So lets say someone gets paid salary at $30,000 a year. how much of that would be taxed? like how much of that 30k is actually cash money at t he end of the year?

This. I make ~$90k gross, my AGI is ~$72k, and I paid a total of just over $8k last year in taxes after exemptions and deductions.

Post your W-2 (you can redact SSNs and addresses). There is no way you are paying 33% in FIT on 31k income.

26.53% on 30 thousand a year. Raise the pay and the federal tax goes up, but the others stay the same. Also of course depends on what state and city you live in. Some states don't have income tax.
