/out/ approved state?
>i am moving this summer, where should i settle?
>>747944
What do you like to do /out/? What kind of weather do you really hate being /out/ in?
>>748031
I agree with this
Would love to do the PCT
What do u think about my new russian hunting knife? Is it good?
It cost me 52 euros in local hunting store.
>>774837
It's pretty, I'll give it that.
What kind of steel?
>>774837
Very nice anon. Do you have a sheath for it?
Stainless steal i guess
Because I'm curious, what preps does /out/ have for SHTF?
I have a cabin 500km away full of supplies, guns and farming stuff. I have a bag packed near my front door with enough food and water to last the trip and a bike to get to my location.
Hey OP. Why did you make this thread while also commenting in the other thread about this exact same subject? Are you literally retarded?
>>774737
I commented in the other after making this one.
Imaging you had to walk 300 km from point a to point b to some quest like "going to taste the most tasteful meat ever"
how would you like the landscape and terrain to be like?
me:
small forest
grass
25ºc and 20ºc in the shadow
bunnies and deers
>>774616
I'd take one of those sexy ribbons of highway you see going up mountains that double back on each other. I love good bbq
>>774616
25ºc? Fuck that is too hot. Like sandnigger hot.
>>774628
Ah, the sweet snaking switchbacks slithering up the mountain like your uncle's hand up your mother's leg.
Can someone help me ID this wetlands plant I see often? I'm in midwest usa
It smells like celery and has a hollow trunk
>>774614
>Ferula communis
Nope.
I'm looking into getting an Osprey Atmos Backpack. I'm trying to decide between the 50 L and the 65 L. I'm a noob looking to backpack, and don't exactly have ultralight gear. I have a Zephyr 3 that I'll be lugging around.
Also, looking for an affordable sleeping bag to slap in there, thinking maybe Kelty Cosmic Down 20/21 or The North Face Cat's Meow. Which of these, or would you recommend something different for < $150?
Get the 65L. the 50 will limit you to weekend trips.
Cant give you advice on those bags
>>774257
I think the the real difference is the 65 has a front compartment. Look at pics and youll see the zipper. If you want to go light don't get the 65 or you'll find a way to fill it.
>>774257
Cat's Meow is super comfy. I tried on an Atmos, but it was BIG. I don't do really long trips, just a night or two. I ended up going with the Kestrel 38. If you don't do super long trips, the Atmos will be too big. The Kestrel is comfy, and much heavier duty material than the Talon or Atmos line.
I want to up and leave. Drop everything and go walk the planet. I'm so sick and tired of just being another cog in the machine.
I plan on saving up €1000 or so before leaving. I'm from Scandinavia so thinking of hitchhiking to the mediterranean, then catch a hitch on a cargo ship set for asia.
My plan is to panhandle as much as possible, and live off cheap grains that I can cook in my trangia.
Anyone have any tips for not dying en route?
>Scandi
>Literally playing life on easy mode
>Still finds a wat to fuck it up
Anon you need to step up your game.
Anyway, hitchhinkingb to the Med will not be difficult you just need to find the right people but catching a ride with a cargo ship will not be easy. They have to follow rules and you are another person for them to look for. Also they'll not feed you for free.
>>773914
You have no idea how fucking horrible the Scandinavian way of life is if you don't fit 100% in. Yes, everything is good and well, but ONLY if you're willing to get a job fast so you can start paying back to society.
And I was of course planning on working on board the ship to pay my fare.
>>773916
Where do you think you would fit in and how?
I'm thinking on a 3 day hike, instead of bringing 6L of water, would I be able to substitute 3L with pepsi max? Or is that a bad idea?
Also, should I bring money in a sock or something?
>>773874
How about bringing a waterfilter?
>>773874
You're better off bringing about 4L of mountain dew
Pack around $200 in 1's into the sock you wear in your boots, that should see you through, there are plenty of places to stop and spend on the trails
>>773876
How about not falling for summer bait threads?
Please help
This dumbass tent isn't going to work unless I stake it huh?
>>773535
Why doesn't it work if you put the little metal bits on the corners into the poles?
>>773536
yea this. the poles should be hollow right? there should be a way to platform the poles to the tent corners
>>773535
Take the metal pins on those rings at eah corner and put them into the bottom of the poles.
any of you guys built a shelter?
This is my first attempt, did this over the weekend, much more time consuming than I expected, especially since I can't fell trees.
Wanna see what others built for inspiration
>>773473
why build one..
>>773481
....
>>773481
because building something yourself is really fun. Dreamt of being a castaway ever since I was a kid
So /out/.
Where do you buy your gear?
MEC, it's the sister company of REI in the states.
Amazon, Walmart, Dick's, Home Depot, Tractor Supply. I generally avoid the REIs and EMS's and I don't have a Cabella's or Bass Pro near me
Been looking for a decent budget tent as I almost froze to death last time. Have no idea what I'm doing tbqh, and I'd appreciate some advice.
UK
Have anyone here done WWOOF?
Is it possible to sign up, go somewhere, and basically just stay there for an undetermined amount of time until I save up enough money for my next ticket somewhere?
I'm WWOOFing right now in Norway and I've been to 7 different WWOOF hosts across Europe. AMA.
>>773032
How much did you save up before going?
How long do hosts usually let you stay?
Any problems with doing it?
>>773041
>How much did you save up before going?
I should specify further that I'm from England and that I've been WWOOFing for more-or-less a year at different places. I only saved up about £1000 (about $1500) because if you're primarily doing WWOOFing, then there isn't much expenditure apart from transportation. As the WWOOF contract states, the host will be looking after all the food and accommodation which is one of the more expensive parts of travelling. The further...

What are your summer plans? Anyone going /out/ abroad?
I want to go /out/ing Sweden during a couple weeks but I'm afraid of finding out that memes are real and get disappointed. Is it better to play it safe and go to Finland/Norway instead? I'm going alone btw.
Anyway use this thread to discuss about your summer. If you want to do so.
taking my kid camping for the first time next weekend. if it goes well i have another one lined up in june. i have a couple backpacking trips in the sierra in july, one on the west side, one on the east side (pic semi-related: both will be slightly out of the right side of the frame). i have half a dozen climbs i want to get on, but i'm skeptical i'll get more than 2 with how busy my partners and i are this summer.
Next weekend the waifu and I are going hiking for 4 days in the White Mountains. Should be good. Might climb Mt Katahdin in September if the campsites aren't already booked up.
We hiked the Bigelow section of the Appalachian Trail last week; pic related.
>>772815
I am taking accutane for the third time. I will stay inside, trying keep moisturized.
How do I best get out of the machine thaf is the western world and start seeing the world?
I'm willing to give up my belongings and panhandle.
>>772473
WOOFing, teaching ESL, and getting super fit and becoming a green beret.
>>772477
He means how can he be free without servicing the economy or fighting overseas for jews.
Have 100k
Fake your own death
Go from there
If it would help motivate you, do something very horrible so that you can never puss out and return.
Sup out Mexican fag here
I want to try hunting but I don't know where and if I need a permission
Have you tried googling it?
>>772289
Yes but can't find a place on Guadalajara
>>772297
I guess in any country you'll need a permit to hunt, so where do you want to go anon? Why don't you try asking at /int/ to your fellow mexicans?
