any of you guys built a shelter?

This is my first attempt, did this over the weekend, much more time consuming than I expected, especially since I can't fell trees.

Wanna see what others built for inspiration

You bushcraft people are seriously the worst.

Dubs for truth
This fad needs to die

I pretty much agree. I was raised doing what bushcrafter pretend to do. Oh you built a shelter... That will fall apart in a year and is very small and uncomfortable... Build a log cabin with a crosscut saw a chisel then we will speak. My father did build a cabin but some hikers who got lost "accidentally" burnt it down

Only decent and worthy person to circle out of this annoying group would be Mike from MCQBushcraft otherwise they are pretty damn useless especially youtube channels like SurvivalLiilly which teaches nothing and Hi this Dave... Wildernessoutfitters....
>>

If an improvised shelter built with minimal tools lasts an entire, then it's bretty gud in my opinion, considering that those kind of things are supposedly for survival situations.

I think if I had my own land and found a comfy spot that was near a good fishing / hunting area but too far away from my house I might build one as a rough camp out spot. Other than that they're a bit useless I think.

>And then it rains while you sleep.

righty righty leafs+branches protect against moisture.
>>
>>773929
No, I mean I wouldn't climb into a hole in the ground unless with an opening that small unless there was an opening elsewhere for water to leave, cause otherwise that's a good way to drown in your sleep.

Not the guy that built the shelter itt btw.

1)Why are the bottom supports to your raised floor so skinny
2)Why is the raised floor so crooked
3)You have not tied things down anywhere close to well enough
4)Are you going to make this water and wind proof?
5)How deep into the ground did you drive your support beams?
6)Will you wrap 6 tarps around this?
>>
>>773900
Yup. You are a reasonable human bean.

or maybe it's just fun to build something? Stop being a faggot

>1)Why are the bottom supports to your raised floor so skinny
they are pretty far down in the ground, and I did the jumping test, they hold it up solidly
>2)Why is the raised floor so crooked
I havent actually fastened the floor yet, as you can see I am still collecting wood for it. I have just placed them there for the time being
>3)You have not tied things down anywhere close to well enough
Where in particular? Don't want it to collapse in the middle of the night
>4)Are you going to make this water and wind proof?
I reckon a tarp should do the trick, atleast for the water. I should probably close the sides as well
5)How deep into the ground did you drive your support beams?
about 1/3 of them is underground, I didnt hit any roots surprisingly, so they were easy to drive down after sharpening them with the axe
>6)Will you wrap 6 tarps around this?

>>

i have but it was different.
i built it like a standard house the frame was wood dug into the earth and the walls and roof was tarp.
it was very comfortable you could actually stand up in it.
the bed was a wooden frame posts also dug into the earth with rope loped in between very comfy.
we had an oil barrel stove inside but the tarp melted near the chimney.
