Why can't they just be reliable? If Ford was reliable, there would be no reason to buy anything else.
95% of fords are still on the road
the other 5% made it home
>>14532403
It's not even that
They are a dispicable disgusting company.
>>14532403

Acura NSX configuration is up

>>14525035
>implying anyone here can afford it
>implying it's worth buying
>>14525035
I'd rather waste 180k on drugs than buy this piece of shit
Actually no, I'd rather actually buy a real Honda NSX for 1/3 of the price.
>>14525035
>200k for a pigfat ugly pos that is nothing like the original
north american """"""""""""""engineering"""""""""""""", i hope it flops desu, i cant believe the japs let americans in charge of turning something that was light and elegant into something so fat and ugly
Why the fuck is Ford putting shitty transmissions in their cars? I was interested in buying a Focus until I heard about their transmission problems.
Just buy a manual one
>>14528886
Because made in mexico
We rented a Focus with the DCT in it last year.
POS didn't even last through 200 miles of our 1 week vacation. We had to have them bring a replacement car after 3 days.
Just got approved for a loan for one of these. Why shouldn't I got with a corvette?
>>14517291
Be sure to have about $1500 put back to have someone professionally do the heads if you are going after a Z06

Jeremyclarksonpushingonthebumper.gif
>>14517291
Are you really getting a C6 Z06? i heard those were kinda rough around the edges as far as ride comfort.
Did you test drive it or have you driven one before?
A big court case is just wrapping up here in Canada.
A drunk guy driving a Jeep grand Cherokee Tbones a dodge caravan and kills 3 little kids and a old man.
apparently he hit the van while doing 80kph or 49mph. I can't help but feel that nobody should have died in this crash had they only been driving a safer vehicle. Are dodge caravans really such shitty cheap cars that they can't protect the occupants in this sort of crash?
When I was 17 I was in a volvo xc90 that got Tboned by a tractor trailer in a simaler scenario. The trucks breaks failed and...

>don't blame the drunk
What
Anyway volvos are magic, other vehicles are not
>>14528266
Yeah this poor guy is going to get like 20 years in prison for this... had they been in a better car and nobody was killed it would have only been like 2-5 years.
It's not his fault this family didn't value safety.
>>14528282
>It's not his fault this family didn't value safety.
THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS!!!!!!!!!!
JUST
SHIT
SKREEEEE

We live in the future. It's about time cars started looking futuristic.
Do you daily drive with your ESP on or off? Is the ESP in your car a nanny state, or does it almost never step in till you fucked up big time?
For me, I only turn off ESP when deliberately trying to slide around, on hairpins for example. I don't really mind the safety net of having ESP kick in when you generate massive under/oversteer in rain at 80mph while driving like a faggot on a country road. But having it kill your throttle and apply the brakes when you kick the tail out at 20mph is both annoying and makes you look like a fag to onlookers who probably think you shit yourself.
>having esp at all
I suppose my ancient ASR will suffice
Normal driving I keep it on as I find the glowing triangle in my cluster to be annoying, and there isn't any chance of the rear starting to spin anyways unless some apocalyptic-level of bad traction was suddenly to happen
I'll turn it off when I'm on bad roads, going on steeper hills or doing sharp turns when its winter however. The system will fuck you over so hard in these conditions where you'd like to keep momentum and manoverability as it will cut power for a good second or even a bit more as soon as...

Mine has 2 settings: On and Sport
Naturally I keep it in Sport mode always
Is it normal for a timing belt to snap at only 131k miles? Mine did today, it's a 2001 Volvo S40 and it snapped while I was driving it around town. The car was well kept too and in great condition, how the hell does it snap like this?
Shit happens
>>14518610
Because you're 30k over the interval.
>>14518610
>only 131k
aaaalright
So im off to uni soon and will be commuting. Unfortunately though, I don't have a fucking car.
Ive been working my senior year, and have roughly 4k with my parents willing to match.
Anyway, Im not some boyracer, so I'm not looking for a coupe or some sports shitbox
I'm not crazy tall, I'm 6'2 and I need a car that isn't huge, but has decent leg room for when I'm driving.
also looking for good quality speakers/bass response
I want a sedan and I could care less about rwd/fwd, but if possible...

Buy a cheap ek hatch
Wat car iz gud.
Buy a fucking "insert cheap import" and be done with it. Do your own fucking research
/thread
>>14522731
I've been trying, but "research" doesn't mean shit if I haven't even been around these cars, which is why I'm asking here because I'm sure most of you have had experience with different cars
Saw one of these at the mall and thought it looked neat, but then saw the sticker:
>237HP 4-cylinder
>0-60 4.1 seconds
>$55,900 starting
>$70,395 with wheels, microfiber interior, handling package
Thoughts?
Mustang GT is way faster and way cheaper.
>>14521865
mustang gt doesn't have a carbon fiber tub.
I would buy one in a heatbeat in red with those wheels in gold.
Honestly, I should, the prices of them will only be going up after they're all sold, till then they'll maybe lose a few grand at most.
They're gorgeous, use a basic engine that's not stressed, manual steering, mid engine, what's not to like?
inb4 more power, if that's what you want this isnt the car for you simply.
Why do German cars have a reputation for being expensive to own and maintain?
Is it that they're inherently unreliable? Or, are the parts just expensive?
As someone who's only ever owned Japanese cars, I'm just trying to figure out what the source of most of these expenses is. Educate me.
>>14517840
In general they're more complex.
Electronic shocks vs normal shocks
FI vs NA
Now that more normal cars have these things the increased cost has become less of an issue.
>>14517840
pointless complexity
expensive parts
silly overengineering which doubles labor costs
not as reliable as people think germans are
the textbook example is the w220 merc
>>14517840
>Is it that they're inherently unreliable? Or, are the parts just expensive?
Both
You're sat at some stop lights, Jay Leno pulls up beside you and rolls his window down
>I gotta say, your engine doesn't sound very bulletproof
How do you respond?
I remind him that since I drive a tesla that it's a "motor" not an "engine" and then my wife calls me and tells me the bull has arrived and they'll start without me if I'm late
>>14517757
I tell him he's wrong.
>>14517757
Pull out gun, shoot his radiator.
Is anyone else getting sick of the "gigantic luxury box on wheels" phase that truck design has been sticking to for the past ten years?

Yes, MARY.
