Wow, that's pretty close to the price of these things ~3 years ago. I assumed it was an automatic based on the price. I imagine the low price is due to it needing the TB/WP replaced (due at 100k miles iirc). That service runs ~$2k.

94s are one of the least desirable years (heavier than earlier years) but that's a decent deal regardless. I'm currently saving for one ($22k in thr NSX fund at the moment) but need another year of saving before I can start shopping.

Realistically, how would you cope if legislation was passed that would cease production and sales of new internal combustion vehicles in America? Many things are obviously tied to legislation that big, like massively reduced importing of oil, huge spikes in prices for the remaining oil, and tax incentives for buying the new cars.

maintenance records? auto or manual?
>>
>>15205853

Manual. She gave me a list of the stuff done to it. The one thing I'm worried about is apparently these cars have timing chain problems. She's selling it now that the 7/100K warranty is up.

Her message:

fuel injectors 2011
all ignition coils 2014
brakes in 2014
starter in June 2015
new battery January 2015
wheel part (can't remember name- it was something unusual) in Jan 2016
alignment and filters 2016
regular filter and oil changes since purchase
oxygen sensor 2010
>>
>>15205873
That pretty much sums up my experience with the MK6, too. Was in a Civic and 'upgraded' to a GTI. 100x more fun car but it needed a lot more attention than the Civic did. As long as you know this going into it, that doesn't sound like a bad deal (don't know where you are tho)

I'm am currently researching swapping a running 4age black top into my kp61 toyota starlet. they make engine mounts for this situation, so i won't have to fabricate those.

has anyone done any kind of engine swap before? any input from such a person is valued. I'm trying to get a general list of tools i will need.

a lift (maybe jack stands?)
engine hoist
stick welder
plasma cutter
torque wrench
angle grinder
pneumatic drill/driver

Why don't you post this on a Toyota Starlet forum. Kinda retarded to make a thread about something as obscure as this on a general auto forum.
>>
>>15205518
Someone is bound to disagree with me on this but I'd probably not use a black top. If you use a 16V 4AGE with a pair of 45mm Weber DCOE carbs or a set of 40mm Mikuni (from a first generation R1) with bigger jets, you can avoid a LOT of the wiring headaches typically involved with engine swaps.

If it's your first time it simplifies things incredibly.

Good power wouldn't be an issue with either approach. Tuning without a laptop is nice too.

I'm looking for a four door, luxury sedan that I can cruise around, and commute to work (for under 10k). Anything better than a Lexus GS350? There is one for $9k near me, and I want to make sure I'm making a choice decision.

I have a factory 4 barrel 302 from 1969 with a mild cam and headers and whatnot.
It runs richer than richy rich and from a stop it will bog and die unless you really ease into it.
If you try to give it any real gas from a stop it just chokes and dies.
After you actually get moving it drives flawlessly.

It's an Edelbrock 1405, previous owner put some big jets in it. I've fooled around with the accelerator pump and it hasn't changed anything. I replaced the pump nozzle with a bigger one and it made it drive a bit smoother but the bog is still there.

I'm thinking its either too low of a stall in the transmission, the carb is absolute junk (metering rod flaps were stuck), or the timing is off. Although I really don't see why the timing would be off, after the initial hesitation/bog it shifts through all gears and doesn't skip a beat.

Are there any carb gurus on /o/ that have a clue?

>>
>>15204744
not a carb guru but can you get smaller jets? you're obv running rich and that seems like a relatively easy fix. You could do a rebuild at the same time.
>>
>>15204744
>current year
>still indulging the carbohydrate jew
>>
>>15204756
I might have to replace the jets to see, It's just a pain to take off the carb for the 4th time to try and fix something. If it doesn't help I'll replace the whole thing.
Running rich might not even be related to the problem.
