How come tobacco is a superior longterm investment vs an index?
Tobacco continuously has to deal with lawsuits, tax regulations, WHO types organisations taking a shit on them, bad press.
Yet they wipe the floor with the index, pic related.
They always had strong fundamentals, high profits, low debts and overall great management. That's what you should look for when investing in a company.

They just pass the costs onto the customer and budget accordingly, also they have battalions of lawyers on staff already so it's not like lawsuits cost them in legal fees.
It works because it's a really addictive product consumed by many and, possibly most importantly, it doesn't really impact your ability to earn money unlike other addictive drugs.

So I got a letter from me not filing a tax return for a Municipality in Ohio in 2014 (Specifically a podunk little redneck village), the only problem is I'm in California now and have been for a year.
The letter was sent to my old address where I was staying, and they want me to appear in court. Obviously I can't do that.
Legally what are the repercussions of me not paying and just never going back there?

Worst case scenario, the judge issues a bench warrant and you can be arrested if you ever return to Ohio. The warrant and a tax lien may also appear on your credit history.

hey /biz/ quick question. I work for a restraunt. We sell half off sushi on Mondays. But the sushi is rolled 11am-2:30pm then sold 5pm-10pm. The dish out has no ventilation and can get up to 100-110 degrees. Plus no ventalation all the chemicals from the dishwasher just sits in the air unless we open a door. Plus there are a bunch of pans with cooked beef, shrimp, crab. That is just left open close (but off) the floor. Can anything legal be done? Or would it pass?

Also, maybe you want to do the Finance and Economics section on Khan Academy if you need a quickstart on basic finance n shit. Make sure to go on Investopedia.com to look up terms you don't know and learn some concepts.
Also, start reading Google/Yahoo Finance to get updated on the markets (maybe watch BloombergTV Live on their website).
