Hey /out/! This is probably a dumb question, but I am having trouble finding hiking pants that fit me. I am average, 33x30 size, but everywhere I go it is either too baggy or too long. I currently have a pair of columbia hiking pants, but they are very baggy and they are the smallest size that still fits.Trying to plan a trip to Whitney in a month, but I want some better pants. Any recommendations?
PS: I've been to REI several times trying on pants, none of which I like.

I got some cheap ones at Sam's Club. Slim straight fit, thigh pocket and normal pockets
UV resistant and they don't get torn up by thorns.
Only $20, so that's a good deal in my book.
I tried those on the other day along with other pants.
I settled on arc'teryx rampart pants because they were loose and flexible with neat pockets- not much baggy butt. Their sizes are all kinds of fucked... 32 fit me best despite 30 being the more correct size.

I have always used a gas stove for hiking but I'm planning a trip with primarily camping in mind (will be taking an axe etc) and figured I would pick up a wood stove.
Ive come across the chinese copies on ebay for £12~. There are two that look about the same other than different pot stands, I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with them?

I'm also planning on picking up a titanium pot or even a set of titanium cookware as the aluminium kit I have now tastes terrible if you eat out of it. Any recommendations would be much appreciated.
I just bought one. Tried it like two weeks ago in my backyard. It was freezing point and dry. Started very easily and kept burning until depleted, with no unburnt fuel. Didn't have to push anything around. So far that looks pretty promising.
Just get the cheapest one or better yet make one yourself out of some tin cans. That is all these stoves basically are.

Not gonna click those links but I'd tell you right now to get those foldable ones. The one in your pic can be built on site with a knife and an empty can so it's not worth the money. You might aswell get a lot of empty cans and get rid of them after a couple uses, specially if you are car camping.

It's called the rainy season but it still will be incredibly hot. Also El Nino is going on and the area is going through a huge drought.
Clothing, long sleeve and light. I have a bunch of ex officio that works good. I find that I sweat so much here that the fancy fabrics don't wick away anything, but they do dry quicker. Key: a big wide brim Hat, the sun is brutal. I use merino for underwear and socks.
Repellants: I just use the stuff from 7/11 in Thailand, it works fine for me.
Outdoor sleeping: I used my Hennesy hammock once in Sumatra it was the most uncomfortable night of my life. I picked a bad spot, no air circulation which was a big problem, but in the heat I couldn't stop sweating. I had to wash it after one use. But a hammock would be your best option.

What exactly is your accommodation? If you're planning on sleeping in the jungle without a guide or a group then you're mad cunts. Get bug nets obviously, a tarp and hammock setup would do you best. Ray Mears has a good tropical setup, look his shit up on youtube.
Just use whatever shit you can buy locally for repellant, but citronella works well.
Don't think you'll need anything special for first aid other than the normal shots before going there. Check regarding malaria.

My job allows me to live anywhere (well anywhere in the US will good internet and access to FedEx and an airport)
Now I want to focus on more outdoors activities like backpacking ,mountainbiking and fishing.

Alright /out/ me and my cousin only have one summer to build a log cabin in the upper peninsula of Michigan before i ship out to Europe. Any advice? Thanks you. Also General Log Cabin i spose.

Think about this for a second. Do you really think that your ancestors waited a whole season after felling their logs to build their cabin? No. They would die.
Tldr; Modern techniques are much better suited for aged logs. Classic techniques are much better suited for green logs. you're going to have to account for shrinkage when making doors/windows with green logs. Also, the type of log matters for green vs aged. Softer woods are better for green cabins. This also brings on a whole new set of problems for your cabin which you'll have to address though. Softer woods are more prone to decay and disease. You'll need long and steep roof overhangs to protect from the sun and rain. Long roof overhangs mean splash back from rain. you'll have to have it adequately lifted (~24 inches) from the ground to prevent this. Take what i'm saying with a grain of salt though as what you'll need is entirely based on your areas climate.
I'm also in the process of building a cabin though. Keep on researchin and ask me any further questions, I'll try to assist.

most people forget that most motorcycles for a very long time were behind what most cars where doing, look at when motorcycles started getting ABS brakes, mid 2000's and even then they where like early versions of car ABS, shaky and scary as fuck. even despite their existence in cars.
Gas gauges on motorcycles, STILL aren't a thing. and rightfully so. you can look down into your fuel tank on almost every bike and judge how much gas you got left. most bikes also have a way of recording your mileage/trip. so you learn when you run out of fuel, and when to fuel up.
Dr650 is gonna be a bitch to ride on anything but clear cut trails and open fields. as a noobie. you have to be super skilled to pop over logs and shit. its over 300lbs.. so just trying to unstuck it in deep mud is gonna make you super tired. and waste tons of energy.

Went fishing once and it was pouring down rain, like just fuck my shit up family. Ended up catching over 100 catfish ranging from 2 to 20lb within a hour. We had 6 rods out and it was just like heron jig fishing at a dam. Had our freezer packed for months. I made deep fried fish sticks at least once a day.
Also we went camping once during a hurricane storm. We were about 200 miles inland and thought we wouldn't get much more than rain. We ended up having high power wind that blew our gear all over the place. We ended up getting back to the SUV and slept in it for 2 days before the road wasn't flooded for us to get out.
