24-week % price increase = top #30 stocks
>12-week % price increase = top #10 stocks
>4-week % price increase = top #3 stocks
Yea, just some of that stuff.
That bitch arm is double jointed

So where do you live and how much money do you spend on
>Housing/Rent
>Bills for phone, internet, water, electricity
>Food/Groceries
>Entertainment/Clothes
>Savings
>Other (pls b specific)
Per month?
You can use percentages.
picture is unrelated.
I, like many on this board am a neet and so I say the "moving out is a Jewish lie" meme.
I also talk about all the money I'm saving by living at home but we all know I don't really work.
>>1173698
>Housing/Rent: student loans
>Bills for phone internet water electricity: included
>Food: included
>Entertainment: I subscribe to spotifty & amazon. Don't go out for anything other than food, which is $5-10 a week (if I end up going anywhere)
>Savings: $3000 or so
>Other: Grants pay my tuition in full, so I only pay for books...

Reminder that every dollar you spend when you're young costs you ~$29 of retirement money.
>>1173652
> implying you'll reach retirement
> implying you'll get 7% on your returns
> implying the present value of money will be the same as the future value.
i lol'd. Keep on pushing the broken retirement saving.
I invest ~60% of my money, but I'd rather enjoy my youth more than my old age.
>>1173652
>50 years
I will retire in my early 30s.
Could some anons tell me what they think of an idea I have. I'm from a farming town and currently in school but I realized as there are start ups and tech taking over and making everything easier for essentially every field, but most agriculture biz is still all pen and paper or hard to find info on. Basically I've been working on creating a website where users(farmers) can submit how much they're getting per pound for cattle/grain/etc from the auction houses. And then you have a bunch of listings and prices where you get the best price per pound. Not sure if...

Does this really not exist?
>>1173578
Sounds like a solid idea. Do you have good CS & Commodities knowledge?
Seems like you'll need to proficient in these fields before taking on this task.
>>1173583
CS major about to graduate, lot of good friends in finance, I've dabbled a bit myself. More friends/family back home who make a living going to these things.
>>1173581
Nah, information is hard to get unless you're physically there or live around. But once you can get the info online I think you could shake up the game a bit.

>mfw a millenial gets paid $20k to do the same amount of work but atleast +5 years experience in SQL, Python, Java, C++, C#, Ruby, FORTRAN, HTML and Javascript is mandatory to get the job in the first place
I guess I should take a course in firm handshakes to improve my chances. R-Right /biz/?
You should ask /r9k/
Don't forget that your 20k is taxed to pay for their SS, which most likely won't be around when you die and if it still is, then it will have an negative ROI for you.
>>1173386
If you earn $20k you pay little to no taxes.
Companies you would found if you had the money?
>me, a robotic company like Boston Dynamics, only specialized on fuckbots
A company that specializes in killing NEETs unfit for work and forces NEETs who CAN work into workcamps.
Most of the income would come from the government paying us for helping reduce burden on contributing members of society but also the sale of the labor.
>>1173325
your not a NEET?
cosmetic/beauty company because it's easy to make money

Hey biz,
Say an old coworker of mine who was a "supposed" freelancing investment banker scammed me out of 10 grand and has all the documents himself so could easily get away with it.

Is any business degree actually really great? Business systems, Finance, Economics, Entrepreneurship? Anything?
>>1172929
Last time i checkd no lisence is needed to invest
>>1172936
But you need a cool degree to impress employers.
>>1172929
Only reason for getting a degree is if a job requires it, if not, the sum total of human knowledge is accessible to anyone reading this.
If you're going to start your own business, don't waste your money and your precious youth on college. College on the whole is a total waste for incredibly successful people.
Why does society hate single people that make an honest living with a moderate income?
>Make $103k
>Get $38k withheld in taxes
>Another $2500 in insurance premiums
>Another $1300 in union dues
>Can't deduct interest paid on student loans because I make too much
>Don't have children, wife, or property to make massive deductions on
>Get screwed into...

Because the degenerates who constantly breed and shit out kids need someone to hate. They can't plan for the future, and weigh the consequences of their actions and then wonder why they never have any money.
