Alright, /o/, i came up with a genius plan.
lincoln mark VIs are cheap everywhere because they look goofy with the long overhangs on a super short wheelbase and such, but they're rear wheel drive and come with the 5 liter V8.
BMW E30s are getting super expensive, and only came with crappy not enough cylinder engines.

you shortened the front and rear overhangs. You would basically have an E30 for half the cost.

Hey /o/ i'm getting my first car in 2 months i should have at least 8k saved up, i was thinking of getting a 2000-2005 ford mustang. If possible getting the 2005 would be the dream but i don't think anyone will sell a v8 instead of the v6 for 8 grand. I was also thinking of buying an older bmw 3 series and hooning it out. what are your opinions

Your parents won't lend you an extra grand or two? I too would strive for the v8 and as you see they hold their value. Don't think it happens that often these days but if you check one out and the owner sees the excitement from a first time buyer they might cut you a deal.

A little while back I posted my car asking for advice on fixing it, and pretty much everyone unanimously told me it wasn't fixable even if it was worth the effort to do.
It's taken 3 weeks of every single waking hour not at work, and $275 worth of parts, but goddammit I drove my stupid $500 car to work today, and hopefully I'll never have to wait on a ride again.

How much do you reckon maintenance and cost of ownership is on a '65 Mustang convertible?
Are they easy to fix and maintain? How much do they depreciate if you use them as a daily driver?

Depends on what you want. maintenance is a breeze, and fairly cheap. But, again, do you want something that's restored? Engine size? The value will be halved by daily driving one. Let's say you buy a newly restored mustang with a V8 in it for about $60k DD it for about 50k miles and the value would be around $40k

Is restoration really that expensive? Is this one not fully restored or something? Halved in how long though? What key maintenance is needed every X number of years? This isn't really an issue but a big part of why I like classics is because they will never go out of style. I can buy a 2015 Mustang right now but it'll be the shitty Mustang by 2020. A classic 1965 I can drive right now...

-Winter tires are a must if your area experiences snow, or very cold temperature. Remember, winter tire compound is not just for snow, but for very cold temps. Either invest in a set of steelies, with winter tires, or check out Craigslist. Lots of folks will sell wheel and tires combo. Just match up your bolt pattern, and as close as you can to your outer tire diameter size. Do not use All Season Tires. They suck at everything, get a pair of summer tires if you plan on having winter tires. Disclaimer, All Seasons maybe better for wet

-If you plan do suspension work on your car, buy a lifetime alignment deal from your choice of vendor. Anytime you modify your suspension components, you should always get an alignment done afterwords. Even if you dont, an alignment is recommended every two years, depending on road condition. A lifetime alignment pays for itself after two uses. Firestone does lifetime alignment, they will also rotate Firestone brand tires for free.

-Speed Bleeders are a huge time saver, they are a brake valve with a check valve that makes brake bleeding truly a one man job. Prevents air from getting sucked back in, do not need to tighten the brake valve while applying brake pressure. Build your own brake fluid capture device: Take an old brake fluid container, pref 1 quart size, drill a small hole, and run clear vacuum hose through it.
