Is your automobile the most expensive thing you own? (Or financed and paying for?)
Bank owns my home, but own all vehicles... yet I have individual firearms and a guitar that exceed $12,000. More than my car and truck combined.
How bout you guys? Got any boats? Or desert/forest toys?
>>14618877
My bank account. Parents own the car I drive but it's only worth ~3k.
>>14618877
no not even by a close bit AND THATS THE SAD PART
PEOPLE DO NOT REALIZE THIS AND TRY TO COMPETE
I have a gun that cost more than ONE of my vehicles...
2005 Dodge Ram 1500
4.7L magnum
Rear wheel drive
Suddenly lost vroom. As if running out of gasoline. Died won't start.
>what's the most likely issue?
It's American.
>>14618683
Probably the transmission, my 2500 with the 5.9L Mag did the same thing. It was the solenoids, and it left me stranded in a left turn lane.
>>14618703
If it were the transmission, it should still start when in park or neutral right?
I'm going to preface this by saying that I don't know shit about cars mechanically. I like driving them, and I'm making enough money now that I can get my first fun car. I've been looking really hard at the Subaru WRX's (STi is a bit out of my price range). I found a pretty sweet 2015 with 15,000 on it for a decent price that I'm going to go look at this weekend. My question is how far can you tune a base model WRX? I know you can do stage 2 on them with no problem, but if you start getting into putting bigger turbos on them are you just asking...

Should have bought a crosstrek

Manual
Generally, do push rod V8's last longer than DOHC V6's?
Not necessarily.
It more depends on how well the engine is designed as a whole.
If it stays cool and everything is getting as much lubrication as it needs, it'll last longer.
If each part is made of good, sturdy material that doesn't wear easily (or at least, not any more than it needs to) then the engine will last longer.
OP, it sounds like this thread is more of a pointless argument starter than anything, because it depends on too many other variables.
>>14618434
Yes they do. DOHC engines have either timing belts or stupidly long timing chains. Both can fail and fuck the engine.
>>14618640
Maintenance items.
What do you guys think about Ram air kits compared to a typical cold air intake?
Which one do you prefer ?
What brand should i go with?
Discuss.
Pray to God you don't hit a small puddle in that lol
>>14618402
Risk of hydrolocking makes it unattractive for a DD.

Foxes already draw from the fenderwell.
/o/ I come to you with a non-standard car purchasing question.
I want an old off-road vehicle. 1950s or 60s. An old Land Rover seems like it might be fun, a Willys is always an interesting option, but I'd like to see if /o/ has any recommendations. I just want an old but rugged vehicle that I can play around with and take out into the countryside from time to time. Does /o/ have any experience with these? Unless it involves pulling an engine/tranny out I can do all of my own maintenance on my daily driver so I figured something like this would be pretty straightforward...

if you can only do maintenance i wouldnt get a land rover
also if you live in the US it would probably be easier to find willys parts
>>14618131
old cars are old. They're from a time when you couldn't machine shit to close tolerances, oil was just "yeah whatever throw it in" and you didn't need as much mechanical sympathy because swapping out the tranny wasn't a $10k job
basically, the thing's been thrashed and abused for decades, all the rubber has rotted away and wiring has come loose.
if you expect it to be reliable then you're an idiot.
>>14618143
also OP thats a stupid idea to offroad a car that old unless you want to break down every single trip
quit being a bitch and get a newer car. older isnt always better
So basically I have to get a reliable car for my compulsory year of social service and getting about in general. I'll be driving about 200km a day, 5 days a week in all kinds of conditions (it rarely snows where I live, but it may happen) for work alone, and on the weekends shorter distances to friend's places etc.
I'm not looking for fun, speed or sporty handling. I need a relatively cheap car that doesn't look like complete shit, is cheap to ensure and gets decent gas mileage. Reliability is also a big thing for me.
My budget is about 2500...

VW Golf 4, I think you can get.
>>14617705
I could, but with my budget I can only get the 1.4l Petrol, which is supposed to be really unreliable.
>>14617674
I was gonna say check out Vauxhalls but they're Opels on the Continent. They maybe mundane but they'll get you from A to B with no fuss.
Astra Gs and Hs are good enough to compete with the 323
Need a car for around 5k.
Looking fo a nice car(good interior and decent driving) which holds its value well since I'll be reselling it after a year.
I found a few cars on craigslist but too hard to weed out.
Any suggestions?
What about this 2007 Hyundai Elantra with 110k miles

Sharing my experience from buying a car recently, look for a convertible now and sell it next summer for a tidy profit.
Hey guys, i am considering to buy a used audi. what do you think? is the price ok?
so..
its an audi a4 b5 1.9 tdi quattro limousine.
1997/ 170000 km/ 3300€.
pic related.
thx guys.
>>14617516
Without knowing the market and going purely by mileage and my opinion, no. €1000 tops.
>>14617527
he would give me summer tires and winter tires.
the problem is, nobody gives away a good car like this for 1000€.... its hard to find a good used car.
>buying and used audi
good luck because you're going to need it
a lot of it
What's the car you're the most proud to have driven? I'll start
>Porsche 918 Spyder
>million dollar hypercar that gets BTFO by a 100k Viper around a track
real impressive
1964 Mercury Comet
Chrysler Town and Country
Because it was the newest car I've ever driven and it was in America
Lel
Never forget.
>918 gets BTFO by Viper ACR
>911 GT3 RS gets BTFO by Z06
>Cayman gets BTFO by WRX
PORSCHE ON SUICIDE WATCH
But muh refinement and build quality.
Nobody cares Porsche. You've enjoyed mass profits from those two words while not supplying people with the best performance cars.
Porsche is the worst fanboy brand out there.
>>14617352
>918 gets done by an ACR
Gonna need some evidence there m9
The other two are probably right though kek
Am I the only fagg/o/t around here that drives a fucking Seat?
>>14617189
I had honestly never heard of them until going to /o/, but I guess that's what I get for being an amerifat/SEAmonkey
>Am I the only fagg/o/t around here that drives a fucking rebadged VW?
no
>>14617189
What a stupid fucking name for a car company. You eurofags can't do anything right, not even car names.
Yuropoor here
what's a good fast car for under 5k euro?
pic related found one for 3.5k but it's automatic
after taxes and registration that will be way over 3.5k
mfw i almost bought a v8 camaro but i realised why are all american cars with big engines so cheap (and unregistered)
its shit
>buying an sn95 in europe
>automatic
get a citroen or something, make everyone on /o/ jealous.
>>14617116
citroen is what a car with depression would look like
I've been looking a few cars recently but I'm open to suggestions (daily driver)
>2011-2014 Mustang GT
I like the looks, seems like you can get a lot of power for the price.
>Subaru wrx
kind of a meme car, but I enjoyed driving it not my favorite in terms of looks though
>Dodge Challenger R/T
I really like how the challenger looks, although I've heard mix feelings about dodge's reliability
>Cadillac CTS
Pretty...

Why has this brand been so successful with American millennials?
covers all the bases pretty well
>edgelord boy racer vape gods - wrx/sti
>lesbian tumblrinas - forester
>normal people - legacy
Because they make affordable, reasonably dependable cars that look like race cars and don't sound like Hondas.
>>14616768
For me it was the gran turismo nostalgia.
But i agree your typical subiebros are plain retards.
