20 KB,
Hello! I've really been getting hyped up to grow a small veggie garden. I would love to be able to grow a big amount of veggies. Green beans, strawberries, peas, carrots, blueberries, corn, potatoes,raspberries/blackberries, tomatoes, lettuce, etc.
But I've never had a garden before. Never planted flowers and such. I've helped my family move bushes around their property but that's about it. Idk how to properly care for veggies/fruit so they would grow and produce some stuff for me to eat!
Any pointers? Any beginner veggies/fruit i should start with?

Start with easy stuff. Peppers, onions, corn if you have the space. Cucumers and zuchini but you need fence or structure. Brocalli and coliflower later in summer. And green beans.

People think potatoes are easy but unless you plant a million you have to keep reburying them.

Start with peppers suchini and onions. And tomatos but understand you actually have to care for them.

It depends on your specific situation. A suggestion on easy garden plants from one person might leave another scratching their head.

For example, you often hear mint plants will take over a garden, but in my yard they just die. There's a guy here who swears cherry tomato plants are awful tomato plants, but I love them and they always do fantastic for me.

So, I'd recommend trying a wide variety of...

If I lived in a forest I would hunt dear and such.
I would only kill predators if an actual wildlife surveyor (or whoever decides these things) made it known that the population must be thinned to preserve the food supply.
I wouldn't take a tacky trophy photo like that but I would keep the skin.
>>
I am currently working on my hunting licence, but I'm already certain what I will do with it.

I will not kill to have hunted. I will hunt to kill.

This killing will be either for the reason of getting the meat out of it and for population control as part of my job.

Trophy hunting is just sad.

Starting a fire from just sparks can be difficult

Most important thing is that you have some good kindling like a ball of really dry grass or twine thats been pulled apart

When I buy old axes and clean them up by soaking the in vinegar to remove the rust, it seems like it immediately starts to oxidize after it's dry. Is this normal?

Pic related is what it starts to look like.

i do the same thing, After uing vinegar quickly rinse with water, hand dry then let it sit in the sun and air for a haf hour, then either spraypaint it, or coat it with wax, vaselene or anythig else, ( read around to see what works )
>>
Nice axe. Vinegar actually puts it's own sort of oxidation/patina on, so that's the light colored stuff you're seeing. That darker part is the heat treat line
>>
Vinager removes rust but puts on a lead like finish.

Take some fine sandpaper to it then polish it, if you really care about its aesthetic.

I want to start solo weekend camping, but I'm kind of afraid of the dark. What can I do?

I'm not like terrified of nighttime, but if I walk back from the kitchen to my bedroom at night with all the lights off, I sometimes get the willies and have to walk very briskly to make it back! I guess the solution is to just go to bed as soon as it gets dark and try to sleep through it. I've camped before, but always with other people, and nearby to a cabin.

Am I crazy, or just a wuss? Does it get easier to hang out alone in a dark forest with experience?...

You already have the answer

I've been camping for the last 17 years. recently started solo trips. remember at night everything is awful quiet, so a small bird or even a decent-sized beetle stepping on dry leaves will sound like a witch about to make anonymous guacamole. If a stag makes some noise 5km away, it'll sound like 12m from you. Calm down. seriously, the silence might be overwhelming. it gets easier with experience, but from time to time but I still freak out a bit, it's normal.
Nothing beats going out of the tent in the morning, whenever you want, being the master of your kingdom,...

Let's say I've decided to turn into some sort of hermit, and let's assume I'm very serious about it.

How can I live alone innawoods for the rest of my life?

What starting equipment will I need?

What forrest would be good to go?

I'm thinking about some sort of woodlands.

How will I deal with the law? Can I be arrested for wanting to live isolated from the rest of the world?

What will happen if I, say, 25 years later, decide to come back?

How will I be able to ensure my basic needs, such as a relatively...
