Should I get?

>12 fucking thousand dollars for a car with an engine on its way out
Aight, so these are my first two cars that I've owned, both of which I still have.
Subaru Impreza SportWagon and Mk2 Golf GTI, which I restored with my dad as a project, and was my first car.
What does /o/ think?
>inb4 "Why didn't you buy a WRX"
I'm 18 and couldn't get insurance on one.
And before you ask, I prefer the Wagon to the Sedan and I need the space to fit a drum kit in the back.
Rear of both.
im on my 6th car and still havent been able to acquire a mk2 gti so cheers to you for that one
im partial to subarus so i also like the impreza
on a side note:
i think you shouldnt have blacked out the emblem
>>14154378
Cheers! Do you mean the VW logo? The GTIs came as standard with the black logo.
why haven't more car manufacturers gone this route with taking away the camshaft via solenoids? wouldn't this lead to greater performance?
its gay
>>14154253
>more power is gay
let me guess, busriding is the purist form of driving to you.
wats a camshafts?
should you rest your foot on the clutch pedal while you drive or will it wear the clutch prematurely?
Google it
>>14154128
Avoid sitting in the car seats too long as it will wear them too quickly
>>14154128
I take my foot off if I'm just cruising. In city traffic, I'll just leave it on because lol 10 gears.
It's just asking for bad habits and trouble if your foot is always on there.
Why is /o/ averse to matte paint?
I'm not, I'm painting my car with it. It's a bitch to shoot and deal with though, better make sure it's what you really want
because it looks like shit. It is most commonly used by mexicans and stancefaggots on their civics because they can't afford real paint, so they just spray paint it matte.
I'm not completely, but it certainly depends on the car. Solid color matte blacks and matte grays tend to look like development cars to me. They've made some more interesting ones with metallics and pearls with matte clear that look better. I saw a matte white S class with a white interior that looked fantastic, for example. But 90% of matte cars look like shit.
From a practical standpoint, touchups are really hard, and essentially have to repaint most of the car to make something small match (or leave it).
Finally, poorfags need to stop making their...

I'm desperate /o/
I have a 2008 FA5, 145k miles (clutch replaced at ~135k miles) that I have to force into gear when the engine is running.
My problems started about two weeks ago, on the coldest day of the season (I uploaded an ECU tune just before the problem happened, but I don't think that would affect clutch because it's a hydraulic system). When the engine isn't running, it goes into gear perfectly. Transmission doesn't make any noises or smells when the car is running. When I do get it into gear with the engine running, the car...

How interchangeable are the Chevy small blocks?
Infinitely. I forget what the original motor ibln my nova was but it was probably a 305 since it's a base model. Me and my dad built a 406 for it over the summer and are getting parts together for another 406 for next season.
What motor are you looking at for what car?
>>14153901
Dodge Impala

So you know this stuff. Would it be possible to bolt an LSX 454 to a 70's muscle car that originally housed a gen 2 big-block?
Can I pull a 5.4L modular from a navigator, bolt on some cobra or shelby heads, add a new crank, rods and pistons and make power?
pls respond
>>14153885
>bolt on some cobra or shelby heads
The bore sizes have to match.
>add a new crank, rods and pistons and make power?\
What are transmission and rear axle.
>>14153978
well the bore size are the same aren't they? they all displace the same
>What are transmission and rear axle.
what about it?
I just want to know about the engine
Whats your opinion on a project car as a first car?
>>14153851
It will either make you a grizzled and stoic master of your own fate or a helpless, whiny shitbrain.
It all depends on how you deal with shit not working.
>>14153851
good take public transport for daily needs
>>14153851
Don't do it as your first car
I have an ek9 I've been driving every day and it's not my first car but I mod it often trying to make it perfect for myself and it's pretty hard to work on it while using it all the time since project cars need fair amount of time in the garage
Road Trip /o/ Thread:
What's a good, spacious alternative to a VW bus that won't break the bank, is reliable, and won't make you seem like a rapist?
Also share plans, possible future projects, ideas, tips, stories, greentexts, etc.
i'm in the process of doing one of these

Daily reminder to check your tire pressure, /o/.
>Finally check tires.
>All good except for the one that is 15-16 PSi.
>Probably would've lost the bead on the highway if I hadn't checked it.

I always just do a walk around, pretty easy to spot if one is low.
What's the proper technique to grip your knob?
Palm to the side?
Palm on top?
From the base?
Fingers on the head of the knob?
Not interested in personal preference, moreso proper driving technique.
>>14153595
As a truck driver, I can tell you that you get the smoothest shifts when you shift palm on top
this thread is gay as fuck, delet this
>>14153609
I didn't consider the fact that trucks user have longer shifters than cars.
I should have differentiated between the two.
I'm sure Mitsubishi Motors North America will go the way of American Suzuki in the next 5 years. Don't see their cars as much.
