Why are so many American cars supercharged vs turbo'd? Is it because of history/nostalgia?
>>13980500
Cheap gas and it's normally much easier just to stick a blower on top.
Turbo technology a couple decades ago wasn't very good...
So many?
Nigger what?
People put them on for drag racing and shit but I don't know about "so many" American cars that come from factory with a blower
>>13980511
This as well
Besides the C6 ZR1 and the CTS-V, who else really supercharges modern engines?
Jaguar and Land Rover...
What is the best car game, and why is it Tokyo Xtreme Racer?

This thread probably won't be as successful as "4 cylinder engines" but atleast it will be more successful than gm's engineering team.
BMW plugs have always been a pain to replace but new ones are just insane. Had an '07 335ix come into the shop today for new plugs. As per standard with new cars there was a bunch of plastic shields that I needed to remove, it was annoying but not too bad. After getting all that off and then getting a coil out I came upon this bullshit, a 14mm 12 point spark plug. God, only BMW would decide to use a non-standard size spark plug. What is even worse is that the spark plug hole is sized so that a standard 3/8 drive deep socket won't fit into it. The socket needs to be...

Jesus christ.
I wonder what BMW charges for their specialty 12 point socket...
>>13980413
What does it matter? Bav auto sells it for less than $20. Op probably wasted that much in time spent making the other socket.

>Only the Germans could design such a stupid and overly complicated piece of junk
It's actually a smart way for them to make more money.
You're the stupid one for buying a BMW.
I'm buying a red Mazda3s MT hatch, picking it up tomorrow. I've been debating paying $1800 for the appearance package, which consists of a thin black lip, side skirts, rear diffuser thing, and spoiler. Dealer-installed, but not significantly cheaper if you order the parts and install yourself. Thoughts?
I like it and feel the sides of the car are a little naked without them (plus the hatch looks a little awkward without the larger spoiler, imo). I can buy the car outright so money isn't really an issue, but I can't help but think it's a dumb way...

Without the appearance bits.

ayy lmao, if you want to throw away money, give it to me, also, if you want the darker wheels, just get some plastidip bro
I'm looking for a reliable coupe. Walking home, I found a Jag XJS V12 for ~$5600. Should I get it or not?
Pic related.
>>13980238
well that certainly isn't reliable.
i would consider one if they didnt all have a 3 speed automatic.
no overdrive does not feel luxurious at all
in fact, i would call it pleb
>>13980238
Get a leakdown test on all 12 cylinders. Figure out what kind of ignition it is, and if it's one of the fire-prone ones, fix immediately.
http://www.jag-lovers.org/xj-s/book/XJS_help.pdf
The ignition stuff can be dealt with by any competent DIYer. They can be good daily drivers, but after 25+ years you're looking at spending as much on internal cosmetics (wood, leather) as you will be on mechanical stuff. If the cosmetics are good, consider it.
But expect to spend another $2-3000 to...

Question /o/, with with modern cars getting being more and more complex with the computers controlling the Ac, push star button and drive by wire.
These modern cars being more reliable than the classic cars aka cars with OB1 and before?
>>13980178
hard to know for sure, they haven't been around long enough
>>13980178
I cannot understand your question.
>>13980195
cars are more complicated now. will they last as long as the old cars of today?
New car /o/. How'd I do?

now kill yourself you fucking faggot
In theory they should work great, they do in many other things, but cars are not one of them.
I come to you guys asking for help identifying these wheels. Ive looked for ages and cannot for the life of me find them anywhere. The owner claims They have no manufacturer marking on them. They are 4 spoke, 5 lug 5x114.3, single piece wheels. Anyone know?

Was thinking of getting a gookmobile. How is the Genesis Coupe with a manual and the 3.8L V6?
Also, what do you think of Korean cars?
>>13979983
Get a V6 Mustang or Camaro instead.
>>13979983
>How is the Genesis Coupe with a manual and the 3.8L V6?
Basically a bad Mustang/370z
>Also, what do you think of Korean cars?
Perpetually 10< years behind Japan. They're not absolute crap anymore but don't offer anything over similarly priced alternatives.

stop

Also I forgot to mention the manual in the first generation is awful.
How do you feel about Aston Martin's new styling direction?
www.youtube.com/watch?v=ahMzhw9pqFg
They are trying to get away from the Ian Callum/Henrik Fisker design of the DB9 that they have been recycling for the last 10 years.
That's... an interesting look. Not sure what I think of it yet.
Mitebcoolr with pop up headlights?
About fucking time; they've been doing the same thing for 10+ years. Hopefully all of their cars will look similar to the vulcan
I'm not a car person but my babyboomer dad was just ranting about how modern vehicles have too much computer shit which inevitably breaks and makes maintenance a pain in the ass. The most recent car I've driven was from 2003 so I don't really have the experience to judge. But is my dad right, are modern cars a pain in the ass to work with?
tell him OBD 2 exist and to shut up
They're usually worse but not impossible to work on. Everything's just packaged real tight these days to not waste space which makes it less comfortable and more complex to get to stuff.
>>13979964
>how modern vehicles have too much computer shit which inevitably breaks
It doesn't.
Why do people use these and why is it associated with JDM?

Right?
