I got outdoor research ones, they keep ticks out of my socks when going through think underbrush while being marginally more comfortable than high-ankle boots.

I am camping for the summer and the bugs bight constantly. What happens if you ignore them biting you? Would there be any long term consequences? For example, someone is black out drunk and just does not feel them biting.

Has anybody fished any of the streams in the Smoky Mountains before? I'm going to Gatlinburg in a couple of weeks and I'm still debating on taking my fishing shit. I've never fished for trout before so I pretty much need any tips at all.

Howdy guys, I'm thinking about going on a longer hike then I'm used to and want to carry the bare minimum for 7 days of hiking. But I'm trying to see what items considered essentials could be replaced by locally sourcing what you need while hiking or making it. Knowledge? Opinions? I remember watching a video and I'm pretty sure it was Matt graham and he'd just take a stone knife, some cloth, and I think a water container. Pic slightly unrelated.
Just take gear in. Very little of value can actually be made on a hike.

Get two of these. They should be at Walmart and around $20 each I think. Stack them and you should be fine as long as everything is properly flat and solid. Things like an air mattress, I'm not really sure about because you can do some weird things on those by accident.

Yeah, being higher off the ground makes it easier to get up. Having something to steady you as you get up should also be there, that can be a big ice chest cooler or folding chair.

What do you do when you're sleeping /out/ and a thunderstorm starts?
Usually my mom runs out to the backyard with an umbrella so I can get back to the house without getting my pajamas wet.
If I'm sleeping /out/ and a thunder storm starts I'll either sleep through it or it will wake me up with it's rumblings. What the fuck kind of question is this?
Since I'm not a lightweight master race kind of guy i snuggle deeper into my sleeping bag in the middle of my tent and listen to the sound of the storm.

A lot of those tents looked very similar to each other and I know that some festivals supply already made and up tents for people who pay for it.

They were left. I work there every year and its always the same. They've started donating them to the jungle in Calais and that but it would be nice if people didn't leave them in such a state. I've taken a few things here and there before but its hard to salvage when you're already carrying all your kit and don't have a car.
