PROS
1- super resistant (they use to build houses)
2- extremely light weight
3- if you hit someone straw is soft
4-good insulation
5-cheap and made in USA
6-surprisingly resistant to fire (and it can be properly treated anyway)
7- it's easy to change pieces
8- you won't even notice scratches or small bumps

CONS
1-probably a normal car is a bit more secure, but surely a straw one isn't less safe than a motorbike
2- impermeabilization of the first layer of straw must be renewed after some years

>OP butthurt he got raped by a new Camaro

I own a very small business and I have 2 employees in it. The second guy is kinda like a helping guy and I pay him only when he helps us in certain circumstances.

Okay, I need a new small hatchback that is good for the daily needs, reliable, sightly fun, and a good resale value.

>I want my employee to travel in the top-ranged model rather than shitty looking base model.

>The amount I can spent upto is 24K max.

Right now, I am looking at a Fiesta. IS this car good or is there a better suggestion?

Thanks.

Here in germany a lot of companies use Smarts, the Fiat 500 and Minis as employees cars.
The 500 and Mini have bad reputations, though the bigger 2 cylinder in the 500 is fun to drive.
Smarts are shit to me, but to each his own.

yes, spend the $1499 to get a 350 long block from Jegs or Summit, another $450ish to pickup a 600cfm carb and dual plane intake, swap all accessories and other components right onto the new motor and enjoy an extra 0.7 liters of American freedom.

optional and advised: long tube headers and exhaust for another $350ish. save money on a full exhaust, just go from header collectors to a set of mufflers and dump em to the ground.

You wake up in a big empty warehouse. In front of you are 4 cars, an SA22, an FC an FD and an RX8 (pic related), and four wooden crates.
A person walks out of the darkness, and tells you he's the devil, and he hates rotary fanboys. He'll give these four to you for free, including maintenance and insurance (no gas though, and you can't sell them).
Here's the caveat though. In the crates are four engines - only one is a rotary engine. He'll magically swap those into the four RX's. Your job is to drive them as much as possible, and annoy the rotary fanboys. Which engine do you swap into which car?

The engines:
>N/A pushrod V8 of your choice
>Japanese twinturbo six cilinder of your choice
>Mazda 2.3 DISI Turbo
>Single turbo three rotor

Fine print:

The devil is a nice guy. He'll upgrade the suspension, fuel system, ECU's and chassis to match the engine as well. You cannot change the cars after he's made them, you can only drive them.

>N/A pushrod V8 of your choice
427ci (7 liter) engines and below get a 6 speed manual or 8 speed automatic.
428ci and up engines get a 4 speed manual or 2 or 3 speed automatic.
>Japanese twinturbo six cilinder of your choice
Stock block, mild turbo and oiling upgrades to about 600whp. Transmission is a 6 speed manual or a GM TH400 automatic
>Mazda 2.3 DISI Turbo
Tuned to about 400whp. Gets a 6 speed manual out of a 2016 Ecoboost Mustang.
>Single turbo three rotor
The devil is kind on this one. It uses no oil, has apex seals that last untill Armageddon, builds up zero carbon deposits, it'll never flood, and it gets 40mpg. It has three power settings, 333, 666 and 1000hp.
>>
>>15003294
Rotary fanboy here. This is pretty easy.

>LS7 into the RX-8
>2JZ in the FC
>I4 into the SA
>20B into the FD

All manual transmissions, obviously.
>>
>>15003294
A 2jz in an FD would probably trigger everyone.

Why do artists and graphic designers laugh and act like fucking ignorant morons when you say that modified cars can be considered art and design?

FFS this really pisses me off.

Maybe they enjoy the idea of a drawing pad or tech pen over the idea of grease and sweat.
Not in agreement, just trying to understand those more limited.
>>
>>15003213
Yep, I don't understand it either.

Often people who can draw will draw the car they are trying to create on paper first.
>>
Modified cars aren't meant to transmit a message, they're merely made to be more decorative. Saying modified cars are art is like saying hand blenders are art.

Worth buying a Model S for the auto pilot feature?
I travel from city to city a lot and let's be honest, that 0-60 in 2.8 sec doesn't hurt either.

When you actually do accelerate from 0-60 in 2.8 seconds you can listen to the battery draining like a sink. Nevermind the complete unnecessity of it in public traffic.

Fair enough. But what about the virtual self drive capabilities, no one else has that yet. At least not as successful.

Does handbrake launch control make sense in an FWD car?

>>15003097
what?
>>
how bad do you want to spin or break a axle/gear instead
>>
>>15003111
But you're not really controlling anything with this "launch control" since your front drive will work independently of the rear being locked. Your front wheels are just gonna keep either dragging the rear or spin in the spot while your rear keeps locked.

Just read this:

>Merrill said that at Sewell Ford in Odessa, the Mustang is the dealership’s top-selling car, outpacing sales of Fiestas, Focuses and Fusions. The same is true in the Tall City.

>“We sell quite a bit more Mustangs than Focuses and Fusions,” Rogers Ford General Manager Beau Moore said last week. “I’d say double.”

WTF? Is it like this where you live? I know the Mustang is popular, but I just find it hard to believe that it's the best selling car in any market.

Article also says each dealership was only given one RS. I didn't know Ford was putting limits on those.

The dealership in my town, rural has literally 20 different white f150's there must be a f150 with floor mats and one without. They have literally 3 mustangs. 1 v6 and 2 5.0's. I wanted to look at an eco boost but no go.

>F-150

F--150 is the best selling pickup ever and one of the best selling vehicles ever but it's not a car
>>
>>15015051
There are so many F-150s in West Texas. Lots of pickups and SUVs. I think people get them because the roads are so shit here and for their own survival in a crash with an oil field service truck.

What's /o/ think about the Mercedes G Class?

Getting a new vehicle soon and I've been admiring the G Wagon for a while now. Love the off-road potential, lots of snow here in the winter so that would be a definite plus, love the style and personality of the G. How can you go wrong with all that power and German engineering?

Why do people always talk shit about honda ridgelines?

I know they're not real offroad trucks, and they have a car chassis, but these are perfect daily drivers if you only need to ocassionally haul things and do really light offroading.

discuss, these are pretty cheap and i'm considering one or a base 4runner for long roadtrips and light offroading.

come on op you already answered your own question
>>
Get the 4runner, it's more reliable and not a fake cucktruck. You don't really sound like you have to haul dirty shit, so the bed would probably go to waste (not like a 4 foot bed would really cut it)
>>
um. any light offroading this can do you can do in a ford edge or some shit.

They're not cheap at all. They're like 30k+ new and used they're just as much as a similarly used truck.

also those ones are ugly as fuck.

So I'm thinking of driving for uber, I have an old ass bmw that I'm going to try to sell in the cash for clunkers program. I think it's 3k for any vehicle. The requirements to drive for uber are:
Must be able to seat 4 or more peeps
2001 or higher but I think it's 2004 or higher now
No salvage titles
4 door sedan
Must pass inspection

If they give me 3k for my junk what should I get that meets these requirements?

I have 92 bmw which is crapping out on me and a 2010 bmw but I'm not going to let anyone ride that.
>>
You'll probably have to put a bit of cash on top because 3K is tough for anything decent 04+. But I'd suggest Honda Odyssey or Toyota Sienna. Vans are usually pretty cheap to buy and insure and you can haul a bunch of people + stuff in them. Comfy too, as you'll be driving a lot
