As much as I want to buy a used BMW or Mustang 5.0, I'm trying to be financially responsible. I've looked at used vehicles between $7,000 and $10,000 and nothing excited me. I can see all the 3-Series BMWs crapping out on me and becoming a nightmare. And all the consumer cars bore me to death. I figured trucks are meant to work. Business rely on them to work, or else nothing gets done. I've considered just buying a used truck. Thing is, I've never liked them, therefore I know nothing about them. Is buying a truck a sound decision? They seem relatively simple, in terms of there not being too much that can break. Sure I'd spend more on gas, but I'd have to crunch the numbers on that. How are insurance rates on trucks? I appreciate any info or feedback.

Can a car's engine keep running without too much issues if one cylinder is dead and has no compression?

My dad had a citroen jumper from the 90's that we ran on 3 cilinders (4th cyl spark plug wire was unplugged) for a few months.
And his alfa blew the valves on a cilinder, worked fine still.
Pumping losses of the dead cylinder cause significant drag on the engine, not to mention uncombusted fuel getting past into the ehaust and to the o2 sensor is going to throw off fuel tuning significant;y (engine thinking its running much richer than t is) which will in turn significantly lean out the other cylidners causing further problems.
If the engine is blown fucking fix it, don't redguard it.

I wouldn't do it, but if you do disconnect both the spark plug and the injector so you aren't throwing fuel in or damaging the area further.

My parents and sister have been driving their three Fiats (F: 500, M: 500L, S:500) pretty much since they came out in the states. All three have >100,000 miles on them with no significant problems that were a manufacture quality issue. My dad's 500 did have a brake issue but it was due to an incompetent "mechanic".
I've been needing a small fuel efficient car for a while now but I've been dragging my feet and using my Ram 1500 as a DD. I don't like the looks of any of the current Fiat offerings (I'm not a hatch back guy) but the Tipo looks fun and grown up but not like an old fart mobile. I'd definitely wait for it if it is coming in a year or so.

Anyone else here do this? I make a bit of money doing this as a side hobby/business of sorts and it makes me enough money to have some extra cash for my hobbies.
I specialize in B5 VW Passats since they're always on Craigslist for cheap, less than $1k usually. Because VW charges a ridiculous amount of money to get them repaired people just sell them off for cheap, so I specialized in learning how to repair these. It ain't easy of course, as they are full of electrical gremlins, biodegradable wiring that turns to dust and all sorts of plastic shit on important engine parts, but that also means I can easily find parts for it at junkyards too.

Look into electronics and get some soldering gear bruv. If there are problems with electric parts you could possibly take them apart and replace the smaller components.

Ever since I had the car the rain sensor never worked. I took it off the windshield and I found the black piece has hairline cracks in it. Can I replace just that part? Am I fucked? I don't have any intermittent wiper controls without it, just constant lo/hi

Serious question. Why does Audi still exist? What do they offer that the competitors don't? Why do people who want German luxury pick Audi cars over BMW and Mercedes cars?
They make lots of FWD cars, lots of souped up VWs, their interiors are nothing special, most of their cars look safe (I'd say boring imo but looks are subjective). Shit, even the name and logo are meh. Is their Quattro system THAT good?
The quattro system actually is better than from Mercedes and the engines they use are most likely their own. The only engines they use from VW are 1.2 to 2.0litres engines I believe.
