What happens if you just refuse to pay your student loan debt?
I have $50k in debt, that for some reasons, I don't want to pay.
I was told by the Navient phone rep that they have no power to take money out of my paycheck or bank account. So what can they do if I just never pay?
>>1280549
Student loans are government backed, and the government can do whatever they want. If it's a private one, they'll just destroy your credit score and make you incapable of getting loans (And some jobs) for the next 7 years.

>I have $50k in debt, that for some reasons, I don't want to pay.
fucking assholes that steal money god damn.
nothing will happen. They will keep bothering you and try to get you to just pay the interest.
Honestly, its your civic duty to fuck the government as hard as legally possible. Its the only way things will get fixed. Good for you.
How would I go about getting hired in a manual labor position? id love to work on an oil rig or on a fishing boat or climb towers or any entry level job that pays 40k+
Seems like the kinda job you gotta know a guy but Ive never been too social. Any tips? Anyone here in a field like that?
I worked on an oil rig (land based) for a very small amount of time.
I got the job by walking into the company's regional HQ with a resume and got hired on the spot.
My only work history was being a cashier and being a laborer for a few months. But that was during the boom days in the heart of the Canadian oil industry.
Most off-shore guys probably have years of experience working on on-shore rigs.
Oil is a high-paying industry with a great amount of time off.
You're best bet is to work construction since it shows you aren't...

> Anyone here make any money from a website?
I've been thinking about starting one, but I'm not sure what it would be about. Maybe a bunch of shit I find interesting or useful? Not quite a blog though. Seems pretentious. It would be nice to make a passive 100/mo aswell.
Just suck dick. It's easier.
Monetizing websites is all about traffic and unique clicks. At $100 a month your website would need roughly 3,400 unique daily visitors, just FYI
>>1280099
So 100,000 a month? $1 per 1,000 people? That is tough, but possible.
Anyone have any experience with this?
I bought 200,000 Lisk. How rich am I gonna be??
Rich as fug
>>1280083
Lisk is going to 0. The problems are never gonna be solved and the dev team will bail. Even if the dev team buckles down and fights for their coin with 100% of their time and money, most likely the problems still won't be solved.
get out now, this whole situation will be ugly and it will be the spark that bursts the current crypto bubble. (talking about altcoins not btc)
>>1280083
Only ETH and TRUMP can make you rich my friend. Nevertheless, I bought 100 LISK so I don't miss out on some unforeseen mooning event.
Lads im lookin to buy a vineyard. Ive been mulling over the options and spain seems like where i will purchase. i have 300k in savings.
anyone with any experience of this kind of enterprise?

Depends what tipe of wine you want to produce... If you want to focus on red ones go Spain,France,Italy
If you want white wine consider Slovakia as a option. Not many people know about this country but they produce one of the best white wines in the world. Similar but not as good is Austria,Germany possibly Slovenia
I know this might not be the best place to ask, but the cost of doing so is near nil, so here we go.
I put a certain amount of my salary on index funds every month. Since it's a process that I'll be doing many times it's worth optimising.
Usually I place a limit order with a bid price between the current bid and ask ones and it executes shortly afterwards.
I was wondering how can I lower my bid price to buy it cheaper but still ensure that the order is executed within the (ideally) day.
I thought of writing a program, get the historical...

On the one hand, you're smart enough to know that you should be constantly adding to your savings, and you're smart enough to do it through the best low-cost long-term investment vehicle in existence today.
On the other hand, you're dumb enough to think that shaving tenths of pennies off your ETF execution price by timing the market is going to improve your portfolio performance.
Pick a side, schitzo.
>>1279765
That's actually the best answer I could get. Still, let's use the thread to answer that question, even if it's just an hypothetical case, or an exercise if you will.
If you're able to come up with a measure of average daily price volatility, you could place a limit order for, say, 1% below open price. If the order doesn't get executed within the day, let it auto-buy at next day's open (market) price.
ello mates. I was hoping you guys could help me with a tax question in the USA.
So lets say someone gets paid salary at $30,000 a year. how much of that would be taxed? like how much of that 30k is actually cash money at t he end of the year?
can you tell me what tax would be on a salary of 50k?
I deliver pizza at dominos and I make $30,000 a year after tax.
I dunno how retarded I sound but pls respond
>>1279556
the first $10,000 gets taxed at 10%
Every Dollar after $10,000 gets taxed at 15%
so you have a NET Salary of $26,000
- Tax Evader Anon
>I deliver pizza at dominos and I make $30,000 a year after tax
no you don't
I made 31k last year gross and netted 20900 after taxes, only to have the IRS charge me another $400 after filling my taxes. I was litterly taxed into poverty. Btw. Single white male like me always gets fucked
Does the feeling of unfilfillment ever go away?
yes fag. lose weight and find a gf
>>1279403
Did this and no it doesn't.
Studies have shown only constant progress help, but such things are just unsustainable.

>feeling of unfilfillment
Only if this feeling is based on shit you saw on the TV
MGT is making a comeback. Buckle up as McAfee becomes CEO and the company is rebranded John McAfee Technologies.

Who else has a comfy but constraining middle class career but no real impressive skills or enough free time to work on them?

Git gud fgt
In my spare time I built a website to show off some of the data analysis I've been doing in my spare time
I'm going to present a lean production seminar to my boss, his boss, and a couple of other people in about a month that I've been preparing in my spare time
I think the argument of no free time is complete bullshit.
Time is like money and how you spend it shows your priorities.
I work 70+ hours a week and watch no TV, I don't draw a line between work and home I am always working on improving my sales and cashflow.
How many hours a week do you spend playing video games or watching TV?
There's your priorities.
To succeed you only need to be 'better than average' and a hard worker.
perspiration beats inspiration every day.

this anon's got the right idea
currently working on a side project of my own that is slowly taking form.. it's nothing to brag about but it makes use of my creative skills and is infinitely more stimulating than my day job. at the end of the day it is a nice hobby that could turn into any number of opportunities in the future.
find a project you can attach yourself to, and the skills you desire will practically build themselves. it won't really feel strenuous, it will be fun and rewarding.

So as a person who has never had a credit card before, what would be the best card to start out with? It'll most likely end up being a secured card.
