Hey should I get one of these? They seem to be cheaper and less modified than most subarus and look cooler. Is the aero too unreliable at this age? What's your opinions on this car.
It's better than a WRX in every way. If you can find one in good shape, go for it.
>>14074213
This. reliability is nothing to worry about since they were built by Subaru for GM.
>>14074224
It's basically a WRX with a body kit and a different interior.
Ask a guy that just bought this beautiful GTR anything
>>14073853
Where do you live?
How good are minicoopers in general ? and for racing ?
>>14073849
They're great handling little cars. And I would recommend them all the time... if they were reliable.
Mini is repeatedly one of the most unreliable brands in the USA, though nissan is working hard to take that title from them.
>>14073849
I love em. Had one but crashed it. Anyways alot of people say they are unreliable as fuck after 100k. Be careful look for things like the front struts mushrooming and if it has mods maybe the drove it really hard. I sure did. And other guys will call you gay. And girls wont pay attention to you unless they drive one and they will only say how cute they are.
>>14073918
>>14073932
That kinda sucks that they're unreliable.
I drive a nissa micra 2002 as my first small car. Im in love with the way it handles. I figured mini coopers might give that while being hardier, but apparently not.
What brands would you recommend for small nippy cars that you can rely on?
Wankel powered double wishbone Lola Karts?

Forget the rotary: get the 250cc, inline four cylinder, DOHC four valve per cylinder engine from an early nineties Honda 250RR/MC22.
They scream to almost 20,000RPM and can make close to 50HP. It would make those littlr karts into miniature F1 cars basically.
Hear the engine here:
https://youtu.be/WblgkL1fsjo
>>14072964
>almost 200hp/l NA
how the fuck
>>14072977
The answer is Honda.
Back in 1966, Honda made the RC166, a 250cc, six cylinder, DOHC, four valve per cylinder engine that also revved to almost 20,000RPM and it made 62HP.
That is 210HP per liter engine, NA, in 1966.

What does /o/ think of these cars?
I fell in love with them when I was a teen in the early 2000s, and I still love them
>>14072781
Are you a real estate agent or married to an executive?
Oh you have a dick? No you dont.
>Everyone driving an SL
>>14072781
Stereotypes aside, I think they are neat.
I like the idea of GT cars a lot. Especially ones that can go fast and steady, while being comfortable.
They aren't worth 10% of their original sale price by accident
Hey /o/, Do you ever set car related stuff as your desktop? if you do, please post it, Pic related is mine, the masterpiece known as the BMW inline 6.
>>14072677
All those artifacts.
Disgusting.
>>14072677
This is the image I use for my desktop.
I have a dual monitor setup so It's kind of hard finding auto-related wallpapers I like.
I had a wallpaper of some gallardos for a while but decided I didn't like it.
Here's this though
How much pep could a peppy car have, if a peppy car could have pep?
>>14072524
about tree fiddy
>>14072524
I don't know but my stepfather got rid of his old V6 Grand Am, got a Mitsubishi RVR and said it was "Peppier" than his V6.
The RVR has a 150 hp Inline 4 with a CVT.
Needless to say I KEK'D out loud when he said that.
>>14072571
V6 Grand Ams are lethargic. Plus, pep in a CVT equipped car makes sense. At least from a standstill.
Finally narrowed down all my wild bullshit wants into a (relatively) shortlist, so I'm just going to sit on it and research until spring
What is /o/ up to regarding car shopping? Anyone get anything new today?
>F-Body LS1 T/A
>Notchback 5.0 Foxbody
>SVO Foxbody
>SW21 MR2 Turbo
>G35 Sedan
>Saab 9-5 Aero Wagon
What /o/ think
Think if trading my BRZ for a Focus ST. Found a ceritfied pre-owned 2013 with 13.7k miles and a used 2014 with 11k miles, both for just under $22k.
I like my BRZ, but its not the most practical commute car and I don't see myself modding it anytime soon.
I'm probably gonna do what every faggot here does and get babbys first JDM car, a GC8 WRX.
Are bikes like -pic related- any good? I want a bike thats not super gas hungry and is comfortable enough for multi hour drives
You want the bike from Akira?
>>14072127
Honda NM4 is the answer.
>>14072129
Yes lmao
Why do you losers think a rotary engine is bad. Ok sitting here thinking and I can't see why it would be bad.
Just drive it nicely in residential areas and wind it out on freeways. Give it a chance to rev when downshifting. If you actually downshift like a real man.
>>14072053
/o/ is mad its better than their pushrod heavyweight
Because any engine where a rebuild is considered 'routine maintenance' is inherently terrible.
im a gigantic rotaryfaggot and rotaries are shit for typical commuting duties. unless youre a masochist. just a headache t,bh
and honestly thats the only reason /o/ has to shit on it because they're all point a to point b faggots in econocars.
What kind of car would /o/ buy for a long road trip? Something you could sleep in that is also, cheap, reliable, and a comfortable ride. My guess is something like pic related. Either that or a van. Budget would be $1,500 - $2,500 and it would only need to last a month or two.
>>14072047
1991 Mercedes 300TE Wagon

That is beautiful! Thanks anon!
>>14072047
I actually need to bump this because the caveat is I'd need to be able to buy it in Portugal and hopefully sell it in Russia. I don't even know where to look
Post your best body work shops. What type of body work related fixes have your shops done?
Just get a new bumper or take it off and have someone repaint it.
>>14071916 you see that metal piece right behind where the bumper is. That piece is bent downwards.
>>14071966
So your saying the actual x-bone frame is bent?
If that's the case then fugg mang. Your pretty much boned. I had a similar accident in the same area but thankfully it only affected the bumper and not the frame, the bumper comes off with a few bolts. And I just put on a new one.
Be honest. What the fuck did you hit that it made it bend DOWNWARD!? a lifted truck? A guard rail?
.
Because i love my shitbox thats why
You have 10 seconds to justify spending all that money on your bus pass. After all, it's just a bus
>>14071789
Because I don't have kids.
Convince me not to buy an FR-S when it's the best looking and cheapest sports car out there, and used ones can be had for in the low 20's with >20K miles
>>14071280
>best looking and cheapest
excuse me kind sir may I interest you in cars made before Y2K from a time before cars went to complete shit
>>14071280
why do people do this stupid shit to their cars
>>14071293
>he wants a car >10 years old
We're talking current cars here, senior, go back to your classic muscle thread or wherever you lurk around
>>14071297
I just found something from google images
My dad is a mechanic from the 70's/80's/90's, and he told me to never get an 80's car because for the most part that decade had some of the worst cars he had ever worked on.
>poor mpg
>poor computers
>no power
He also told me that 70's cars were extremely heavy, but could be very powerful and if collided with a modern car, would relatively have no damage to it. Namely the 1974 Pontiac Grand Safari Station-wagon, or as he calls it, "The...

80's-90's american iron is pretty much all garbage bro. The only reason you'd buy from that time period is for german cars (80's) and jap cars (90's)
>>14070979
This. 80s BMWs and Mercedes are some of the most reliable cars ever built. They of course took a shit in the 90s and now they're really bad, though that's mostly due to the heavy reliance on electronics doing what used to be done mechanically.
>>14070979
so a Camaro/Firebird and El Camino from the 80's are not good choices?
