I want to go somewhere much warmer than where I currently am (Denver CO), find a place where I can set up a isolated bum camp close to town and preferably next to a body or stream of clean water warm enough to bathe in. There must also not be hordes of asshole homeless men descended from Cro Magnon who will rape and rob me. It must also be a natural area with a dark sky for star gazing. Then I went to get a job in said town, save up money, and live there until it starts to get warm up north again.
I need recommendations, most importantly where to go, secondly on how to do this (I have a tent but would prefer to build some kind of structure, I plan on getting a bicycle, etc).

Pine sugar actually used to be a common sweetener for native Americans, and the needles were frequently used as a source of vitamin C. Pine pulp is still used in food today as a filler/fibre source. Pine nuts are used in salads, and have a buttery/minty flavor. Pine pollen can be used as a flour substitute. Pine is completely edible.

Does /out/ like rock/mineral/gem hounding and going into old mines? Been out here in New Mexico since friday and I am absolutely loving it out here. Went to the Kelly Mine today and went down a bunch of tunnels, climbed some cable and shit into a very large room with some nice quartz(hard to get to) and a few bats.

I wouldn't reccomend going solo, and there's usually information out there on what's stable and what's not if you talk to locals and/or the gem/mineral society of the area.
I've always had the pleasure of having great guides, but I would imagine even a solo trip up to a horizontal shaft to get at something near some sunlight, ontop of getting a beautiful hike, would be well worth it.
Thought I'd share this with /out/.
Was at Kohls today (dept store in USA for those down under, across the pond, or south of the border). Found a packable down jacket, Heat Keep brand, for $50.
650 goose down fill, very light, and packs to about the size of a grapefruit or less.
It's not an amazing jacket as far as jackets go, but I've never seen a packable real goose down jacket for less than $150. Picked one up, will go in my pack, take up very little space or weight, and should work well.

A few days ago, I actually revisited the Clothcraft Clothing Factory, the first building I ever explored in Cleveland. I didn't get any pictures that visit, but I did shoot a decent YouTube video. Earlier this summer, I got to visit an entire abandoned neighborhood in Pittsburgh with about 20 abandoned houses.

2 1⁄4cups Bisquick
2⁄3cup buttermilk - (you can use powdered buttermilk)
1teaspoon sugar
1tablespoon butter, melted
melted butter, for brushing
Mix the Bisquick, buttermilk and sugar together in a bowl.
Add the melted butter into the batter.
Stir until a soft dough forms.
Turn out onto a well floured work surface.
Knead 20 times and don't be afraid to get additional flour into the dough.
Roll 1/2 thick
Cut out into 2" rounds (or your preferred size).
Place close together in a lightly greased Dutch oven
Brush tops with melted butter.
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown
When you remove the biscuits from the oven, brush the tops with melted butter again.

Good space, big for a good EDC if thats what you like. Can carry food, sleeping system and shit like that for 1-2-3 days. Good space for books, pc you name it. If more space needed be there is molle. Also it's cheapish.
It does not have a hip belt (for more hiking style), and if molle is not your style this is not what you want.
Is there such a thing as a natural hot spring where the water is actually tea? Such as like a normal hot spring feeds off into a waterfall but in the fall dead leaves get stuck in the streams path causing the water at the bottom of the tiny waterfall to be tea?
I have tried googling it but got nothing.

They were full of tannins and alkaloids.

They're mostly an invasive species around here, and the state encourages people to harvest them (as well as bullfrogs). This is easy-mode fishing; you can literally catch them by hand with a bit of practice. Anyone else a crawdad fan?

If the crawfish population is dense (true of a lot of smaller streams), you don't even need to bait them; you can just pick one, get behind it, drop a rock in front of it, then use your hands to catch it as it reflexively scoots backward. Then you just toss it in a bucket with a bit of water in it. Repeat again and again as much as you want.
Washington's regs are a smidge heavier, it seems.
I used to catch them for giggles when I was a kid, in AZ. Never really thought about them since, and now that my interest is piqued the season is over. Curses.

I can afford this course, but not EMT courses.

Hello /out/ as an European fag I see the possibility of shit going down around here according to all the terrorist attacks and all that shit. The moment that happens around here, I usually go camping without much but what i always carry the most is food. And if for some reason I cannot pack that food what scares me the most is hunting. I am currently vegan because I don't believe that killing an animal when you don't have to is necessary. However I would one if i have to eat without any problem, the think that really scares me tho, is that i might not find any animals in the wild since i never have really. So how do i find animals or any food in the wild? any tips?

Hey /out/ first time poster here
I may end up having to leave my home (19, living with parents) relatively soon. It may happen, it may not, but in any event I'd like to be somewhat prepared.
I live in the suburbs, have a $9.50 an hour part-time job and take courses at my community college (only two though, I dropped two others this semester). I want to leave the general area I live in on a train or something but I'm unsure if completely abandoning my job is advisable, don't really care about dropping out of school because I fucking suck at it so I'm open to dropping that to potentially work full time. In any case, getting out of the area would be nice
I'd like to know good supplies to take with me when I inevitably become homeless, i.e. good foods for their weight/spoilage, tent, a decent military backpack etc. I honestly have no idea what I'm doing so any input would be appreciated
I own very few things, pic related is all the significant items I have. These things are a lightweight Lenovo laptop, a warm and relatively stylish jacket with fucktons of pockets, a pretty basic backpack (which is subject to replacement if severely needed) and a single-barrel shotgun I purchased for 50 dollars at a used gun store whose manufacturers are unknown and all I know about it is that it was patented in 1913. Was advised on purchase not to shoot it and I think the barrel is slightly warped to the right. Considering sawing it down to fit in a backpack and would eliminate the fucked barrel but I don't know if it'd be worth carrying, I also don't know if they have somethings like metal detectors at train stations so I might get pegged as a terrorist so knowing that in advance would be nice
I guess my ultimate goal would be to get a camper van or some form of cheap-ish shelter so I can work from there and just avoid homelessness in general.
