I'm trying to buy ETH and I have no idea how to.
Can someone explain the process and which websites to use to convert USD to BTC to ETH? It seems hard to get to the second step.
Also, do you need a wallet before you start trading? Is the wallet where you store your keys for each crypto?
Some help would be useful. Not much online in terms of starting from the very beginning.
>>1248536
Where are you from?
You can use a btc atm (if there's any around you) to buy bitcoin, and then have that sent to your btc wallet. Then have an account at poloniex to send the btc to, and trade that for eth.

Then you can ether deposit cash in an exchange like Kraken, and the IRS will be aware of it. You could otherwise go straight cash-btc with someone form localbitcoins.com, or use a bitcoin ATM.
Should we bring back debtors prisons?
>want to buy $1000 worth of stuff
>buy it with a pre approved cc
>never pay bills for a year
>collections agency calls
>says you owe them $2000
>know they bought it for ten cents on the dollar
>offer them $300 and settle
Right now there's no real recourse for small debts of under $50000 or so.

Best thing to do in modern times if you have no money: Aquire a shitton of debt buying things like cars or a down payment on a house, and then all you have to do is declare bankruptcy. The law will protect you from having your assets like cars, houses, and I think phones taken away because it's classified as a necessity. Sure, you're credit rating will tank, but who cares? It's a meme anyways.

Kind of varies by law. A lot of people buy Florida real estate knowing they wont lose it in event of going bankrupt. It's different here (Canada). Reminds me of a story an old accountant told me
>guy sets up registration agency
>easy work, just does paperwork for other companies
>builds company up, gets 10 workers
>deducts income tax from workers pay cheques
>never...

devilishly clever. probably a last resort for me, wouldnt tank my future for just anything.
Why doesn't everyone buy rental properties? It seems like easy money if you buy cheap and it is 100% passive if you get a property manager. What are the downsides?
>>1248414
not paying the rent.
>>1248414
Unforseen expenses like repairs.
the downside is having niggers live in your rental-box
So I grew up the poor way and had to get my GED. So now I have a big question.
I want to get into a trade, and have autism to the point that I can't do low level jobs like wal-mart and mcdonalds because that is FAR beyond my social abilities. But trades are fine because I am good at manual labor and I'm honestly smart, just not people smart.
Now my fear is, what if after I get a trade certification, what if I get injured? I can't fall back on the easy low level jobs due to my lack of social comprehension. I would have no where to go if I was...

how low will Target's stock go? i see alot of people saying stuff like 'the drop in share isn't all due to trannies, all retail stocks are down, correlation =/= causattion etc. i'd imagine this whole debacle could turn off alot of customers.

one market I see a big, glaring gap is date coaching desu
one of my favorite [reasonably attainable / online] business models is website investing
buying underoptimized websites from somewhere like

Has anyone on /biz/ ever sold drugs? I personally disapprove of it as a money making method but i would be very interested to see if anyone has done it to some success on /biz/.
Did you just do it to start off so you can get cash to invest?
Have you done it and plan to keep doing it?
what is /biz/'s opinion on the market?
>High risk
>Low reward

>Low reward
What? It's very high reward. All the guys i used to buy drugs off were completely loaded up with cash.
Not to mention, it's also a pretty relaxed lifestyle, not having to wage slave.
>>1251096
I did sell "drugs" (weed) many years ago. Just planted some cannabis plants and sold the dried buds. Easy as fuck. Think i made a couple 1000's doing something i like (gardening).
I sold the weed to some friends for 1/2 of the retail value and then they would sell it to users with profit. Dident wanna go through the hassle of selling grams
WHY DOES NOBODY UNDERSTAND BASIC ECONOMIC CONCEPTS?
I just missed most of the Penguins game tonight because I was stuck in a conversation about economics with somebody who thought it would be a good idea to join in on a conversation. I'm only a college student, and he was a 50 year old veteran (even though he was on the coast guard), so I couldn't really tell him to fuck off. He was just so willfully ignorant about anything regarding economics/finance, yet insisted that he knew more than me. I don't care that he disagreed, but I do care that he was so willfully...

This is probably bait but whatever.
1) Many of the concepts of personal finance hold on a national level, including balancing a budget and maintaining sustainable levels of debt.
2) Assuming you are in the US, the effective tax of a 6 figure professional in New York City sits at close to 50%. That excludes sales tax, capital gains tax, property tax, etc.
3) Of course we shouldn't stop spending, but passing a balanced budget to at least cut the deficit would help. It's our children that will be...

How many of you are relentless when it comes to saving? I'm talking pocket change, 1$ bills, envelope systems...of course banking it as well. How did you become this way?
How much do you save a year just but saving dollar bills and change?
ALSOOO do you pick a coin if you see it laying there on the floor?

Pretty much do everything in cash, so all my change goes into corresponding jars

You keep your change in your bank account by using a credit card, retard.
And people wonder why they're poor.
>>1250514
alright that's what I'm talking about! OP here every time I post something similar it generates 0 posts. Its good to see someone understands how to diversify their saving habits. My personal thing is to have a change jar with and envelope for the extra 5,10s,20s etc I can spare a week.
Do you have successfully sold software or software services? If so, what or how did you find your customers, what was the pain, how much did you make?
Sincerely,

pic not related
Good thread idea OP. I am in the process of starting my own software development company and I'm still working on a good marketing plan.
Regarding advice: so far I found my first clients by manually pitching my services to startups on StackOverflow, AngelList, etc. I'd tailor the pitch to each company and offer them my development services. This effectively landed me my last contract where I made 50k~ in a few months which honestly isn't bad for a first attempt.
Now I'm hoping to take things even further by the end of this year as I currently...

50k Sounds great, I think contracting can be quite profitable, once you get into a field of expertise and can start to build a track record.
I'm thinking on similar lines. End of this year I'm planning on creating a small brand for myself by grinding through a lot of generic problems and hopefully hands-on-enough solutions. Step two is to acquire customers with more specific problems, which I bet will find me through my outlets (as they are already doing now).
Anyway, good luck my friend.
What type of work/ what field of business is my personality suited for?
Pros:
>Very calm in my behavior, I never raise my voice
>Good a public speaking
>Not scared of new people, have many times actively sought out strangers for deals and such
>Good at math and stuff
Cons:
>Introvert, suck at networking

How does one do proper research on finding out how to negotiate salary for a small, relatively young company with little public info?
I somehow managed to do well on a phone interview, and now I have an in-person interview coming up soon. Hopefully it'll be the last interview. I'm fairly confident I can get this job, I know the position and could handle it with relative ease, but the salary worries me. with 90% of companies its easy enough to infer thanks to glassdoor combined with payscale.com. but this company im interviewing with has only one unrelated director salary ($120kish), and two positive reviews. and, the position im interested in seems to vary widely in pay from company to company. ill list as much info as i can about the company and myself:
- the position is in NYC as a Video Producer/Editor.
- i dont want to name the exact company but they're a sports related media group that create brand content for youtube creators, about 100 people in the whole lot, less than 5 years old. seem to be relatively profitable (read somewhere they got 20M in funding last year).
- my current position is with a large, big-name camera company as a video specialist. salary is 60K. been here for exactly 12 months.
- graduated last year from a no-name school with a film degree.
- three internships before that.
help??
>>1249809
research average wage for the area in your field.
ask for that exact sum.
after a year or two when you proven yourself to the company you go and renegotiate.
unless you have significant previous experience there is no other way.
>>1249809
also forgot. that typical salary i see for "producer" roles in nyc range anywhere from 40k to 80k.
would it be unreasonable to mention my current salary if they gave some crazy lowball number like 40k or less?
>>1249816
If they give you a satisfactory offer you can counter. Feel free to say something to the effect of what you currently earn is more, and for it to be worthwhile you would be looking for a similar or larger amount. If it is substantially lower they might not be willing to compromise so much, but in business negotations it boils down to leverage, and having a larger salary currently is leverage in your favour.
