My father would like to buy me a car. He appears to be thinking BMW, $7000-10000, and 2003 or newer. I am considering a Manual 7 series. What should I do?

>manual 7-series
you're out of luck if you live in the states.
>>14614290
Darn it.
>>14614290
E38s are nice though. With big, comfy cars it's ok to have automatics. Or you could go with a manual E39.
What are all the vehicles that came with the VW 1.9L TDI engine?
Would any of these cars make for a good budget rally car platform?
I want the TDI for my jeep wrangler.
What should I do with my left over amc 4.0L I6 engine?
What would be a good engine to go into the VW?
Is this a shitty plan?
>>14613976
>Is this a shitty plan?
>VW
Yes.
>>14614035
elaborate
a mk4 jetta would work great and the 1.9 TDI is fucking bullet proof
Are performance luxuries (M3, M5,CTS-V etc) worth the money?
I have $35K saved up. I could buy an STI outright, or put that as a down payment on a $90K CTS-V.
I make $70K/year and I don't know if spending $90K on car would be a good idea...but It's such a beautiful car, and I'm really contemplating getting it over the STI.
Talk me out of it /o/
please spend your money one whatever the hell your talking about
leave all the good business opportunities for me >:)
Finance it, don't put it all downright
>>14613062
Yes they are worth it but at least double that 35k before even thinking of financing one.
Hey /o/. Need help. I got 4k, its all i got an likely all I will have for a car for a long time. I need a daily driver to work. Reliability is KEY. What do?
Looking at a 06 chevy cobalt for 4000 dollars (would low ball if possible) with 125k miles and a 2008 honda fit with 193k miles. Suggestions? Might call the fit owner and see if it was highway miles.
The Fit is the best one to choose. Most Hondas out there are built to last a long time.

Hurry, /o/, tell me why I shouldn't get this Veloster Turbo Rally Edition.
I was all in on a Fiesta ST or late model GTI but this beats both.
>>14612588
Yeah, it beats both at having really shitty ride quality
>korean econobox with sporty looking exterior that pretends to be fun but really isn't
>beating a Fiesta ST
b8/10
>>14612588
Beats it at what exactly?
In Dubai a few days ago some people died in a high speed accident.
Don't let this be you.
>>14612367
>a bunch of rich arabs
>one of my cousins/aunts/distant relatives working as a nurse
and nothing of value was lost
>>14612387
No everyone involved was American and they rented a car and frank and drive and now that happened. It is sad. Don't let it be you.
>>14612367
Speed doesn't kill. It's suddenly becoming stationary that gets you.
heads up; this thing will sell alright but depreciate like crazy because of the badge, when really the engine has been shown to be reliable in other platforms and everything else is mazda
this will be a fucking incredible used car performance bargain
It's way too cool and exotic looking for the value to plummet, sorry.
>>14612356
fiat badge
you underestimate how much a badge can fuck with value
I'm just sad because as a no job fag I will probably be able to afford one in about 10 years. On the upside, I'll pay 30% of the original price. I just hope that the Mazda parts don't rust to all hell before I can afford it, cause this car, other than an NC Miata, looks like will be one of the few cars that will be worthy replacing my E36.
You now have an excuse to take your GF [assuming you have one] to the USGP @COTA

>>14611980
Sold out.
>you are too late
Ok guise, the time has come.
I'm pulling the trigger on one of these cars but, hell I'm seriously undecided on what I should buy.
>GT86: 26.000€ discounted price, new
>MX-5 (1.5 exceed): 24.000€ discounted price, new
>MX-5 (2.0 sport/top trim): 28.900€ discounted price, new
I don't give a shit about lap times, muh torque and especially I won't install any turbo/supercharger kit as it's illegal where I live.
Just tell me what...

Shut up and buy a cheap civic.

Where the fuck do you live?
Why do you hate their work?
They worked really hard. Honda is trying their best.
>>14611699
It's not a bad car, /o/ just hates everything that's not a 1994 Civic. It's a bit dated because it was meant to be released a few years ago though.
>>14611699
> made by americans
wow no wonder
Because /o/ hates everything. You should stop worrying and form your own opinions
Are rotary engines and pop up headlights in consumer cars unviable in today's auto market?
>>14611551
100% yes
popups are pointless wastes of money
rotaries are too unless its in some niche track car
>>14611551
Unfortunately yes, though I appreciate the throwback with the faux pop-up DRLs
Hey o. My car battery died just now. It died last week, it was a 2-3 year old Walmart battery, I replaced it with a Walmart battery (I know I know) it was supposed to be only temporary but longer than one week...
Is this just more bad luck? I tried jumping the car when it died but it wouldn't crank even with the jump, the farthest it gets is just lights on the dash come on for a second and then go off. Thoughts?
>>14611339
Did you even get the charging system tested? Or did you just assume, like an idiot, that it was the battery?
>>14611439
The alternator? Afaik you should be able to jump a car even if the alternator is bad?
>>14611443
Just hook up the cables to the dead battery and wait like 30 seconds. That should charge the battery enough to start.
So I've been looking around at WRX's. Found this one that has very low miles, 22k, but it has a rebuilt title. Is this something you should immediately avoid? Or is it still worth looking into?

Pic is vehicle in question.
>>14611266
Newer cars take a LOT more to total. So that means a lot more damage was done.
>>14611266
Not to be an ass, but it really is one of those "If you have to ask, it's probably not for you" situations.
On a car that new, it would have taken a ton of damage to result in a write off, and unless the dealership has the paperwork, you don't know who/what shop did the rebuild.
To add to that, unless you are fairly familiar with the mechanical and structural nature of that car, you aren't really going to have a strong idea of what to look for in terms of the repairs.

Gc8 coupes look like shit, you should have got a 4 door.
>>14611059
Subaru's run like shit. You should have gotten anything else (except a Ferd)
Nice subie bro! What do ya have done to it?
How do you feel about sequential manual shifters in cars?
They're pretty standard on bikes, ATVs, and a few side-by-sides, but you don't see them in production cars much.
I think it seems like an interesting concept.
