Best automatic car for daily driving that's under 8k.

I live in Georgia so almost no snow here.

Good gas mileage and reliable.

Serious thread not trolling and not baiting for manual vs automatic.

Unless they get an SS version, I'd still rather have a Focus ST or Golf GTI.
>>
First I heard of it, shits probably lame.
>>
I hope chevy makes it a competitor to the ST or GTI. I feel like the US is verging on a hot hatch revolution, something that the euros have long enjoyed but has remained kinda stagnant here.

Just got a new laptop, need to load up. Dump your high-res shots, OC or otherwise. I'll be bumping with google images finds for now.

I found a 1980's IROC Z28 that someone dropped a modern Chevy 350 Ram Jet engine into, and new tranny. It's $4000 and I am really tempted. As a car retard who doesn't do a lot of work on his own car, would /o/ recommend staying away from engine-swapped cars? I love the IROC Camaros but they always have that piddly 305 around here....

Looking forward to hearing what you have to say.

Pic related.

Swapping a 305 to 350 is basically plug and play.

That would be a safe swap to buy, the ones to watch out for are engines from vastly different generations or manufacturers.

What socket size is used on the nut of battery terminals that look like these? It's these really thin ones that are on Ford or Mercury cars and trucks.

Why have you never driven a car in your life?
>>
Real world driving is about knowing traffic laws and following them when there's any chance for liability on your part.

Because i was poor and never had the chance to.

So I have about $14,500 in cash saved up, ($10k came from my rich grandparents :)) And being a spoiled little fucker from Marin, I want a BMW (I currently drive an 04 passat). I was looking at 330 ZHPs. They look good, handle well, make decent power, and are comfy as a bonus. They're also decently reliable and mpg and insurance should be reasonable. I can bag a clean one for about 8k.

Here's my real dilemma. Im a senior in hs, and as such Im off to college next year. Im well aware that buying a car at this stage of my life is stupid and pointless, but I still want to be driving something sporty and fun, which the passat isnt. So, should I buy a zhp? Or stick with the passat till Im out of college? And would a car in college really be so impractical? Its a question of logic vs emotion, really.

Money gets spent quick when you're in college. From going out with friends/ eating out/ booze, you're going to spend a lot. So you'e gonna want to buy the car now and not have any money for friends later.

Listen,
I would normally tell you to get a reliable car,
and feed you some shit about reliability. But that car is sexy, and if you have decent looks and etiquette women WILL be more attracted to you because of the thing you drive. Work a part time job, keep up with maintenance, slap some low percentage tint on there and itl look fucking awesome.
>>
Buying a zhp is pretty stupid, bit you're a kid in Hs so yolo

Depends on how far you want to go. Tires, lockers and lift should set you in the right direction.

>steering wheel vibrates when driving
I think this is a tire balance issue?

>steering wheel shakes (different from the vibration above) when braking
I think the brakes are misaligned

Cant do either myself
What do you think this will run me
Should I just leave it be?

>>
>I think the brakes are misaligned
Huh? I guess there could be build up on the rotors, causing the pads to meet the surface unevenly, or possibly a slightly warped rotor. Simply have the rotors resurfaced.

There's lot of causes as to why a steering wheel can vibrate. Might have to try a couple different things, but a nice alignment and pressure adjustment could definitely help, and won't hurt you in any way.
>>
>>14198844
have the tires balanced, if it still vibrates, rotors are probably warped
>>
>>14198844
it costs fuck all to get wheels balanced you tramp
