Hey /o/,
Another week and another auction. This one is going by pretty slowly. They're taking their sweet ass time setting up next auction.
Let's have a junkyard general! Post stories, parts wanted, etc and let's help each other out.
Fellow junkyard owners/mechanics welcome!
Pic related, my only buy today.

Looking to buy a truck and I need it to weigh over 6,000lbs and cost less than $20K
What do you guys suggest?
>>13879649
Civic
>>13879707
Heh.
No, I need a truck to transport engines and transmissions we sell but I'm wary to buy anything used since I've always driven new.
So I've been looking at the F250SD.

>>13879185
Passenger. Autocorrect what are you even doing
Have you ever been pulled over because your speedometer is inaccurate? eg. Reads a lower speed than you are actually going?
No, it's part of our biannual inspections and we have to get new tire sizes entered in our papers and have the speedo adjusted if necessary so it's next to impossible for it to be off all of the sudden unless it fails entirely.
>>13879090
where the fuck do you live that does car inspections?
>>13879105
The same country where you can legally go unlimited mph on the majority of the highway network.
Would you ever risk your car across such a bridge?
If not, what is the most dangerous place you drove through?
>>13879058
Perhaps during summer when it's not as slippery.
The ghettos of Woonsocket fo' sho'
Where is this? I must drive across this thing now.
In honor of frosty being a fag, post your snow covered/frosted whips
Leave him alone
You're as bad as he is

You got a bumper cover!!!!
But mine is garaged and I've only had it since March.

Is 100 mph (160 kmh) achievable for any car?
>>13878765
Pretty much.
No they all are built with speed control units by the government to make sure no one can go faster than 99mph
70 mph downhill with tailwind reporting in.
Fuck this road salt bullshit. I understand if hills are salted but why the hell are these retards flinging this shit around everywhere?
>>13878749
Because they are idiots. Road salt should be banned. Don't drive in the snow if you don't have winter tires. If you crash it's your problem.
Because people cannot drive according to the actual conditions and won't shell out money for proper tires
Be glad you get salt and not brine.
The brine is about 25x more corrosive. My 2011 Toyota looks like a 1985 underneath.
FUCK BRINE.
Should I buy a beamer as my first car?
Here is the craigslist ad i forgot to post. https://racine.craigslist.org/cto/5289360557.html
>>13878746
>calls it a "beamer"
>first car
You should probably stay away. That car isn't worth anywhere near asking price anyway.

ITT: Cars that look better as convertibles
Not that one.
Hey /o/ I really need your help right now.. I drive a F30 model 320i and today we had some heavy rains where I live and my street ended up being flooded.
Like the complete moron I am I ventured through not realizing how deep it would actually end up being.. At its worst the water reached the bottom of my headlights and covering 90% of my wheels. The engine definitely started sounding off due to the exhaust being blocked.
I drove in these conditions for not more than 5 minutes but I'm currently scared shitless. The car did not have any water in the interior...

I would've kept it running for a while that way you can make sure all the water is clear from the system.
>>13878590
Yh I completely panicked and just parked it on a high ground about 15 mins away from home. The problem is since then the rain became worse and now I can't even go check on it.
>>13878580
>>13878580
As long as it was still running when you shut the car off you should be fine, the biggest fear is when the car shuts off while traversing the high water. When that happens it's usually due to hydrolock which ruins the engine.
Worst case scenario when you go to start the car something that wasn't supposed to get wet won't let the car start until it's dried. We've had many a thread here about peoples cars not starting after...
