I'd say get it if $400 isn't a big investment to you, and you're also aware that it may have large issues with the gearbox, and the engine may have been damaged from the overheating... also be ready for the fact that it might end up being an oversized paperweight quicker than you'd like it to

Thats nearly more of best-case scenario in my humble opinion.
First of; gearbox issue is unidentified. No mention of how it performs otherwise, if it has happened before or what he had to do to get it out.
Second; very few pictures, but from what I can see it either has a bent door, or the doorframe itself has suffered structural damage. Headlights are glazed as fuck and in dire need of a polish, and from the shitty photo the tires look bald. Combined they make me think that this has been a beater,...

I really want an enthusiast driving car. Problem is, I haven't driven manual but like twice.
If I got a Fiesta ST and had my brother get it home for me, would I be able to get up to manual driving prowess pretty quickly?
The only other things I've considered (and tested) are a 228i (probably too expensive) and both the FRS/BRZ, which obviously all come in automatic.
Should I risk learning manual for one of the highest rated enthusiast cars or just go automatic?

check rear main seal oil leaks, check the rear driveshaft for fucked ujoints, check the axle shafts for fucked ujoints, check if it overheats. they are pretty bulletproof for the most part though as long as you keep fluids in it

Absolutely unkillable if you keep coolant in them.
Even then, they need to get pretty hot to eat themselves.
Keep in mind they run hotter than most, this is normal. If it goes above 210 I would start to wonder about the cooling system though.

What allowed the crankcase-breather to freeze up in the first place?
it can get water vapor in it if you make short trips and or don't let the engine warm up enough. I've seen whiteblock volvos push the rear main seal out or roll the lip backwards from the same thing
