Would an 05 tc be a decent commuter? I'm currently doing work on my is300's engine. basically turning it into a 2JZ-GTE
I can get this Tc for 3k. it has 130,000 miles, and no real problems from what I can tell. But I know nothing about Scions. So is there anything I should no about this bugger? Something that needs to be changed at a specific time? Thanks.

I dislike the TC, it really just seems like they said yes to a million different directions on what the car should accomplish and it does nothing great in any area.
I sometimes see people try to pull it off like its a sportscar with how its painted and all. Completely disgusting. I'm not against commuters. If I just wanted an a-b thing, I'd get a toyota corolla or something that just reliably got there and back thats extremely popular
I also feel like with many Scions, the tc has a certain...

Toyota reliability. Shitty everything else.
I can't tell you how many little trunk panel accent-things I've seen missing on them.
>>15074119
It's a Toyota Celica. Which since 1985 has been a "sporty" fwd girls car. It fits that perfectly.
It's an alright commuter. Will get the job done. Pillars are thick and create blind spots, mpg isn't the best because it has a 2.4 liter engine.
Now every time I see one of these, I chuckle. I have a slower car, too.
>maybe because I'm not a boyracer
A lowered Toyota makes you chuckle?
If you just assume you have a slower car you may be surprised. Those things are pos.
why would you laugh if you have a even bigger POS?
Alright /o/, I've got a guy locally selling pic related for 2000 bucks. It is in decent shape from the photos provided. Is the 1973 gran torino a desirable car?
>>15073930
Is it desirable to you?
>>15073932
I think it's pretty neat, but I was wondering if any of you have got opinions on the car, rare variants or packages and stuff to watch out for.
>>15073930
I'd buy that shit right away and be happy doing skids and generally being a noisy cunt.
None of my friends own a manual.
Don't want to waste my meager resources on something and end up hating it.
Looking for something that would be cheap on insurance as well.
find a old beat to shit manual corolla or something for 2 grand
drive it for a few months and if you dont like it sell it
>>15073834
how much can you afford? 2k? 3k? post your local craigslist.
>>15073845
This. I bought a $1500 shitbox miata and drove it for about 750 miles until it broke. Then bought a real manual.
Trying to figure out what the hell this car is. Do any of y'all know?

G37 vs 335i
The G37 is a cheaper, and you get 330hp vs 300hp from the BMW. Its also Cheaper to maintain.
The BMW 335i, with a tune can be alot faster, handles better (IMO) looks a bit better, gets better fuel economy, and is bigger inside/out. However is much more expensive to maintain.
G37. The N54 in the E9X 335i was problematic to put it lightly, the 328i/330i are okay though.
>>15073539
As the owner of a E92 335i, bone stock I have never lost to a G37, and I don't even have the N54. With the tune it's even worse. The BMW costs more because it's all around a better car. Not saying you aren't getting fucked at the stealership, because you are, but it is the better car.
>>15073539
My brother had this choice, got the G37 (sedan).
Fact 1. FWD clutches are mounted in the same position/orientation as RWD clutches
Fact 2. FWD shift patters are the same as RWD shift patterns
Conclusion: FWD>RWD

Are you retarded? Or am I falling for the bait?
Its 1977 and you're a bum fresh out of high school. Your dad decided to send you to Germany for a year so you would be away from your dimwitted alcoholic friends who stoplight race their parents' Buicks and Fords and wave their penises at high school football games. Your dad tells you you can have any car you want as long as its sold in Germany, he somehow believes that since most cars in Germany are 4 cylinder that they'll be underpowered shitboxes and not V8 beasts like the jocks at school had. He'll even pay all the expenses for the car. What do you pick?
Why don't you just ask for recommendations for a 70s German car which is what you're hinting at instead of making a shitty super specific scenario?
MERCI

Just got a new car.
What are some things you guys keep in your car that's not a first aid kit.
>>15073220
In my truck I keep jumper cables, a bag of ratchet strap, 5 ton come along, tow chain, rope, bungee cords, flash light, vatozone $5 socket kit, and tools to change a tire.
>tfw i drive a reg. cab and so all this takes up most of the space behind my seat
Some vodka in case i decide to spend the night in the back. Also a jack, stands and some tools cause i have no garage.
A bunch of wrenches, a bunch of screwdrivers, a machete, and a bottle of rum
So I have this problem. I have this Cobalt. The seats suck. Any ideas what I can replace them with. I want something that is comfortable for a daily drive. Any ideas? I'm open to suggestions.
>>15073077
>So I have this problem. I have this Cobalt.
There's your whole problem.
>>15073094
>got smoked on the highway by a cobalt

>Smoked by a Cobalt
What fantasy world does that ever happen? Need for speed doesn't count.
My head gaskets on my 07 Impreza are fucked. They need to be replaced. Not looking to pay out the ass for someone else to do it, especially not the dealer. So I plan on doing it myself. I need to know what everything I will need, and everything I should do while I am doing such a job. All I know is I need the gaskets and bolts? But what else should I replace while I'm at it? I know to replace things like the spark plugs, and probably timing belt.
I would also like to know if anyone can tell me if it will be better if I just take the whole engine out, or if I should...

And a torque wrench, noob.
>>15072991
expect to be dropping/pulling the engine. it's an impreza, you have to.
you can do timing chain/belt idlers/guides if you want.. if they are near service limit. I mean you don't really need to do anything.
but yeah, head bolts and gasket is all you need. intake and exhaust gaskets if you'll be removing them.
feeler gauge and straight edge to check if the warp is still within subies specs.
