Hi, this is a really weird thread but i'm a long time lurker so i have to ask.

>How do i redpill my boyfriend on outdoor survival

I want us to buy a nice acreage and fortify it for potential happenings (i'm concerned about packs of marauding immigrants or home invasions from criminals, it's a recent problem in my city, plus learn survival skills together and make our property integrated with nature...

But he seems to care more about spending time on the computer or at home.

We both love cars and so i've...

Start with picnics on weekends. Tell him how cool it would be to grill something and maybe spend the night camping.

Baby steps and positive reinforcement do wonders. Hope it helps.

He can have my gf and I'll take you.

Mine likes to over analyze and bring irrational fears into the mix. That's just how she justifies her stance on not liking the outdoors much. She won't camp because she's afraid of getting attacked by a bear or something. Sure it can happen. No doubt but the statistic of that actually happening is slim to none. Even if I told her it's impossible she still wouldn't go.

And just thinking about it she's not even a pleasure to be with...

Friendly reminder to all to refrain from hunting with your bow until you are accurate and precise. Inhumane kills (or injury to animals) from unskilled/unprepared archers give us all a bad rep!

I hunt with a #40 recurve. I don't have the time or property to practice as much I'd like so I stick to Judo points and small game. Currently practicing 1-2 hours a week. Not nearly enough to hunt large game.

I'm thinking about trying wood cock and ruffed grouse this season since a hit pretty much...

198 KB,
Hey /out/, so I've booked a trip to climb Kilimanjaro. It's scheduled for the summer, and I've got a while to prep for it. Has anyone climbed Kili, or any of the other seven summits, for that matter? I'm no hiking or climbing novice, but I'd love some first-hand stories or tips that might make the trip more enjoyable.

Also, the company I booked with said that the problem most people have is altitude sickness. Is there anything I can do to prepare for that besides just bringing some meds?
>>
>>723571
cardio. move slowly up the mountain. otherwise it's just up to your genetic predisposition to how you handle altitude.
>>
>>723567
bumping for interest.
It's very high on my bucket list to go climb Mount Kilimanjaro one day (:
I'd be very interested to hear others experiences with this mountain or others.

129 KB,
About 2 months ago I bought an allotment for about £120, about 4x8 meters, it was cheap because it was completely overgrown

>pic not related, have no pics of it yet

Me and some family cleared it out and are in the process of cleaning up and digging out some planting areas

We're pretty much amateurs at this sort of thing, but we have sown radishes, cherry tomatoes, squashes, pumpkins, beans, and chilli among other things in our house, so we want some tips and advice.

Planting tips? General plant keeping?
Also general disscussion

Make sure to uproot any remains of previous owners plants, especially potatoes
If it was previously owned, of course
>>
>>723563

If you're planning to do regular (i.e. without a greenhouse) growing I'd advise for you to check the soil conditions and to see what kind of plants you can grow that will agree with your climate.
Cherry tomatoes, chillies and the like will almost certainly not survive a regular UK winter.
Personally I like growing stuff that's more or less local (like 'forgotten' vegetables) or easily adaptable to outside conditions.
>>
>>723596
If that's the case we have enough money for a small greenhouse to put those plants in
We were told the soil conditions and it should be good for what we're planting

Any of you lads own the Gen 3 ECWCS?

In what conditions have you worn it? Where did you cop it? Are the fleece jackets always shitty? I've heard the Rothco ones bald everywhere but I don't know if that's usual or just Rothco shit.

>>
I wear them always when it cold. So comfy.
>>
>>723306
i had them all. i wore them from texas to afghanistan. the fleece that i got never balded and was pretty fucking awesome except that if you snagged it hard the stitching would tear. i went through 3 of them by blowing out stitching jumping out of stuff. but they never balded. i had to give all the goretex shit back but i still have the long johns and the puffy grey.

So I'm going to take my penecostol family camping what should I take give me tips anything to help and also it's 3 people 4 including me

So /out/, I need a new pack. Pictured and owned is my REI Flash 62, it's served me pretty well except the zippers are garbage and they're not replaceable/I can't sew new ones on. Need a pack that's tough for sc/out/ing but still light for long trips. Is surplus the way to go? Or does REI/Osprey have a comparable pack?

I'd go to a used outdoor store if you have one. I got a sweet 60L in the PNW for $35 bucks and consigned my old bag for the same price in the same building. Either that or ebay, newer bag technology really isn't so far advanced that I can justify to buy an expensive new bag.

I knocked one up a couple of years ago when I was bored at my folks place, more as a proof of concept than anything. It took surprisingly little effort or skill to build, and worked shockingly well. it's still on my bookcase now

I use this. Lightweight and works well. I'm a little skeptical of some of the parts inside; they don't look robust. Time will show if it's any good, but for now I'm really pleased with it.

Bucksaw seems less practical for collecting firewood on day hikes. But for anything else I think it's the best solution.

So, /out/.
After my 20 years of archery... I have never went to a 3D shoot. But that changes tomorrow.
Tomorrow, I am going to go to my first 3D shoot.
I just wanted to ask if there's anything that I might not know about it.

If you miss the 'true target' areas of the targets they get really pissed off. Be very careful to hit only the target section and try not to get nervous.
>>
>>722077
So... Head shots only?
>>
>>722077
Nah. The place that I am going to is okay with people hitting outside the target.
They say that there's kids there who shoot Genesis bows that can barely hit the main target. The workers never get mad.

Horsehair brush. Just buff them as you're putting them on and they'll look fine.

Damp rag if the dust is caked on there pretty good.

The idea was to preheat the toaster on a fire, not to hold it over a fire with bread in it... That way you can control the heat better. Also, check it every now and again?
