Anyone else wish there are cheap engine swap options for the Rx-8?
It'd be nice to pick one up for $5k, drop it and $10k off at a shop, and have a sweet reliable 250whp, rear wheel drive, 4 seater coupe for $15k total...
>>15008207
>ten grand for a motor swap
maybe if they charge $500 an hour for labor
For $15k, you have a ton of options for a rwd 250 HP vdhicle, and chances are it won't leak like every weatherstrip seal on the rxhate

Is it possible to run star a car that has no battery installed?
>>15007811
No because the electrical system draws from the battery which is charged by the alternator.
Yes. Just make sure that your muffler bearing is well greased.
>>15007811
Yes.
What projects are you doing this weekend, /o/?
Pic related, I'm about halfway through wiring up a set of driving lights.
>>15007565
Changed my sister's oil and cabin air filter. The air filter was a bitch.

Also passenger control arm.
My car is an 05 mazda 6, A/C isn't working. It blows air but at cabin air temperature, no cooling at all. I've checked the refrigerant level, it's normal. Compressor clutch engages when i turn the A/C on and the A/C Fuse and relay are still good. Is there anything else i should check before i bring it in to a shop? Also there's a ticking noise coming from the serpentine belt area that very slightly quiets once the car's up to temp, could they possibly be related?
why are car a/c systems such finicky piece of shit
>>15007511
Is the return line cold and the compressor out hot?
>>15007531
Because cheap and planned obsolescence
Hey /o/, I just recently acquired a 99 Mitsubishi 3000GT SL. I've decided I find the engine power lacking. I know this is a newfaggish question, but what are some ways to increase the horsepower of a car? So far I know of turbo/supercharging and cold air intake intake swaps. What would /o/ do to make a car put out more power?
Pic sort of related, it's not my car but a car if the same make and model.
A friend of mine had a 91 stealth for a while.
For those cars, a big thing is weight reduction, so loose anything you don't need and maybe consider deleting some 'active' systems to lighten up. Active areo, suspension, exhaust if it has it.
For power, high flow intake filter, high flow injectors and a tune, exhaust. Underdrive pulleys. The motors on those are pretty stout, the thing you have to be careful with is the transmission, so be careful with that.

Are DCTs fast as or faster than manuel transmissions? I'm lazy and I dont want to be shifting.
What is a fun car with one?
Also I'm not the fag who wants to by a chebby sonic dont report me.
>manuel
>m a n u e l
why dude, god you're so stupid
Yeah, DCT's are faster than you can shift, but its boring and uninvolving.
Plus, as time passes they will only get faster and faster, and your old DCT will feel slow and jittery, whereas shifting yourself will always feel perfectly fine, because its YOU whose doing the shifting, and it shifts how fast you can do it.
What's wrong, OP? Are you too beta to join the manuel master race?

Is it cool to turn old cars into memes?

I've been looking around for a quick car with 4 doors that's not too expensive.
So far I've been able to check out a few cars and I have a few in mind
Here are the ones I have some interest in:

>>15007125
Ford gets away with it all the time and people (retarda) still buy them.
What do you want in a car?
Are you fucking stupid?
No really, are you a fucking idiot? Did you seriously post a link to Consumer Affairs?
Yeah, you have to be trolling.

How fucking dumb are you? If you believe that shit take a look at their Honda ratings.

I got the popcorn.
This should go well.
First
>gr8 b8 m8 8/8 made me reply
Second, it was built to be a good daily driver, so it has a lot more concessions than the other two. And sayinh AWD is bad is just being retarded.
The Ferrari and Mclaren look so much better, and no AWD to take away from the experience. My guess is that 918 buyers bought them as investments, I don't think anyone actually likes it.
Who here drives a /comfy/ car?
>>15007070
Me
>>15007076
do you have a /comfy/ bed back there?
how do I comfy on a budget?
I'm not the same guy that posted this yesterday.
I changed my front brake and rotors and now my pedal is too soft. I've bled that shit multiple times now to no avail.
Is there anything else in the brake change I could have f'd up to do this?

FUCK.
Tires aren't even 2 months old and this fucking shit happens. What do I do? All the repair kits say they're only supposed to be used "until you can get to a certified repair shop". So what's the hell are they going to do?
Shit, wrong picture. I have a nail in one of my tires.
I hate it when that hapens to my tires aswell
>>15007040
Tire shops can do a much better plugging that can hold for the entirety of the tires life, depending on the severity and location
Do you have a photo of the actual tire and puncture?
Hey guys I need advice. I was visiting my parents for the weekend and when I was reversing out of my parking spot I hit a neighbor's car.
Pic related was the only damage (small puncture on the bottom left) and they're saying repairs are $570 if I don't want to go through insurance.
Should I just get my insurance company involved?
Any help is appreciated.
>>15006971
Just duct-tape it
$3
>>15006977
I should probably mention that this is the neighbors car. Mine was unharmed.
>>15006971
Jesus. Let's see one payment of 500 or 5 years of inflate premiums.
