I'm looking for a general good durable multipurpose boot preferably 8 inches and waterproof as it snows most of the year where I live. What are some good boots or brands for light hiking or camping/ walking long distances for women? Pic unrelated

>>
There aren't many women on this board. So maybe some men's boots can be recommended and you can then find matching women's pairs.

I love my Merrell boots, and they have good winter ones. Merrells website has a sale today on winter boots.
>>
Thanks I'll take a look at merrel, I thought of buying mens boots before but not many are made small enough I wear a size 6 in womens so in mens I'd need a size 4 or so
>>
>>673713
This, most of the same brands that get recommended for men also make women's boots. Merrell, Vasque, scarpa, etc.

Your best option is to go try some on and find the one that best fits your foot shape.

Why is the Prepper movement so fucking cringy? Don't get me wrong I'm all about people being ready and have some supplies if anything bad happens, but man, you go to youtube and 90% of the time will be some retard with out of the box gear, dressed like a fucking commando, spelling shit of their mouth.

Anyone feels the same or it's just me being a autistic cunt?

No, you're right.
A huge marketing has developed around the concept of "survival". Now, a lot of people believe they're in a zombie movie and spend fortunes in "tactical equipment", "ultimate weapon against X", "the ultimate survival bow which shot by himself and brings back the game".
But there are a lot of really good channels on youtube. Just ignore the autistic warriors.
>>
>>661271
Because you're sheltered and aren't used to rural, non-domesticated people. Whenever I watch videos of outdoors enthusiasts that aren't the gun loving red blooded type I think what a low test beta hipster cunt.
>>
Don't forget that it will attract people with legit mental illnesses.
I also see the logic in being somewhat surprised with supplies so I'm not saying every prepper is like that but crazy people are generally also paranoid.

What are some good ritualistic clothing to wear while /out/?

Also, is there a danger of frightening anyone seeing a black hooded figure wondering the deep wilderness at night?

I saw that in the last thread and I'm thinking I'm going to do both (MTB & Lucky tackle), 1 for Salt and 1 for fresh
I looked at a few of the past boxes on LT and they looked pretty good. I didn't look at MTB yet because you have to put an email addy in to see theirs and I'm not sure yet which person I feel like being for fishing stuff/spam

Once I was on a trail very near populated areas, but on a portion hard enough and a few miles out so not all that many people traverse it.

I was exploring off trail a bit near a viewing spot when I spotted a well made wooden cross driven deeply into the ground. There was some kind of floral arrangement tied around it, along with a zip lock bag full of papers.

The papers ended up being pictures of a man and his family, he had killed himself at that spot. One of the paper was a letter written to him after his death from his sister. Apparently none of his family...

I was back in the middle of the woods and there was just a truck in the thick of it. Like a truck, with no wheels miles away from the road. I mean I have no clue how it got there, because it was rough terrain, cliffs and hills.

68 KB,
Historically people ate the fish they caught and since Mudfish (Bowfin) have jelly meat they are not as appealing at the table. But today pretty much everyone always catches and releases fish in freshwater. But yet so many people disregard this fish as a trash fish.

It's like their grandpa told them Bowfin are trash fish and instead of thinking with a mind of their own and developing their own opinion of the fish as a rough fighting fish that puts up amazing adrenaline rushing fight they just stick with the old fashion view that Bowfin are trash fish. Even worse things like bowfishing which can be great to get rid of nonnative species is horrible when people target native fish like Bowfin and Gar. If you want to bowfish go after something that deserves it like a nonnative Snakehead or invasive cichlids.

This old fashion view that Bowfin are trashfish really needs to die.
They put up the best fight and they can be caught using cut bream during the evenings.

TLDR - Why are Bowfin not accepted as a General Sportfish?

If it says "tactical" or "survival" in the item description there's usually a better alternative that costs less.

If you're buying a first bow and are just getting into archery, you need to find out if you're patient enough to learn traditional archery over a few years or want to get something with sights. I have a Fred Bear Montana Longbow and love it, but you can buy a decent rifle/scope combination for less money.

The bow in your post has some weak links where it hinges....

Hitup Torrey Pines, go to Balboa, rent a surfboard, drive to the Anza Borrego Desert, climb Mt. Woodson the long way, get shitfaced at the Gaslamp, go to museums at Balboa, go to the zoo, visit Joshua Tree National Park if you wanna drive a ways, snowboard at Big Bear, visit the Cabrillo National Monument, go to Little Italy downtown, go to Oldtown, and so on. There is a shit ton to do here, especially outdoors.

Some good sites...

I think I'm going to spend the next 4 weeks in pisagah national forest in solitutude. I need to loose weight badly and get more focused in life (it's gone down the shitter for the last year). It's currently 25 degrees there and it'll only get colder ( I have the proper gear) will spending this time in the woods do for me what I want it to do?

At that point you will realize that you need to re-evaluate your life.

You will also lose two toes to frostbite

How you handle vision correction while /out/?

I'm badly nearsighted, I wear glasses at my desk job and contacts when I'm doing something more active.

That works fine for day trips but if I wanted to spend a few days camping, what's the best approach? Being blind in the middle of the woods is a horrifying thought.

Just put one of those little necklace type lanyards that attach to each arm of your frames so they don't fall off your face and break.

Might look nerdy/goofy but it's better than bringing all the shit to put your contacts in and out when /out/ while avoiding getting shit in your eye

Long story short I'm going to end up homeless for awhile and don't have money to stay at a hotel. How is stealth camping in Canada?

My plan is to stealth camp in the wilderness, hunt wild game for food and going back to town once in awhile for supplies. I don't plan on going near cities.

What i'm afraid of is getting mugged and confronting rangers. Has anyone done this before? How long will I last in the Canadian wilderness senpai i need to know before I start buying gear.

You're fucked. You obviously have no idea what you're doing or how to do it.
Just fucking get a job and live in a tent in the woods.
I see all sorts of lazy fucks around town bumming it. Maybe tthey earn enough to not need a job, but they sure as shit aren't "hunting wild game in the woods" and shit.
Get some min wage shit job, buy food, bum it in the woods or around town.
You're not going to last a week in the wilderness.
