why would anyone drive a car that isn't boosted?

I just bought my first turbo car yesterday and honestly it is so much more fun to drive that I will never go back.

Because normal driving basically equates to beating the absolute shit out if it and it loves it.

Ive got 5k to spend on a reliable commuter car, strongly considering a Toyota Matrix in Manual.
Im really loving the rear collapsing seats and the hard plastic covers which means ill be able to nap in it and store some tools without worrying about fucking anything up.

Pros/Cons to the Matrix?

Also how common is the 2ZZ(?) oil burning issue?
I think thats the engine to avoid right?

AWD would be cool but id rather sacrifice some weight for better MPGs.

Early 1zz and 2zz
The only matrix with 2zz is the XRS I think
The rest were 1zz.
Not sure on years to avoid
>>
>>13835349
The 2ZZ was only available in the Matrix XRS, Pontiac Vibe GT (the Matrix's sister car), Lotus Elise/Exige, Toyota Celica GTS, and Toyota Corolla XRS

All normal Matrix's, Vibe's, Corolla's, and Celica's got the 1ZZ.

Also, ironic fact: The Matrix was American market only. The Pontiac Vibe sister car was sold in Japan instead of the Matrix as the Toyota Voltz.

Sup /o/, Just got rear ended today.

Fucking SUV soccer mom smashed into me when I was stopping at a light. Granted it was raining hard today, she claimed her foot slipped off the break pedal.
I did tap a car infront of me but luckily received no damage, and I have the persons phone number for evidence.

I believe all the damage is cosmetic only, the car drove fine riding the rest of the way back. Although who knows if there is frame damage or anything else. Hit me hard enough to break my glove compartment.
The worst part though, her Acura MDX barely gets a piece of plastic trim broken off and a coupe of scuff marks...

Friendly reminder, keep a rag to wipe down your shoes within your car when it rains outside.

Can you guys cheer me up with some pics? I know its just a shitbox but its my shitbox and it sucks to see it messed up.

So whats the point of changing your engine oil? I haven't changed mine for 14,000 miles now and my car's doing fine.

>>
A modern synthetic is probably fine at 14,000, but you should probably change it anyway. I actually think the first scheduled oil change is 15,000 now for new cars.

Anyway, oil breaks down over time through constant heat cycling. It stops lubricating as well as it used to which makes your engine wear faster.

Some people go full OCD and change it too much wasting money imo, but it all depends on the car. Better to change it early than late.

>asymmetric frame

Only asthetics, have you seen the other cars? they are balanced as fuck

>mid wheel drive

How is this bad?

>less than 1hp

HP is incremental, the more you use the car the more power it gets due to training

>torn soft top

Again, only for that model.

This vehicle is seriously perfect, it requires little to no maintenance and you can literally build it yourself without having to go through shitty dealers and insurance bullshit.

what other car do you recommend for around $6000 USD? Chicago winter compatible preferable.

It's a mustang alright.

Just sold my 2013 stage 2 wrx... Came frome a Evo X 2010 and a 2006 wrx. My commute is about 80km a day, looking for reliability first, gas usage second and a bit of performance third. I am leaning to the lexux ct200h... 45mpg is a real good argument in my book, but after the test ride the performance is missing. Wat do?

SOOO THIS IS LIKE A LAST RESORT KIND OF THING. I HATE COMING TO THIS GOD FORSAKEN BOARD.

i have a 2002 ford expedition

So I'm having this problem thats very weird. A while back i noticed that when I had my steering wheel in any tilt position other than FULLY ERECT my back left brake light would not work. HOWEVER ****The running lights AND CENTER BRAKE LIGHT are not effected****
So when i needed to turn, i had to tilt that shit up if i wanted to execute A PROPER LANE CHANGE. Eventually the right did the same so i had to keep my wheel FULLY ERECT at all times in order to be in accordance with THE LAW.

so worse CAME to worse--the pattern continued--now neither left nor right lights up when i brake AND TO MAKE SHIT EVEN BETTER now my center brake light does NOT light up when i brake. RUNNING LIGHTS STILL WORK AT NIGHT.

all the bulbs are tested and in working condition. havent checked my brake position sensor (or whatever the fuck) but i did look to see if the wires were loose or something but they aren't. I can check with a multimeter but i don't want to right now because its dark

WHAT COULD IT BE????

WIRING????

COMPUTER?????

SWITCH????

FUSE???? I ALREADY CHECKED THE FUSE
ALSO if you have any tips on finding a vacuum leak, id appreciate that. I'm running lean in both banks. could be an O2 sensor or something maybe but i'm also having problems with my plenum switching between hot and cold; the baffle/door that actuates is driven off vacuum. and i replaced the DPFE sensor on the EGR tube. The EGR passages on the throttle body had a nice little chunk of carbon buildup the size of a medium marble in there but i cleaned it out when i checked the EGR tube for blockage. I also replaced the fuckin switch/valve thing that comes off of the valve cover and goes to the back of the throttle body..
