One of my friends has an early 2000s TDI Jetta and he wants to put a bigger turbo on it just for the sound. I told him that's retarded and he just says I'm jealous of his car. He also plans on putting it on bags to stance it and bought cheap ebay halos and painted his tow hook red.

>TDI Jetta

oh lawdy

you should find a copy of that concerned citizen note and leave it on his car

He rear ended someone last week and thinks that VW is going to pay him 8k for his car since there's the recall or whatever with the VW dirty diesels.

Guys I need to mount a set of runflats I got off Cl on my girls car, balance, alignment, make sure TPMS works....

Fucking Discount Tire wants $16 each mounted and balanced and then another $8 bucks each for "TPMS rebuild kit". So $100+ after taxes to just put tires on. Then I have to go somewhere else for the alignment.

Does /o/ recommend another shop/franchise or should I roll the dice on a mom and pop shop? (which is more likely a Padre y Madre shop

/o/, I've had a hankering for a specific car lately, but I can't seem to find one that meets the needs.

Sounds like a late 1950s Cadillac is in your future.
>>
No hardtop sedan 20 feet long has ever been made. The longest full size hardtop sedans ever were about a foot short.

Neither has a hardtop car weighing over 5500 lbs ever been made. Even GM clamshell wagons don't reach 5500 lbs, and the stretched Cadillac Series 70/75 only ever reached it as a pillar roof sedan.
>>
>>13661263
Ok, so 19 feet and 5000lbs or so, I have a bit of leeway.

I do want my wings and torpedoes though.

Alas, I wish I could afford a GT3...

Moving on to real life. I'm looking at purchasing either a 09/10 Cayman S and comparing it to a 14 Cayman S. Now, you might ask yourself, well fuck that's two different price points so how much cash are you willing to spend. Allow me to elaborate...

Through my work, upon receiving a promotion or leaving they payout your car loan and take your car (if you wish), so in essence you do not pay the depreciation. You simply pay your car payment. The difference between the 09/10 compared to the 14, is roughly $250/month all said and done.

Would you pay that additional $250/month to drive a newer generation Cayman S, for a couple years?

Yep.

Depends on how much of your income $250/m is.

Approx take in ~120k gross CDN this year. Next year 140 without flinching (took a couple months off).

Basically. Steel's good stuff, but people shitting on it are either just attached to what they've always known (understandable), or they're the type who thinks shop class makes them an authority on the level of professional automotive engineers.

dude, its a sports car back seat. its only job is to help lower your insurance rates. thats the only point of those ever.

Still more useful than not having seats.

Alright /o/ these two options are for future cars, wondering what you guys think, which one is better or not.

how quickly did you start planning your next car?

I just got my first car a little while ago and I love it. I'm not going to get rid of it anytime soon, but I'm already taking notes for my next one.

Depends what you want for your current car. I'm ideally trying to get an economical commuter car for work and a weekend v8 car.
>>
I got a couple of plans.

I want an RX-7 for going fast and a Volvo for DD.

Volvos are fucking reliable.
>>
I was planning my second car before I got my first car.

Anyone have any experience with this car? I'm looking at a DX thats auto and carb'd. 100k on odo. Is it hard to work on?

It's not that difficult untill you have to do carb work or mess with vac lines
>>
>>13658134
Carb work is hard to do?
>>
>>13658139
The carb itself is simple (to me)
It's getting it out because there's a gorillion vac lines and sensors and wires

How much of a faggot would I look like if I drove a motorcycle in the winter to/from highschool?

I live in North eastern US in an area that generally gets snow 90in a year, but I really want a motorcycle. Not just because I'm a cyclefag, which I'm not, I just like the gas mileage, affordability of the bike, and insurance is pretty low-cost. Would this be a good idea?

Doable with the right tires but pretty sketchy, especially if you aren't experienced riding motorcycles.

Good evening, guys. I drive a 2006 ford escape XLT, and I have been noticing an excessive amount of rust on it lately. I have been finding rust on the bottoms of my doors, wheel wells, a pretty god amount on the bottom, and even on my seat brackets, etc. I was thinking about soda blasting it and then coating it with an undercoat or something, whats your thoughts on this? Will it work? I can't afford a new car AT ALL, and this needs to last me at least another 4 years or so.

Also, pic somewhat related. Thats a pic of an F-150, but it has the same issue as my escape.
>>
Just drive the thing until it's nothing but rust dust.
>>
>>13657587
That was my original plan, but I want it to look somewhat good at least while doing so. My father told me the same thing, and that once you see rust like that, there's no fixing it.

Hey /o/ I need your input on something

I have a 1984 Ford Laser in mint condition, only 104,000 KM's on the clock

>alternator maybe??

Sounds like a vacuum leak.

Make a video?
>>
Does it come from the engine-compartment? Or could it perhaps be the fans of the heater?
>>
>>13657420
this is what I keep reading on forums, but if it is a vacuum related issue why would it be whistling on idle when there no air flow?
>>13657425
from the back right of the engine bay, right in front of the driver. Thats where the alternator is located but I doubt thats what it is, I've never heard one make this sound before
