Because I'm curious, what preps does /out/ have for SHTF?
I have a cabin 500km away full of supplies, guns and farming stuff. I have a bag packed near my front door with enough food and water to last the trip and a bike to get to my location.

Hey OP. Why did you make this thread while also commenting in the other thread about this exact same subject? Are you literally retarded?

I commented in the other after making this one.

Imaging you had to walk 300 km from point a to point b to some quest like "going to taste the most tasteful meat ever"

how would you like the landscape and terrain to be like?

me:

small forest
grass
25ºc and 20ºc in the shadow
bunnies and deers

22 KB,
I'm looking into getting an Osprey Atmos Backpack. I'm trying to decide between the 50 L and the 65 L. I'm a noob looking to backpack, and don't exactly have ultralight gear. I have a Zephyr 3 that I'll be lugging around.

Also, looking for an affordable sleeping bag to slap in there, thinking maybe Kelty Cosmic Down 20/21 or The North Face Cat's Meow. Which of these, or would you recommend something different for < $150?
13 replies and 1 images submitted. Click here to view.
>>
Get the 65L. the 50 will limit you to weekend trips.

Cant give you advice on those bags
>>
>>774257
I think the the real difference is the 65 has a front compartment. Look at pics and youll see the zipper. If you want to go light don't get the 65 or you'll find a way to fill it.
>>
>>774257
Cat's Meow is super comfy. I tried on an Atmos, but it was BIG. I don't do really long trips, just a night or two. I ended up going with the Kestrel 38. If you don't do super long trips, the Atmos will be too big. The Kestrel is comfy, and much heavier duty material than the Talon or Atmos line.

5 KB,
I want to up and leave. Drop everything and go walk the planet. I'm so sick and tired of just being another cog in the machine.

I plan on saving up €1000 or so before leaving. I'm from Scandinavia so thinking of hitchhiking to the mediterranean, then catch a hitch on a cargo ship set for asia.

My plan is to panhandle as much as possible, and live off cheap grains that I can cook in my trangia.

Anyone have any tips for not dying en route?

Anon you need to step up your game.

Anyway, hitchhinkingb to the Med will not be difficult you just need to find the right people but catching a ride with a cargo ship will not be easy. They have to follow rules and you are another person for them to look for. Also they'll not feed you for free.
>>
>>773914
You have no idea how fucking horrible the Scandinavian way of life is if you don't fit 100% in. Yes, everything is good and well, but ONLY if you're willing to get a job fast so you can start paying back to society.

And I was of course planning on working on board the ship to pay my fare.

I'm thinking on a 3 day hike, instead of bringing 6L of water, would I be able to substitute 3L with pepsi max? Or is that a bad idea?

Also, should I bring money in a sock or something?

How about bringing a waterfilter?
>>
>>773874
You're better off bringing about 4L of mountain dew

Pack around $200 in 1's into the sock you wear in your boots, that should see you through, there are plenty of places to stop and spend on the trails

Why doesn't it work if you put the little metal bits on the corners into the poles?
>>
>>773536
yea this. the poles should be hollow right? there should be a way to platform the poles to the tent corners
>>
>>773535
Take the metal pins on those rings at eah corner and put them into the bottom of the poles.

>How much did you save up before going?

I should specify further that I'm from England and that I've been WWOOFing for more-or-less a year at different places. I only saved up about £1000 (about $1500) because if you're primarily doing WWOOFing, then there isn't much expenditure apart from transportation. As the WWOOF contract states, the host will be looking after all the food and accommodation which is one of the more expensive parts of travelling. The further...

What are your summer plans? Anyone going /out/ abroad?
I want to go /out/ing Sweden during a couple weeks but I'm afraid of finding out that memes are real and get disappointed. Is it better to play it safe and go to Finland/Norway instead? I'm going alone btw.

Anyway use this thread to discuss about your summer. If you want to do so.
